When do you use braid and when do you use straight fluorocarbon?
This will blow everyones' mind...I use 30 pound braid on my Sedona 2500. Wacky-rigs and Nekos!

Daiwa Fuego CT Gear Set
If I understand this correctly, the only thing that separates a Fuego from a Tatula is a few extra bearings. I would assume you could get Tatula gearing and drop it in a Fuego and be ok. You can even get a Tatula Elite long cast spool and drop it in a CT.

Pick 5 lures for this scenario...
How can you tell if you have open pockets in grass from the bank? The only lure that was working for me is a 3" Spark Shad with an 1/8oz Strike King Baby Squadron Jighead. I was steady retrieving popping it every so often.

A company I like makes a hybrid jig. I'm really fond of it because it's so versatile.

Pick 5 lures for this scenario...

Pick 5 lures for this scenario...
Frogs in the winter? Why Texas Rig with a bullet? Why not weightless and burn it on top of grass? Won't the bullet weight it down? Explain that. Thank you.

Pick 5 lures for this scenario...
It's pretty thick in some areas, matted on top about 20% of the water, sparse in others from what I could gather. Grass come up from the middle edge all the way to the bank.

Pick 5 lures for this scenario...
I'm a pond hopper, I carry a 702/703sf, a 685CB, a 733c, 734c versatile rod, and 744c jig rod. Here is the scenario, a large grassy (milfoil, coontail, hydrilla) pond, on a bluebird winter day (55-60 degrees), depths range from 2 to 8 feet near the bank, water clarity is about 3 feet. Pick 5 lures you would fish.

Daiwa Elite Spools
Japanese websites, even American made Japanese equipment websites are impossible to find useful information. I can't find replacement spools anywhere on Diawa. Oh well, apparently everyone found out that TTT sold them and they're gone. Dream short lived. I was hoping to get one for my Fuego CT and to throw finesse crankbaits. I see Asian Portal has some aftermarket stuff, but I just wanted a Diawa Elite Long Cast. Kind of like buying an Oldsmobile Delta 88 and putting a twin turbo engine in it and nice sound system. I love my Fuego a lot, but it would be cool to get a spool upgrade.

Daiwa Elite Spools
So let me get this straight...you can upgrade your Fuego CT and Tatula CT with Elite Long Cast Spools? If true this is the most exciting news since sliced bread. You are basically turning your Average Joe CTs into bombers!!! The Fuego is easily the best sub $100 reel out there and the Tatula CT is the Fuego's big brother. This is going to be great!!! I have my Fuego on my cranking stick and Tatula for Small Swimbaits it'd be nice to get a few extra yards casting distance for both! Someone in the know fill me in. Thanks

Nice fish!!! As for me, I'm kicking myself for not having my phone with me, but the Megabass Dark Sleeper 3/8oz slayed them today!!! I caught (3-4) 2 pound largemouth bass and a beautiful pumpkinseed. All on the Dark Sleeper! I love this lure.

So 12 or 15 pound monofilament? I use 10lb currently.

Bank Fishing w/Jerkbaits
Nice fish! Look for the Table Rock Shad pattern. Purple back with Fluorescent yellow belly. This is hard to beat! I will warn you that the colors run a bit translucent. You can see the beads in the lure. I was a little thrown off by it, but I quickly lost apprehension when a pig pulled my line tight and took off in the opposite direction. I'm a bank fisherman too, what cadence were you using? Jerk jerk pause or explain how you caught it. I'm not very successful jerkbait fishing and I want to get better!

What lure did you catch your biggest bass on in 2021 ?
I wanted to try a new brand of JDM lures in a crankbait. I was hoping for some Megabass. I've got their stickbaits, but I've heard their crankbaits and I was disappointed that the said store didn't have them, even though they advertise on their website. I stumbled across a row of Lucky Craft and I was amazed at their colors. I ended up with the craw and the ms impulse shad in the Lucky Craft LC 1.5. I see where a certain company developed their inspiration from and if you look hard enough you'll know which company I'm talking about. A YouTuber named Ben and another Justin are sponsored by them. The picture doesn't do the bait color justice, but has hallographic scales and dark purple back basically sexy shad pattern highlights. Some might refer it to Table Rock Shad my favorite color just behind chatruese black.

Bank Fishing w/Jerkbaits
For 9 bucks you could have bought a Yozuri 3DB Jerkbait and I would put it against any Lucky Craft Pointer or Megabass Vision OneTen. The colors need work, but the action is fantastic!

The Dobyns 702SF Fury is extremely underrated!!! All open hook should be thrown on a 702.

FC or Braid for Chatterbaits
I'm glad I found this thread. I have been experimenting with a 1oz heavy dark sleeper and 6" Magdraft on a 735 Fury Shimano SLX DC 6:1 with 30lb Suffix Braid. This is my frog rod and I use a Scorpion DC 8:1 for those applications. I generally fish all moving baits on a 734 Sierra generally fish 12 to 15lb Copoly Yozuri with the same reel. To save money and keep from going out and buying a new reel, I figured keep it simple and change the reels out. The only thing that may be a little cumbersome will be fishing it around structure and mistaking structure for strikes. The sensitivity of braid and the constant contact with the bait can be a plus or a minus. What I'm looking forward to is fishing that weedless Crosseye on braid. I think this will be the deal!
