  1. But we're not batteries.....yet.
  2. For simplicity sake... I like making the sheet larger along with the the snippet idea. Also you could take smaller snips. It would require more posts but maybe that would allow posting the whole thing clearly. Alternately I think if you use the attachment icon it will be downloadable and if people are really interested they can have their own copy. Also what Glenn said cause like he's the site guy!
  3. I've purchased both a reel and rod from AE. No issues other than longer shipping and that actually ended up being a lot quicker than quoted.
  4. When I boat fished from my friends boat or rentals on vacation we basically fished three ways. One, mostly casting to the bank, docks, laydowns, bluffs where the creek channel swung etc. Two, we fished structure (and cover). Things like points, humps, saddles, submerged trees, roadbeds, bridges etc. Three, we'd troll bays and near some of the structure. If the wind was blowing right we'd sometimes just let that blow us through a bay and "blind" cast. Our approach depended on the type of water, time of year and quarry. For me confidence didn't come until I had success.

I think the question you really need to ask yourself is why are you doing it. If it's to make money then you might be undercharging. If it's to be neighborly then what you mentioned sounds fair.
  6. Just heard this blurb on the radio, not mine, but definitely belongs in this thread, "cranberry juice tastes like it doesn't want to be wet"
  7. Is that with or without reels attached?
  8. Same on the length. Florida bass is no longer a subspecies? What's the reasoning behind that? And if the Florida bass is no longer a subspecies how is this fish classified as hybrid?! Not directed at you, just trying to understand...
  9. I experienced this ^^ the other day when fishing with my 6 spinning and 6 casting. I stupidly nested the casting reel. I had to consciously slow down the spinning reel which was mildly uncomfortable to the brain/body. So I guess yes to your question. Now I think I "need" a lower geared spinning reel. Stupid monkey 🙃
  10. This ^^ You can sometimes upsize your hooks using a shorter shanked hook. Meaning if you find you have 6's on a bait you can maybe get away with putting on short shank 4's. Depending on the bait geometry the hooks may or may not tangle. In that case maybe try one short shank 4 and one 6. Same deal going from 4's to 2's.
  11. So as you stated this is as far as you go. Is it fair to assume the only reason to go further is if the workings you left attached are looking a bit gnarly etc. Do you clean any of that stuff you left attached? If so how? Also the spool bearing A-Jay refers to. Is that the bearing in the side plate or is that bearing in the inner workings of the reel where the shaft goes in? I suppose I could just look at my reel(s) schematic(s). Also I don't see the level wind or thumb bar mechanism in that pic. What's your deal with those? Sorry if some of this has been covered. I know we have the thread someone started that was supposed to be the main reel maintenance thread and there have been various other discussions over the years. For various reasons I've been kicking around the idea of trying to do some of this maintenance myself. I used to maintain my bicycles back in the day. Altho we used gasoline to degrease and clean everything lol smh... so I'm familiar the basics and the why's. Just never took down a reel and the parts are a lot stinking smaller. Oh... that zero adjust. That's just extra tight to turn right? Kinda like the those stay tight nuts that have plastic or something in them (forget their name). Probably a fair amount of this in on youtube? Okay, starting to ramble. I'm done.
  12. Did you pay the fee or refuse the package/send it back?
  13. What he do to get barred? 🤣 Really cool pic of the flicker! Never saw one before.
  14. Whatcha got? Not that I need anything but......I'll be passing through Rockford in about a month.
  15. You must be putting off some bite me pheromones 🙃. We spent a week at scout camp in wall tents with a good population of wolf spiders. I honestly don't recall anyone getting bit.
  16. That's exactly what I was thinking, the expensive thing. It's probably more than I spend on my week long vacations. Although it is an investment in himself. Also up until now I thought I was the only one who used "ken". Agreed on outfishing the live bait guys!
  17. More mice more hawks? I believe crows are somewhat omnivorous.
  18. Really sorry. Can't even begin to imagine the depth of your sorrow. It sounds like you had someone really special and that makes it that much harder. I'd just like to add that by the very act of sharing, you're on the path to healing. Just take it one day at time.
  19. I was getting the tarnish off my spinnerbaits and on one of them the split ring attaching the blade to the swivel was looking a little oval. On another bait I had to replace the split ring and blade as it got cast off several years ago. It was a subpar split ring and didn't notice until it was too late. I know the replacement for that one is oversized cause it just barely fit on and is sitting on the swivel in the split ring gap. It seems like some of the split rings that attach the blades to the swivels are a fine wire and will spin through the small swivel holes. Idk..in thinking while typing this I can either cannibalize off a small crank or might have something in my broken lures. Still.... curious as to what brand and size/type of split rings you guys use when building spinnerbaits. Thanks
  20. That's pretty slick. Is the hook a lighter gauge or heavier. Prefer a little lighter as thinking finesse for smallies.
  21. I'm going to suggest that @A-Jay NOT start a winter 2026-2027 thread. Maybe, just maybe, the next one won't be so bad. lol
  22. At least you got out! I've caught fish under those conditions but I feel like it was more of a timing thing at those water temps. Low/mid forties get me more consistent bites.
  23. If the beer and/or make nice doesn't work... Do you have a picture? Maybe a wide angle? One, you could maybe complain to the township? Two, maybe there's an alternate way they could plow the snow. They just haven't thought of it and are doing what they've always done. Actually if I'm picturing it correctly why can't they just plow to each side and leave a gap in the middle for you?
  24. I've been fishing it for like 8 years or so. Mostly 20 lb. test. No complaints except for operator error wind knots. And even then those usually come out if I work them long enough, sometimes need to take the spool off (spinning).

I enjoy both the winter and summer olympics. One summer a bunch of us kids hosted made our own olympics complete with homemade medals. Good times! Watched a little of the doubles curling the last two days. Pretty interesting.
