Yes, 685CB and I mostly throw jerkbaits, flukes, poppers, and finesse squarebills.

All Around gear ratio 6:1 vs 7:1
How about a 6 gear ratio Bantam MGL for an all around moving baits real topwater, chatterbait, spinnerbait, swim jig, buzzbaits, S Waver 120s and traps. This would go on my Sierra 734c.

All Around gear ratio 6:1 vs 7:1
A YouTuber was trying to convince us that a 6:1 is the All Around gear ratio. This obviously will allow you to work both fast moving presentations as well as slow. How. I'm convinced that the 734C in any Dobyns line is the best all around round. I do throw a 6:1 on this rod. I use it exclusively for my skirted lures (chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, swim jigs, buzzbaits). I think he might have not factored in burning moving baits. Why wouldn't a 7:1 be the best choice for an All Around.

Haha! I love these answers. Ok...looks like I'm selling my Kaden 735cb. I'm trying to get rid of dead weight. Free up some room for a better spinning rod.

Hypothetically, you had to sell either a Kaden 735CB or Champion XP 733C...which one would you sell? You might have a 703SF in the rod locker which takes care of the Senkos.

Which would be better for lipless crankbaits?
In heavy grass a 735c with a high speed reel, like an 8:1 with 30# braid to a 17lb Fluoro leader is my go to. I'm going to get a lot of haters for this. Burn that lipless through the grass, pop it and you're catching fish and your partner is still wondering why you're using a jig rod for crankbaits...meanwhile you have 4 fish in the live well and he's slow rolling a jig. I just catch fish on this set up.

First Bass of 2022! Let's See Yours!
Caught January 2nd 5.5lbs 23.5". Fought like a small fish. I was so surprised. I caught her on a black and blue tube. In the past, you couldn't catch me dead with a spinning rig in my hand, after that day, I'm a firm believer in finesse tackle.

Basic airbrush paint
I'm just getting into airbrushing got my kit, got my helping hands setup, now I need paint. What are the basics? Do I need pearlized. I'm clueless.

What colors catch YOU?
Big fan of anything with purple in it. Junebug, redbug, green pumpkin, green pumpkin top and blue bottoms on creature baits. I love a brown and blue jig. Black and blue swimjigs.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
The Craw Jackhammer with Kamikaze Red trailer followed by the 6th Sense Boiled Crawfish Quake 70 smoked 'em!!! It was a farm pond with grass, very low pressure, nobody fishes it besides me when I can get permission and it's like pulling teeth to get it. I used my Sierra 734 with an SLX DC 6 gear for my chatterbait. Now here's where it got interesting. I follow the BTL podcast and a guy from Sam Rayburn uses a 7'3" Heavy Fast Action rod with 17lb Fluorocarbon yo'ing traps in grass. The opportunity presented itself so I followed his lead. I also used my Fury 735c with Scorpion DC in an XG Model Shimano, which helped a ton believe it or not, mind you this is an 8 gear ratio reel, so it has high IPT. My guess was the bright craw pattern in dirty water gave them just enough look at the lure to investigate and once the lure popped free from the grass, they committed to it, and it was too late. I caught 15-20 fish mostly on these lures. The tube was hot until my leader broke off and I only brought one. My biggest was 4-5 lbs. It was definitely a memorable day!

Any crankbait painters on here?
Just wondering if there are any lure painters on board? I have decided that is the next phase of my fishing addiction. PM me...let's talk. I can keep you busy for a while.

Vanford Vs. Stradic FL 2500
For me, I prefer the NASCI. I think $100 is the sweet spot for spinning reels. Where's the technological advancement in flipping a bail and casting. Now a baitcaster, sure...there so much technology that goes in from the DC, MGL, and BFS. The SV Diawa, the Elite Spool. That justifies spending a bit more, but a spinning reel for $250 is either made platinum or is just because it's cool. To each his own, but it's a spinning reel. You throw it in the truck dig it out after work and catch a few dinks before getting an ear full of useless drivel from your wife. My every day reel is a Diawa Regal LT 3000. I love it, but I still say my NASCI is a sweet reel! Good luck in your search!!!

Discontinued lures that you wish would come back
I guess I don't get spinnerbaits. I have caught exactly 2 fish on them. 1 catfish and a dink.

H20 Express lures
Gotta get some! I don't like any of the blanks from the custom lure companies. These would be great painted in Megabass, Lucky Craft, Duo Realis colors. You can't find much of the good colors any way

River2Sea S Waver
Looking the S Waver, everyone says the Lite Trout is the deal. Will it work in Texas? We don't have trout. What color is an effective color?

Dobyns Champoin XP 705c Frogs & S-Waver 168
Wouldn't throw a 168, but a 120 would be fine.

What combo should I add to the arsenal next??
Maybe a glass rod if you're looking to improve your chatterbait game. Dobyns makes a 736CB in the Champion XP line. As for reels, I'd go with a 6 gear ratio. Maybe a Shimano SLX XT or a Bantam. In my book here are the essentials you need to cover everything. Treble hooks Finesse All Around Skirted Lures/Moving baits Jigs Worm Frogs

So I tested yozuri t7 fluorocarbon today for a bit
Yozuri is a very underrated company. Great jerkbaits and great lipless!
-
Fit and finish - which rod companies rise above?
Dobyns and Dobyns and that company named Dobyns. All those companies have the best stuff!

Discontinued lures that you wish would come back
I had so much luck with that Booyah Flex 2 squarebill!!! I miss that lure. What about you, what's that lure you miss?

2020 Metanium mgl owners
