  1. If you can get somewhere to put your mitts on one would be the best case. The Zodias tends to be faster than advertised and in a heavy you should be a able to punch through overhanging trees, down past the Lilly pads and deep in the grass with no trouble...I'm just guessing though?
  2. I went through a stage when I was a kid in the late 70's and early 80's where everything my mother or father got me was orange or maroon. A skateboard, my jacket, my shoes, a freshly painted bike, a adidas jump suit (yes jumpsuit). My mother's car and my best friends mother's car. Although I was grateful for everything that was provided inside those colors just wore me thin. To this day I will purchase nothing in those colors, Lime and olive green and baby blue are out but deep forest green is a winner to me.. I know it's silly but it's my silly way.
  3. And it was done on an Aldebaran..... That like watching a guy in a Ferrari learn to drive a stick?
  4. That is much better, The wrap kinda has a NRX tone.
  5. Nothing personal but I just cant do it! This is why I never bought a Carrot Stick. When I see that green on Lew's, 13 fishing or Googan Rods I think of Buzz Lightyear..... I was too old for him also.
  6. I noticed the Curado DC was at the top of your list. I'd suggest The SLX DC to start. It uses the same brake system IDC4 as the Curado and $50 cheaper. Wait a week and see what Fathers days sales happen, you might score something at a nice price. If your willing to wait 10 days or so you can get a SLX DC 70 JDM version from Japan with a nicer paint scheme and two more bearing(handle). 7. I have a separate tackle box set up for crappie/white bass panfish. roadrunners are great but you can do better by getting Fin Spin jig heads or type Jig Head with Spinner online. It's cheaper and you can use a tube skirt for subtle presentations or a swim tail for more action. Bobby Garland Baby Shad in watermelon wine is a deadly Redbreast fry. Bass Assassin makes great soft baits for them. a regular grub body Crappie magnet plastics ETC...
  8. It's got a lot of red breast and green bream in there, So much variety in them it's to hard for me to tell.
  9. It's give and take at that weight. Are you truly after distance at that weight and are you going to be OK with the sacrifices. 1/32 will require a moderate UL rod and manufacturing design will affect that. You'll need to get your hands on one or take peoples word for it. What can really throw a 1/32 well from what I personally know.. Diawa Presso's = any of them! backbone starts midway large guides for better casting, A lot of parabolic bend and flexy feel. Diawa Procyon UL 7.1 ft = Lots of backbone 3/4 up shaft, Micro guides with nice tip about 14 inches of flex at cast but slightly forced at that weight to me. Cadence Lux ULM 7ft = A wet noodle that can cast below it's belt at 1/64 accurately. Backbone is weak but worth the trade if your after casting control at the lightest tackle. good luck
  10. New Legais 2000D w/ 4# Vicious Hi Vis Mono & Cadence Lux 702-ULM. I can cast a Trout/Panfish Magnet (1/64th) better that anything I've tried so far... I can actually feel the weight of the magnet on the back swing and the 30 ton graphite is very sensitive. It's a noodle and you cant steer or muscle a small fish out of the grass or anything, especially with the mono, but you can accurately cast which is a first for me with the Magnet. The Hi Vis Vicious was also a first and I know I drilled the hook in a few more fish seeing the movement of the line. I think a light Hi Vis fluorocarbon would sweeten this rig by reducing the stretch and giving a little more control when hooked up. The reel is really light and buttery, The thing feels a bit more refined due to the tighter tolerance in the knob and the 2000 size paired great with the twig like structure of the light rod. To sum it up this is a solid lock on my light tackle and will stay in this configuration as far as I can see. My son took the pics at the pond. He had this in hand when I'd go to the other rod and stated he really like the marriage or the setup and may get the rod too. A fatter bedder.
  11. Old legalis 2500 w/ 6# Floroclear & Diawa Presso 702ULFS. I have to force the cast on a Trout/ Panfish (1/64th) magnet to get distance and it seems to like a Crappie Magnet at 1/32nd and 1/16th, Lots of flex with medium back bone to save ripping lips. The old Legalis is smooth and a bit heavier, I but noticed the slop in the knob compared to the new version. A fat bedding Bluegill... kinda looks like a big Warmouth Hybrid.
  12. I'm fishing UL on the old 25OO and the 2000D so flex is something cant speak on...sry.
  13. I've been working late and won't be off till Sunday so I haven't fished it yet. I can tell you if feels really light but too soon to judge. I'll take it and its Older sibling out together and see ........if it will quit raining.
  14. If I were to spend Truely spend $150 for this set up I would first buy one of two rods in ML 7ft' rods. 1-https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072K2DR1P/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&aaxitk=347dd79a14e760d46a9060d8f9872b88&hsa_cr_id=1725706520601&pd_rd_plhdr=t&pd_rd_r=fe631a86-20f2-4907-8c9d-f65878649f56&pd_rd_w=0eOVH&pd_rd_wg=iTRkR&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_mcd_asin_1_img 2-https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Aird_X_Spinning_Rods/descpage-DAXS.html That way I would be able to get a really nice reel in a 2500 that will stay in your arsenal for a while, my favorites are..... Shimano - Sahara and Nasci Both are super smooth and the Nasci has some seals if you want to do some salt fishing. All around great reels. Diawa - Legalis LT or Exceler LT Both are phenomenal reels for the money, Super smooth and I prefer the line catch on the bail arm and handles over the Shimano's. the minor details are nicer. Down the road any of the four reels would set nicely on a $150 rod and not feel out of place.
  15. This just came in today, The Legalis got a makeover. The old Legalis is one of my favorite Spinners so I had to get the new one! This Cadence Lux 7ft UL rod throws my Trout/Panfish Magnets the furthest so it got a sweet little reel update.
  16. Better Scorpion Pics. Better JDM SLX Pics.
  17. Sometimes I feel like they are on the wrong side.. I just cut out a backlash of 30# Power Pro that has never got wet!.........So much for a few practice throws in the front yard.?
  18. I was thinking that, It's got a metallic flake in it that look's nice in the sun. The IDC 5 breaking system been really great so far. I'll get a better photo up when I get home.
  19. Cravin replied to BassSteve's topic in Other Fish Species
Tilapia are very durable bread of fish, They can survive in very high concentrations of salt water and do great in fresh. They dominate the Salton Sea where little can adapt. They bread at a high rate and are a very clean tasting fish. I like to make fish tacos with them. Feel free to keep them, you wont put a dent in the population and they aren't fishy tasting.
  20. I agree with Big'un, The Hybrid Ceramics are super smooth but really load, I took mine out because in the long run it wasn't distance I was after. I just wanted to enjoy my old reel and the bearing didn't really upgrade it much but did change it.
  21. Thought I'd finally give them a try! 21 Scorpion DC hg on a Zodias 7'2 Medium Moderate. ( feels like a MHF) 20 SLX DC 70 JDM 6.3 on a St. Croix Triumph 7ft MHF. I'm thinking of 15lb fluorocarbon on the Scorpion for flukes, light swim jigs, chatter baits etc. The SXL with 30# or 40# braid for pitch and flip, top water and possibly a frog. I'm looking for some suggestion from everyone with these new DC's and see if there might be something I'm overlooking here.
  22. Ive put some thought into this but have yet to balance a rod, now that I have the tip heavy MOJO I might balance it. I've fished it quite a few times and the only time I notice the tip weight is when I'm not fishing it. :-/ I palm the reel so I think it doesn't affect me as much as someone who may hold farther back?
  23. Maybe this will explain it better? If your backlashing as soon as you cast or in the middle to almost end of casting your spool is releasing line faster than the weight and momentum of the lures traveling speed from the cast. remedy by tightening the spool tension knob. If your get loose line or slight nets at the very end of you cast its in the Brake setting, magnetic or variable which ever you have. When a lure looses momentum that is when the brake setting takes effect.
  24. Set two brakes not four, and set you spool tension tighter, as a beginner I like to set it so that you have to bump the rod to get the bait to fall, when the bait falls 24 to 36 inches and stops you are set for casting. Once you get more familiar with the feel and the way it throws you can back off the tension and get more distance. Be very aware of wind, If you turn into the wind and cast you may be picking out another nest.
  25. I agree with everyone! I would get a Citica or a Revo S, the Variable Braking System will reduce frustration on the learning curve and both reels are top notch new or used. If you decide you like them you can drop more money on their big brothers later. If you don't you can unload them here at the flea market and get some of your money back, You won't have a problem selling if you price them right.
