What I did was put ring terminals to the female ones of these connected to the battery. Ran it outside a compartment, connected the male one to a battery charger. I leave the charger in the boat and connect the cord when I return to the dock. Yes it can be done with no adverse effects. I've been using a Humminbird 998 for several years with a spliced cable and it reads the same as my Lowrance on the same boat. I used to be an electronic tech, now all I do is fish.

No electronics in my kayak because I'm fishing stuff I have to drag over between the holes. In the boat I always have at least one locator on and looking at it.

I have a couple of Tatula 100s and don't have any trouble with professional overrides. I've been using baitcasters since there weren't drags and the newer ones are much better than a Pflueger Akron.

I've caught 20 or so Alabama bass on a 3-4' ledge every cast many years ago. The most fish I remember in one spot are Calico bass in a kelp bed in Baja in the 80s. Bent the barbs down on jig hooks with Scampi Tails and jack poled. Had 7 gunny sacks full and the 7x12' floor of the boat 2 deep. Took a 120 quart ice chest home full of sacked filets for a company fish fry.

Mick, The rod is a Rainshadow walleye 6'2" Immortal xf m. I've built several of these and cut one to 5 1/2' for throwing under brush in small rivers/streams that I fish in my kayak.

In my kayak I carry one rod, 2 packs of worms and a pill bottle with hooks and weights in my PFD. A small ice chest with lunch and beer and 1/2 gallon of water.

I don't leave the dock without a finesse worm Texas rigged and usually 2, one with 1/16th oz and another with 1/8th oz. Caught bass from CA to MA mostly with one.

Drawer in the basement. Never over 65* there.

Bought a Diawa spinning Tatula 2000 xh and used it Monday with 6 lb mono and a custom finesse rod. It's by far the smoothest reel I've ever used. Caught 2 Alabama bass with it. Very happy.

It'll be good for another 23 years.

I have a '73 on a 14' glass boat. Great engine. It's not hard to reseal the lower unit if it's not been used in salt water.

My buddy has one we fish ponds with. Throw it in his truck with a trolling motor and battery and catch fish. He worm fishes while I throw a flyrod popper.

I use a Grumman Renegade 16' bass boat and the console rattles so hard the locator jumps off the dash. It planes in 12 mph so I just slow down and it's not bad.

I know in FL your out of state license is good for up to 6 months. I drag my boat there every winter for 3-5 months. The only thing I'm asked for is my FL fishing license.

I have several Shimano reels with plastic fillers that snap in.
