  1. He bit off more than he could chew.
  2. I saw a youtube that says peg when you're doing a vertical presentation and no peg with a horizontal one. Makes sense to me.
  3. I have a friend that pours blue worms and catches a bunch on Lake Lanier. I've been using Zoom Okochobee Craw trick worms with good luck in the same lake. It's blue on top and green pumpkin on the bottom.

The problem with gators is people feeding them, otherwise they'll mostly leave you alone. I'd inquire with people that live there.
  5. Columbia Craw, don't wish your life away. Getting old sucks.
  6. Being on a fixed small income the gas prices are keeping us from going. We have a small camper that we pulled from GA to Maine four years ago. Took a kayak and fished in several states. Even caught a fish.
  7. In a drawer in the basement. Seems to last forever that way.
  8. Went out early this morning and soon caught 2 small LM and 1 better one @ 2lbs. Went down the bank and threw a worm in a dock and caught a snapping turtle. I was barefoot so went up on the deck and released it from there. A short while later I was dragging a worm down the bank and caught the largest Alabama Bass I've caught in a few years @ 4.03lbs. Was back @ the dock @ 11. Too hot.
  9. IMO catfish fight harder than bass so if you're not keeping fish what's not to like?
  10. An anchor helps keep the canoe/kayak stable enough to set the hook and fight the fish without going in the bushes.
  11. I use my teeth for 12lb and under fluoro and mono and my Leatherman for braid.
  12. For 40 years I've been bass fishing often and after moving to GA from S. CA. I've been bass fishing several times a week including spending winters in Central FL. I catch lots of bass including some good ones but up until this year my largest bass was 6-11. In 1980 I caught a 6lb bass in Lake Castaic and ever since I've tried to catch a larger one. I haven't spent the time or the $ to truly catch a larger one. I'd have to be more dedicated than I am. Maybe next winter. The previous 40 years I fished mostly in the Pacific.
  13. When in the kayak I carry my phone, wallet and epi pen in a dry bag clipped to the under side of the hatch cover. I carry a digital camera in a dive case in my PFD. I've lost a flip phone in my shirt pocket when I leaned over to rinse my hands.
  14. Yes. The lighter weight and less wrapping towards the tip the crisper the rod will seem. A few years ago I took the heavy, single foot, guides off a 7' spinning rod and installed Minima guides. It's like a new rod. Tape the double foot guides on and then single footed ones and compare.
  15. Do as MickD says and keep it for repairing the next rod you break. The guides can also be used when you step on one in the boat.
  16. When I go on another boat I bring a worm rod, a topwater rod and a moving bait rod with a spinnerbait or crankbait.
  17. I can imagine that. Thanks for the laugh.
  18. There is a salvage yard near me that sells on ebay also. You might call them. Marine Liquidators Cumming, GA 770-888-2628.
  19. All good answers. If you're going to use your trolling motor for bass fishing it's far better to attach it to the bow. I have a 14' boat with an electric start 25 and a 30 lb thrust trolling motor mounted to the bow with an L bracket. No charging circuit on the engine but the battery lasts for a long time with a group 27 deep cycle battery. Also a small fish finder on the same battery. You have to turn the control head around for the bow mount, easy to do.
  20. Bought a Tatula LT and have been using it a few months; really nice. 2000 is under 6 oz.
  21. I've been using high build Flexcoat for over 40 years with good results. I cures much faster than Procote. I buy the 2oz bottles that come with syringes. I mix 1cc for freshwater rods and is lasts for dozens of rods.
  22. My regular finesse worm rod is a Rainforrest IMMWS62MXF-TC blank. 6'2" walleye blank 6-15lb line. I use 6lb mono or braid with a 6lb leader and a 1/16th oz weight. I don't have any problem setting the hook with that setup. My heavier T/R setup is a 6' medium baitcaster with 8lb fluorocarbon and a 1/8th oz sinker. The ultra light is still too soft for a solid hookset IMO. The 2.18lb Alabama was fun though.
  23. A safer way is boil a cup of water and put the container in the cup.
  24. It's an addicting hobby but fun. If you're serious about fishing, especially bass, you'll be making rods for every technique. If you already haven't go to Rodbuilding.org for lots of information and venders that have all the parts you'll ever need.
