  1. When I'm in FL the water is usually shallow, less than 12', and I'll anchor if I want to thoroughly fish a spot. I don't have a spot lock or power poles. On rivers either with my boat or kayak I'll anchor all the time.
  2. For vertical a jigging spoon is my go to bait.
  3. I've caught Suwanee Bass in several places with the Santa Fe being one. I use a finesse worm with 6 lb line for all of my river bass. I fish the Georgia Bass Slam each year and try to catch all 10 kinds of black bass in GA with a Suwanee being one of them. IMO they're the second prettiest bass.
  4. One of my main lures in winter is a 1/2 or 3/4 oz jigging spoon. Find fish or bait on the locator.
  5. A few of my friends in FL use them for shiners.
  6. What are you planning on spending? One man's bank is different from another's.
  7. A 30 lb is plenty for a 10' boat. The 55 lb are way heavier and you won't need it. A 50 ah lithium will let you fish for several days before it needs charging if you're like me. I fish no longer than 5 hours @ a time. Welcome.
  8. I bought a spool of KastKing 60 lb from Amazon a few years ago and have been using it without a problem. Frogs, toads and flipping.
  9. Eagle Claw Brent Chapman worm hooks are what I buy @ Walmart. The best quality for 1/2 what the other premium hooks cost. Yes I walk through. A long while ago they were blowing out IM 7 rods for $7, I bought all of them and caught hundreds of bass with them.
  10. I find the BassPro power hump reel seats very comfortable.
  11. I use Sally Hanson Hard as nails clear nail polish when I can't put Flex Coat on. When I get back home I'll put Flex Coat on over the nail polish.
  12. Built an ultralight rod earlier this year and pinned a worm on to see if I could catch a bass. After not being able to set the hook on several I pinched the barb down and caught a 2 lb Alabama Bass and a couple of smaller ones. 4 lb mono.
  13. Use them until they're too short then discard.
  14. Sounds like an epic trip.
  15. I use a garbage can also for my old Merc 50.
  16. Caught my PB in March of this year on a store bought double willow spinnerbait. White skirt nothing added.
  17. First try the portable tank. If it runs, drain or pump out the tank, add a can of gas treatment, fill it up and it should be fine. 2 stroke, 4 stroke, 3 cylinder, 4 cylinder?
  18. All good now, it changed back.
  19. On this site only my cursor changed from an arrow to a small arrow with a dot on the bottom. Anyone else?
  20. I don't freeze them. If I catch a fish we want to eat I'll filet it and cook that evening or the next.
  21. Caught my PB, over 7 but still want a double digit fish. I've fished where they are for several years but struck out.
  22. Hi Phil, I'm like you but considerably older, 83. I have a boat in the water most of the time but only fish short days. In the AM when it's too hot in the afternoons and PM when it's too cold for me. If ski boats and wake boats are out I go home. My passion for fishing hasn't ebbed much but, as you say the body has. I'm still able to kayak fish rivers for different bass for the Georgia Bass Slam but not as often. I'll be in Central FL in January for a few months and get in touch with you if you'd like. When I'm in FL I usually fish alone several times a week either on rivers, Withlacoochee or Rainbow or the many lakes around me. I have a late '80s 16' tin bass boat that gets me in the water. Alex
  23. For the life of me I can't tie an FG with leader lighter than 12 lb so I tie a 3 wrap surgeons knot or alberto. I usually use 6 or 8 lb leader with 10-15 lb braid.
  24. Many years ago I built a mount for a spare tire on the front of my trailer that swung down and had a pin so it rolled on the ground. I used it for really shallow ramps in Baja. I'd hook a chain from the trailer to the truck and push the boat and trailer down the ramp until it floated. To retrieve I did the reverse. This was with a dual wheel trailer and a 5000 lb boat.
