How do you know

I usually use 10# or 12# test

COVID still is slowing stuff down.

I use 10# High Viz braid and 10 FC leader , leader length is from the reel to the tip then back down to the reel.

I have had very good luck with Kastking reels.

I put mine above the reel seat, used a #3 split ring and a very small ty wrap.

Don't bash me for this Kastking has come out with Zephyr Spinning reel starting at $39.99 depending on the size also have a Zephyr SFS reel(more money).

I use my 702 for Neds and the 703 for Shakey Heads

If the reels aren't braid ready need to add a backing whether it be tape or mono. Also check out You Tube on installing braid on reels. Seems like there are a few different techniques installing with and without backing.

I just read an article where a pro was fishing 40# braid. He said it was very sensitive, if you think you have a bite just give a few cranks on the handle, because you can possibly be snagged.
