Fishing Podcasts
I hate hair jigs, ice fishing, marabou, and podcasts that contain any of it. It really makes me want to disassociate Texas from the northern portion of the US. That's how much I hate smallmouth bass fishing talk. Texas does not have them, so why must YOUDZ GUYS talk about them? I just want to hear about green fish. Remember 6 of your states could fit inside Texas, so it's a very valid point. Or maybe I'm just naive. I can't imagine the fun of putting deerskin jigs on a line and trying to fish with them. Or fishing in ZERO BELOW conditions. The Minnesota accents are pretty bad too. AYE?!!! Just a little rant. Sorry guys.

Traditional Ned Rig, whose given up and now just fishes Ned sized baits
I'm so ticked at myself for buying a box full of Ned Rigs. I was killing it a year ago. Now I might as well be fishing in my swimming pool. I feel like a Zoom Finesse Worm on a shaky head is more effective. The Ned is so disappointing.

I found this great place over by my local Academy. It has 3 ponds over 10 acres of dirty water with structure for days on end. The one I fished looked the best, so I lead off with a chatterbait, nothing bit it. I switched to an S Waver, nothing hit it. I switched to a trap, felt a few hits. This pond had a bunch of laydowns so I was confident that if they ticked the trap, I knew they'd hit the squarebill, but no. I remember reading that KVD likes to follow misses with a wacky rig, so I threw a bubble gum Ocho at them, and sure enough I smoked a few! I love that I can now fish methodically instead of casting a lure praying works. I also threw a buzzbait, and was amazed at the strikes. I never landed one but I tuned this particular buzzbait very nice. Crimped the rivet, rolled down my window and let the blade spin at high speeds I'm hooked on buzzbaits now, although I never caught a fish, the strikes are crazy. Buzzbaits trigger a defensive strike and you better be ready, because the fish will literally take the entire rod out of your hand as she explodes out of the water to strike.

Why do you fish?
It's a spiritual experience for me. I can block everything out, be still and interact with nature. It's actually a lifestyle for me. I'm divorced. My kids live 4 hours away, I can't see them often, so I've taken to fishing. It helps with the pain and void I feel in my heart.

Dean Rojas Fighting Frog
Probably the best Creature bait ever. Has an awesome hook concealer. Its just so well made. I use it when I throw Tokyo Rigs. Put a glass bead in between the two bullet weights down size on the bullets and you have a nice noisy presentation in muddy water or thick grass. Great lure.

Bladed Jigs vs. Swim Jigs : When To Select Each ?
For me, no matter what I lead with a chatterbait and I get bit. That's just how I roll bruh!!!

Tweaks to Chatterbaits
Get a pair snips and cut off the line tie of the original chatterbait and put on a VMC Crankbait snap. It runs about as good as a Jackhammer. Jackhammers of course are unbeatable, but these snap definitely help the lure track a ton better.

Shimano DC Reels
You'll like them...very much! The SLX DC is the sleeper of the bunch.

Cross eye chatterbaits snaps
I'm taking my changes on the Eagle Claw snap i got from Academy. The make up is very close to the snaps on the Jackhammer and Crosseyes. If it fails oh well. I still would rather take my chances with something like that over the stock junk that comes on the original chatterbait.

dobyns crankbait rods.
You're either going to love the feel of a glass rod or absolutely hate it. The glass rod isn't going to be as sensitive. Strikes are sometimes hard to detect versus a graphite rod. Glass is also like driving a car with no shocks on a bumpy road. You'll feel every thump especially a chatterbait. On the flipside you'll land more fish with a glass rod. Glass is more spongy feeling and has more bend. You can bomb a crankbait with them. Graphite has more feel. You can feel the crankbait off structure and rocks. The downside is you'll probably lose a few fish because they have more rigidity and some overcompensate on the hook set.

Cross eye chatterbaits snaps
The original chatterbait doesn't track well with the snap they use.

JDM Metanium
It takes a couple of days. If you are frustrated with UPS, FEDEX, USPS...Don't hold your breath on the oversea shipping racket. Shipping, in general, sucks. It makes me want to call the guy on the movie Castaway. Maybe he could fix the issues. Heck I'll trust anybody who could make a hatchet out of an ice skate!

No pictures but I had to put down the finesse spinning rods and the focus was on moving baits...it's officially moving bait season in Southeast Texas...if you have chatterbaits and squarebills get them out and hold on to your seat!!! Red got them fired up and I was extremely happy to finally catch a fish on a crankbait. There is nothing like catching fish on cranks such a fun bite!

Pros and Multiple rods
I'm convinced that the pros have multiple rods on deck for power trips. Half of those rods don't get used and it's like having a blankey when you were a kid. Security. Those guys know what technique they plan on working that day, but I'll just bring 4 spinning rods 4 medium heavy rods and 3 heavy rods and 2 cranking sticks...hey you never know...oh and I have 3 back ups for every rod on deck in my locker.

New rod/reel
The spool on the Elite bombs lures. I believe they call it the long cast spool. The Tatula CT is more suited for bottom contact. As for the rods. I personally prefer the 733C for spinnerbaits and finesse jigs. I have really taken a liking to the Champion XP 685cb. I fish ponds and it throws finesse squarebills, squarebills, perfect. As for all around rod the 703 is going to be a great moving bait rod. Although I am a firm believer in that extra 3 inches. The 3 power is a wonderful spinnerbait rod, I can't stress it enough. I feel like if you want to simplify your life and fish many different moving baits (spinnerbait, chatterbait, squarebill, lipless, maybe a buzzbait, you'll love the 3 power. Chatterbaits, you might want the 734 or 704. I like a softer tip...the Sierra series is just about as good as it gets. The Champion XP will be a little faster, the Sierra is softer which helps the vibration for moving baits. If you just want a cranking rod, the 705cb is your rod. The power for all purpose moving baits.

Favorite shimano baitcaster?
My favorite and has gotten the most use in terms of versatility is my Chronarch MGL. It's seen frogs, jigs, and is now burning spinnerbaits over grass! Sure you could get a Metanium which is a dream of mine, but you cannot go wrong with a Chronarch! For that matter, the Curado MGL is sneaky good too!

So would you go 1/2oz because of no trailer?

Best all around spinnerbait
Yes. Do I need 3/8 or 1/2oz? Blade Indiana, Colorado, or Willow...Colorado/Willow?

REDCREST 2022 ~ Grand Lake O' The Cherokees
Towards the end when Lane caught that fish, people where saying that was a rules infraction on how he handled the fish. What was the controversy about? Seems like he boat flipped the fish into the boat. What am I missing?

Best all around spinnerbait
I want to keep the lure higher in the water column because I fish grassy water. I use either a 7:1 or 8:1 so I can fish higher in the column. It seems the fish don't have as long to make a desicion and see if there is line attached and the force of some of the strikes, it makes it nice to have a little extra cushion in the form of some heavier pound test. I've been turned on to 30lb braid to 17 or 15lb leaders by the guys at Tactical Bassin. I hate leaders in general, but I have seen the benefits of it. I tend to catch more fish when I use them. No rhyme or reason it just works.

Best all around spinnerbait
Any experience with Megabass SV-3? Is the 3/8oz the most common size? I would assume if you wanted deeper you'd go with 1/2 or 3/4? My style of fishing spinnerbaits is to use 30lb braid to a 17lb Fluoro leader and burn it over grass...I use a trailer, 6th Sense Divine Swimbait.

If you were to buy just one color, what is your go to color for any water clarity what blades...what size?

Looking for a good "all around" reel. Curado K? MGL?
The K has more line capacity the MGL has more drag. The MGL is the way a Curado should be.
