  1. Look at the handle and the lock nut, if you can see Loomis influence, I can't help you.
  2. TFO looks very similar to G Loomis aesthetically. If I'm spending upwards to $400, I'm spending a little more and getting a Megabass P5. TFO was smart having general looks of a G Loomis with a small price.
  3. The X10 is made of recycled proprietary material. It was an experiment, I don't think they took off very well and at $399, there are better rods out there. I'd buy an IMX-Pro before X10. Megabass will probably rebrand the XX probably change color schemes, throw on a few different aesthetics. The XX is a line that they need to compete with Shimano/G Loomis. The $299 price point is very valuable and Megabass realizes that.
  4. While on the topic of Megabass X-Bites...can someone recommend a reel for it. I'm looking for high end. Something that would be a perfect compliment. I use the X Bites for hopping and dragging compact football jigs. Looking for a reel ideal for this. Would a Steez 70 or Metanium 70 DC be options. Help me decide.
  5. I've asked the guy at the local pro shop, he says he uses a 3000. You say a 2500. So confused. Does fishing have to be so complicated?
  6. Got the Vanford for my 822S DSR. Like that Stradic for the 852S JWR. Just not sure if I need the 3000 or 2500.
  7. Green Sunfish were the deal today. Beetle Spins and lite tackle.
  8. Zoom Finesse Trick Worms in Redbug on an Owner ShakyHead 1/8oz . GLX 822S DSR rod with Megabass White 3" Spark Shad with a Squadron Minnow Jig Head in 3/16oz Berkely Money Badger crankbaits the blaze orange blue back Megabass Vision 110 Jr Mat Shad or Elegy Bone Glidebaits-Bull Shad Trick Shads are my favorite right now (Mat Shad)
  9. I'm getting rid of all my Kistler's. Not a big fan. I would say go with the Expride B 6'10
  10. I was listening to Tactical Bassin and the Vanford falls under the Finesse category and the Twin Power goes under the Power category. The NRX+ will be finesse jigs, senkos, small swim baits, soft jerkbaits/flukes, Tubes, Neko rig, and full sized shakeyheads. It's a utility rod. I think for what he wants it for a Twin Power 3000 works fine.
  11. What do you recommend for fishing applications? Where does the NRX shine?
  12. Yeh, the Certate is a little rich for his blood. He has a Stradic 3000HG. I'm thinking about getting him a Twin Power 3000HG.
  13. Chatterbaits yes. On a chatterbait the trailer makes out the profile add meat to it. I feel like the color on the trailer makes the lure work. Where the spinnerbait I use the Megabass SV-3 kind of already has the trailer built in. Now I will use a trailer hook. I don't use on a chatterbait.
  14. I'm looking for a reel for this rod. Son just killed it in his first semester in college.
  15. Thin wire, i use 8 to 10lb Fluoro. They will bend out if you use larger lb test. Also a rod is key too. I recommend Expride 6'10" MF, Megabass Jerkbait Special, or Dobyns Kaden 610-4CB. All have moderate actions and lots of give. Those thin wire hooks are perfect with the right set up. It's trial and error. Sometimes, I get bit after I jerk and the bait is suspended. Other times I'm hit during a jerk. Remember these lures are designed to mimick a dying bait fish. So sometimes dead sticking and counting to 10 followed by a series of jerks works well.
  16. I'm a firm believer in Vision 110. Yes, it's a confidence lure for me. Worth every penny!
  17. Never, but i always use a stinger/trailer hook. Bass short strike that spinnerbait and after many misses, I decided to try it. I landed ever last one of them. Never again will I fish a spinnerbait without a stinger hook. My spinnerbait of choice is a Megabass SV-3, built in trailer. Try an SV-3.
  18. It freaks me out to stand up on a kayak. So unless you stand, jerkbait techniques are not recommended. The only way I see you being able fish a jerkbait is using a short rod like a 6'6" or something
  19. Megabass i-Loud or the i-Jack Deps Buzz Jet Combat Rat from Evergreen. G.I. from Raid Japan. Klash Joker. Tactical Wake 210 by River 2 Sea. Deps Tiny Bulldoze. Bucca Bull Shad Wake. SPRO Rat Wake.
  20. I second this. The 844 MBR is probably better than anything Megabass for all around.
  21. A good do everything in Orochi XX is the Tour Versatile. It will handle all those techniques fairly well. P5 the Daemos in the USA model or the Dark Sleeper in the JDM. Both, I consider do everything rods, similar to the Dobyns 734c. If you want something to do it all take a look at the G Loomis IMX PRO 744 MBR. It's about $100 cheaper and a very nice JDM rod. The Dobyns 735c is a great jig rod. That said, if you can afford it go with the Champion XP. Another rod to consider is the Kaden 744c. The Kaden is Megabass-ish with the non-sanded blanks which adds more sensitivity. I do want to warn you, Megabass has short triggers in the handle which can be cumbersome to some people. It takes a lot to get used to.
  22. Little late to the party, but I have a Kaden 610-4CB love it but want to get the Expride 6'10" Medium. The Expride paired perfect with the Daiwa Tatula 80. That's on my radar.
  23. Yes, I agree with most, but have you ever set a hook on a fish in a kayak with a longer rod? I nearly fell out of kayak setting hooks the other day. For me I feel like a shorter rod from a kayak makes sense to me and a safety hazard. It's cumbersome with longer rods on a kayak in general. It may be a bad choice, you live and learn.
  24. I'm in the market for a 7' heavy frog rod. I'm looking on a certain brand and their 7' heavy has a moderate action. That would mean it's got a parabolic tip with a heavy backbone. Is good for frogs? I'm looking for a shorter rod because I missed 7 fish froggin today with an expride 7'3" XHeavy on my kayak. I couldn't quite get a good swing on the 7'3". I would think a shorter rod might have been the deal. Any help is much appreciated.
