Pickup truck with shorter bed
I wouldn't tie to the kayaks handles, they aren't made for that. When I had a truck I would run one strap through the front handle but the pressure when I tightened the strap was downward on the kayak itself. The handle did none of the work. A second strap wrapped around the back of the kayak and did most of the work. On my van roof I wrap the straps around the kayak and not through any handles. I have a third strap running through the pedal drive hole and tied onto the rack just in case.

When do they change from crayfish to crawfish?
I'd say you are correct as they are certainly not fish!

Bass Buries Itself In The Weeds
My friend had one wrapped up in some underwater branches and he waded out there and took care of it. Sometimes fishing is inconvenient for the angler as well as the fish.

Anyone else a metalhead?
Heck ya. I saw Rammstein 8 years ago or so. Great show. Disturbed ya. I used to listen to Maiden religiously but not anymore. In fact the past couple years I've been listening to Billie Holiday a ton, and the great sax players like John Coltrane, Stan Getz and Lester Young. I love that stuff. This music keeps me calm and I need that these days. It's so relaxing, especially driving. If I'm on a long drive then I'm screaming with Disturbed or torturing the German language singing with Rammstein. Most days now I just wanna be mellow. Too much in the world that agitates me already. Hate: Guns n Roses. Specifically Axel Rose. Who the heck listened to that guy sing and said, "Yeah, he's awesome let's hire him!" Especially the ballads, my frickin gawd he's awful. Like my music theory teacher said - "You can make good music or you can make money with music, it is very rare to do both"

Mental health issues?
I've used it some. It's one of those things where I say, "I took some but I'm not sure if it's doing anything" It definitely has medical uses. If I take 2 I may feel slightly calmer. Take another and I can feel it. It mainly helps me sleep better though. One difference (not the only) between the Amazon CBD and the good stuff is that a lot of CBD products also contain a small amount of THC, the component that gets you high. The THC helps deliver the CBD into your system (so it is said). Amazon can't sell that, only dispensaries. The THC is not enough to get you high unless you eat a bunch of them. I think each of these particular gummies have 5 MG of THC each. 15 MG is supposed to be equal to a placebo effect. Anything higher than that and you will get the THC effect as well (high). I told my Dad, "You will have some THC in your system if you are ever checked". He was fine with that - he didn't take enough to get high. He doesn't want dispensaries in his town but it's perfectly fine for HIM to use the products (don't tell his friends!). Hypocrite Small steps oh well. Another difference is that most of the Amazon etc stuff are made from hemp or hemp seed, which is not the same as regular cannabis. Of course to get the good stuff it has to be legal where you live (disclaimer). My Mom wants to try it. She has some but hasn't tried it. Stepdad too. They are very conservative too, if that matters.

Sell my nice truck or suffer?
I think we're focusing a bit too much on the use of the word "suffer". It's okay to complain even though you aren't a paraplegic.

Well that was different
Found the video (starts at the duck). Looks like I saw the duck and yanked the bait just before he dove. probably why he saw it. I thought he'd get tangled in my line. He looks confused afterward.

My stomach is on fire. My meal after a tough fishing trip.
Tell you what I do NOT do and that is punish myself like Greg Blanchard does by sitting in a In n Out drive-thru for 30-45 minutes waiting for a tiny burger and soggy fries. He said he spent 45 minutes in line before and I believe that. The In n Out near me constantly has 25-30 cars in line snaking around the parking lot. Half hour easy. I could cook a burger and come back and still see the same people in line! "Here's your sign!" Edit to add: I skunk all the time in my local waters. I just go home.

What's your guess as to how this happened?
Where did the photo come from? Tried a reverse image search and found nothing. Was hoping there would be a news story attached. That bar/bumper looking thing on the back of the truck kinda looks like the bar that's on the back of a lot of tow trucks. i see more than one cable coming off the tow truck. If the truck flipped on the dock then I don't see how it could have been submerged in the water afterward. It would have to slide down the ramp upside down, then completely underwater which I find unlikely. Trailers aren't that heavy. Maybe the dude stabbed the gas pedal when he hit the dock and floored it. Maybe the tires aren't actually wet and this is exactly where it landed. Or tow truck may have partially dragged it and straightened it out. I don't see how it could flip once it was in the water unless it floated out kind of far first. The water would have to be deep to roll and sink. Possible though. If so then who dove down and connected the tow truck cable? Don't see any likely candidates in the photo. The more I think about the less likely it overturned in the water. I've seen videos of truck floating away and never seen one even close to tipping. I doubt this scenario. They aren't exactly top-heavy, but still I'll say it's possible. By the way, where's the boat? After further looking I'll say the truck flipped on the dock (alcohol), the truck never made it to the water at all and the tires are dry. I'll say the mystery bar is part of the tow truck and they are using it to help drag the truck. Not sure how but I see cables leading that direction. I think that is the simplest explanation.

What Time of Day for your PB

Spotted Bass, good or bad?
I wonder who the bass think the invasive species are?

Well that was different
I had a T-rigged worm on the bottom of a clear 2 foot deep creek. A duck started to swim by and I watched him for a bit. Just as he passed over my worm he dove for it. I reacted quick and jerked the worm away. Poor duck swam around for 30 seconds trying to spot the worm again then gave up. Was kinda cute. I can't remember which video it's in or I'd post it. Poor dude.

Looks Like I’ll Be Taking A Break
My Mom saw a chiropractor for at least 20 years, every week. My parents recently moved to Oregon, well a year now. I asked her if she found another one (I always told her she was wasting her money). "Well no. Whenever my neck feels tight I just stretch and it feels fine. I'm not going to look for another one" I'm not totally against chiros but many claim they can do the impossible ("Brain Balancing" among others). Don't be afraid of second opinions either. Some doctors aren't very good. What do you call the person who graduated dead last in their class in medical school? "Doctor"

How big do Flies get in your area?
I wanna know what those tiny looking flies are here. The ones that hover around or above you in a group and follow you along the bank or road you're walking on. Like gnats but bigger. Like flies but smaller. Little scoundrels don't bite, they rarely even land, they just get in your face and tick you off. That's what makes me the most agro sometimes. "You worthless craps don't even BITE you just fly in my face, what good are you!!!!!!!"

Mental health issues?
Too much salt can lead to hypertension and anxiety (high blood pressure). Just one of a thousand causes but we have a hypertension problem in the US. My 80 year old Dad has been having a hard time (Luke you know a little about this I think). He asked me if he should try CBD (the good stuff not the crap on Amazon or in regular stores) so I sent him some gummies. I've taken them. He is NOT a pot person at all. He was starting to drink every day to cope so I figured heck ya try it, can't hurt. He said it seemed to have a calming effect. He's a skeptic like me so he tried it for a month. He really liked it. A lot safer than booze and it doesn't even get you high. He stopped after a month or so when things settled down. Not addictive. I'm not suggesting anyone take any medication though, see a doctor. CBD - he could eat the whole bag and not overdose. Can't say that about most prescription stuff.

Adding a Kayak Trolling Motor
Only thing I can add right now is that I'd still want the pedals even with a motor. If the motor breaks you're paddling a heavy bathtub of a boat, plus like you said Koz, pedals are good for when you're actually fishing. Lithium batteries are getting very cheap, almost the same cost as AGM (in usable amp hours per dollar), plus 1/5 the weight. I could add a motor to my Sportsman and use the pedals as my spot lock. Spot lock would be nice if you can afford it of course. I think I'd only use the motor for distance travel.

Why a Kayak?
Me too. And I've seen guys paddle up, pop their wheels on and walk right up the ramp, not using a vehicle at all. I do all my stuff in the dirt next to the ramp, or on a dock out of the way. I don't sit on the ramp and do any of it. And I invite boats to come down next to me if they can. I told one guy "Go on ahead of me" and he took both lanes of the ramp...moron! But he was quick. I've been boating my whole life and boaters, yakkers, whoever, can all be stupid on the ramp.

Karma's a beotch!
This story isn't about me it's about the other guy: I found rods last year at a local creek, 2 of them, not very good. I waited all day and nobody claimed them, they were just laying there in the open. I didn't want anybody else to grab them. I waited until it got close to dark, then I picked them up and left. Couple days later I put a sign up at the creek with my number and email "Found rods! If you can describe them they are yours" I put a short video on Youtube as well. After two weeks and no claims I bought a rod for one of the reels (Black Max maybe?). Bought an HMG. Love that rod. Very next day I get an email. "Hey my buddy sent a photo of your sign - I think those are my rods!" He described them perfectly. To be completely honest there was a brief moment of mild disappointment. Not much and not for long though........ Dude drives over with his son. "Wow thank you so much! I had to leave the rods because my other son who is 11 had a seizure and had to be airlifted out of there" Whoa. Now I figured since these were rather cheap rods that they may be someone's only gear. I really wanted them returned. "His grampa gave him one of those rods. My son is still in the hospital (2 weeks later yikes). Hopefully we can do this Striper tourney next week but he's touch and go" I have no idea what his medical issue was I didn't ask. Of all the people I was hoping would come for these.....I mean I thought it may be some jerks who litter all the time, I'd gladly keep their rods. But this guy....holy cow man. I was so happy to give them back. He wanted to pay me and of course I refused. This story isn't about me. Yes it felt great but it's about how much the other guy really missed his gear. You just never know. That story blew me away. We were gonna fish but I never heard back. I don't know what happened with his son. Hopefully they are fishing together. So I bought a new Fuego to go with my now reel-less HMG haha. So this whole thing cost me $200!!! hahahaha but I love that combo and I'm so glad to have it. ********************** My theory on karma is that it's actually one's conscience. If you kick a dog and feel bad about it, it may distract you so much that you step in front of a car and get run over. You feel guilty. It bothers you. This explains why nothing bad ever seems to happen to evil people. They have no conscience, they are the only important thing in the world to them. Therefore they will always be looking out for the car. They care only for themselves.
