  1. I'm sure Brian appreciates the free advertising. Good dude with a great store.
  2. Or, buy some of these: Scum Frog Launch Frog. The hooks already stick up and the body is very soft.
  3. Tubers say a lot of things. I say, throw something different than the previous 20 boats that fished the spot. However, if red don't cut it then I'm pretty sure there's a shad patterned crank bait that will work besides a rock crawler.
  4. If we could measure hours on the trolling motor then I would have them stacked up! Most of the time I start my big motor to run a few minutes to my first spot then crank it again to head in.
  5. That's some good options there, for sure. Except none of them are made of wood as far as I can tell, which is what the OP is looking for; a walking bait made out of wood... I never knew there ever was a Sammy made of wood.
  6. Would that be your first lockdown since becoming a mod?
  7. Roll it in buttermilk, then roll it in Louisiana style cornmeal fish fry until completely coated. Deep fry it in peanut oil until the cornmeal is brown and crispy. Corn is a starch and isn't the best veggie for health anyway, so I cook it for taste not health.....
  8. We use cast iron every day. Griswold and Wagner are the favorite old skillets. However, there was an ad in the side column on this very forum that advertised for Smithey in North Carolina. I checked them out. They use the old artisan style of making their pans and they are smooth as glass. I bought my wife a couple and we absolutely love them! I am so glad I clicked on that ad!
  9. No reel is a sleeper after you get done tricking it out. Just sayin'....
  10. Me too. Love my Daiwa reels. They just work for me. I still have Lew's (2-P&S) that I enjoy, but overall my Tatura's just fit my fishing style. To each his own.
  11. But, you gotta admit in order for the reels to work perfectly you gotta have a grasp on the functions, including all brake options..... That's the main point to this whole topic. Besides, my statement was made with tongue firmly in cheek. It's all in good fun. One can't put himself out there with a thread title like this without expecting some constructive criticism and ribbing.
  12. Considering your latest truck purchase reading and understanding all the info available took a few days, I imagine. Heck, just the infotainment system alone with all the HVAC integrations takes a rocket surgeon to completely grasp all the options to get the most out of them. Well done. You should probably go back to the selling dealer and educate your sales person, as I'm sure their walk through presentation was lackluster at best.... Well, he IS on a bass fishing forum in the reel section, for crying out loud, stating he doesn't know his reel functions. Did you really expect everyone to gather around, hold hands, and sing Kumbaya to reaffirm his dereliction of duty to his fishing gear?? I think not!!
  13. Powell Naked Series 6104 CB Mod-Fast. It's 6'10" and in my opinion perfect for poppers and walking baits. I love fishing the Shower Blows on this rod. It's light as a feather, well balanced with my Tatula Elite, and has a great action on the cast and hook set. I really enjoy fishing it. You can see the Shimano World Pop peeping out from under the rod in my pic. I caught some nice fish my last outing on the World Pop and the rod was spot on.
  14. And they're on sale right now.
  15. I suggest the Mustad KVD Grip Pin Hook as well. It does well keeping the toad head in place fish after fish. I started using a dab of super glue as well and the frog seldom rides up the line.
  16. Don't you know COVID came from a bat sandwich??? Don't be eating bats!
  17. Wow. This is news to me. My Palomar knots are often used for months with no issues. Now that I know this they'll all fail tomorrow.....
  18. Zoom does limited runs in special colors once a year. My favorite is Candybug.
  19. If you go with the electronics upgrade and your old trolling motor goes down your hot rod electronics are basically useless. Upgrade the trolling motor, keep fishing until you save up for the electronics upgrades, and you'll be better off.
  20. Careful!! She's getting ready to pop you with a major expense SHE wants!! Buttering you up like that is just a setup! Proceed with caution and question EVERYTHING!!!
  21. Funny you mention since at that time I wore prescription glasses and had them on. I got hooked on the back cast which flipped my glasses out in the lake and buried the hook past the barb. Only a pair of ski goggles or a full face helmet would've prevented this accident.
  22. Here's my boat towing rig. 2010 GMC 2500HD. 6.0 gas burner. 83,000 miles. Love this truck.
  23. I am convinced that this scenario has little to do with visibility and everything to do with line characteristics. Fluorocarbon sinks, mono floats. And the diameter drastically affects the action of the bait used. Based on your statement one would assume the bait was small and light and thus greatly affected by these factors; line sink rate and diameter.
  24. It's not. My darling wife despises a stick shift so I went with the auto for when she wants to take it.
  25. agreed 100%! No note on the Vette, woo hoo!!
