  1. I've always found the Humminbird techs are very good. I'd try again and get another tech.
  2. Where to buy. Need the large size. Thanks
  3. My fishing buddy uses one often and always catches fish with them. I feel they're best in rivers. Lately I've been using one quite a lot and have caught some good fish on one. In fact I caught my PB a couple of weeks ago on a white buzzbait with no trailer. My buddy always puts the largest size gold blade on his.
  4. I usually fish a double willow blade white or white and chartruse 1/2 oz bait. Any good quality bait is fine with me. If I'm using mono I retie often, it wears through the line. Mudfish will destroy a spinnerbait.
  5. I have been using the older version of this for a couple of years with no problems. Amazon for $58. Schumacher SC1303 6/12V Fully Automatic Battery Charger and 10A Maintainer
  6. 1/16 if the water is 12' or less and 1/8 if it's deeper and very little wind.
  7. My best one was a blue and chrome Sammy that I found hanging from a tree. I used it for 3 years and caught my PB spotted bass with it, 4-12. Finally lost it on a very windy day when the knot broke.
  8. Used to use nightcrawlers Texas rigged and got a pack of Smitty worms, Glendale, CA, when the night crawlers got too expensive. About 1980. They were hand pour brown black and orange for Lake Castaic, 4".
  9. Once or twice a month I keep a legal spotted bass for dinner that night. Other species of black bass all get released.
  10. Agree with a 5. I use an FG knot until I break the line on the water then I'll use a triple surgeons knot. I usually use either 15 or 20 braid and 12 or 20 lb fluorocarbon for my leader.
  11. You can get a complete kit with fitted components for $60 or so less if you choose an MHX blank instead of the Elite. I've found the MHX blanks just fine for my use. Don't buy the turnkey kit. Use a box and buy thread and thread finish separately. You can use hardware store/walmart epoxy to mount your handle and turn the rod by hand every 15-30 minutes to level the wrap finish. I made a dryer from a BBQ rotisserie motor over 40 years ago that I'm still using.
  12. Caught my first 1/2 along with many more. I cheat, I'm in FL.
  13. Quick way to tell is feel the tongue. LM are smooth, spotted bass have a rough patch. Yours are LM.
  14. According to the catalog the tip size is 6 and the butt is .560" diameter. Are you sure you want a xh blank for a jig rod?
  15. I was invited to Beaver Lake 13 years ago and caught a couple of bass my host called "mean mouth". He said they were spots and SM hybrids.
  16. I started kayaking to get to places I couldn't with my boat and haven't looked back. I fish small rivers and creeks all summer in N GA. Usually on weekends when the lakes are full of wake boats and such. Like others said look for used boats that new would be out of your price range.
  17. In years gone by I used to ride my 1960 BMW to the ocean with a rod or 2 strapped to it plus the tackle box. On the way home I usually had a gunny sack full of fish tied to it also. I also rode my Husky on the trails of the High Sierra with a fly rod bungeed to the handle bars to catch golden trout.
  18. Sandwich or tin of sardines and crackers, 1/2 apple, 6 cookies, 3 Budwisers and water. Have a box of Natures Valley granola bars in the boat for backup.
  19. I winter in FL and guys here call bass "ditch pickles", where did that come from?
  20. I tied mine to the rafter in my carport and lowered the jack.
  21. Lunker lure or Booyah, 3/8 or 1/2, what ever walmart has. White and I change the blade to the largest gold one. Trailer hook when I have one handy.
  22. When I lived in CA I caught hundreds of ocean fish, calico bass, bonito, Mackrel, barracuda, etc. on the Rebel Deep Diver both jointed or not. I have caught a few bass and stripers in Lake Lanier using them as a jerk bait and sometimes trolling.
  23. I'm with scaleface on the Leatherman diamond file. I'm on my third Leatherman because of a worn out file.
  24. Went fishing 4 days and did fairly well except for the day the wind blew me into a tree with a hornets nest. Only 2 stings but my arm is still twice the size. They were 4-0, 5-4 and 4-6.
