Shortening a Rod Blank
Second the Dremel. I just hold the blank in my hand and use light pressure with a cutoff wheel. It doesn't matter if it's not square.

Towing 101
I did the same thing a few weeks ago with it locked down and it bent the wheel holding tabs. With lots of heat and a BFH it works now.

How to: boat upkeep?
What engine, make, model, hp and year, do you have and are you using the auto lube function? For shifting the cables need adjustment or the idle speed needs to be reduced. Snap it in gear don't laze it in.

Basic info on A/M Inflatable Life Vests?
I've been wearing one for several years; in fact I'm on my second one. I disarm the automatic feature when I'm in my kayak. I've had it inflate under my console where I keep it and fell in the water in my kayak in 1 foot of water before I started disarming it.

Trolling motor?
Scott, He tried to get a foot pedal but they didn't make one for his motor, only a fob. I used to have a motor controlled trolling motor with a pedal and I could control it OK but the cable models are much easier for me to use.

Trolling motor?
Went out with a buddy last week and he has a Minnkota with a fob control only. It also has a spot lock feature. I thought that was the worst boat positioning motor out there. My boat has a foot controlled cable steered motor and it goes where I want it. My other boat has a front hand controlled motor. My question is why would anyone use a fob controlled motor for bass fishing?

Trailer project
Betcha it bounces a lot with that light boat. You might think about taking a leaf out of the springs.

Have you ever caught the biggest fish in the lake?
I haven't but my buddy has. We fish a pond that has lots of small bass and he caught one over 9 one year and a couple of years later he caught the same fish that was way over 10 in the same place.

Do you Southerners wade?
All summer I kayak and wade the rivers in GA. I'm in my late 70's and go alone some of the time. I am not afraid.

Best 4 Season locations for freshwater fishing?
I moved to N GA 20 years ago from S CA. While in CA I fished mostly in the ocean and some in Castaic, Piru and Cachuma for bass. The bass fishing here in GA is usually very good and the weather is OK for most people. In summer I fish the rivers in a kayak for bass and it's excellent with not much competition. I spend the winter in FL because it's too cold for me to fish in the winter.

I can't catch anything!
Your hook and nite crawler will catch bass and anything else in the lake. Texas rig it and crawl it slowly along the bottom. Use 6 or 8 lb monofilament line or leader and the lightest bullet weight you can, probably 1/16th oz. If everyone else is catching fish this should put you in the game also.

Milk crate for kayak
Like others have said a soft tackle bag will go almost anywhere and they come is different sizes and configurations.

Eating bass
I'll bring home a spotted bass 14-16" a couple of times a month for that evening's dinner. We think they taste better than crappie or catfish. If I catch a walleye I'll always keep it. The LM in Lake Lanier don't taste nearly as good as the spots.

Auto Inflatable Life Jackets
I've been using the Onix A/M for several years and have been satisfied. I disarm the auto function when I'm in my kayak. I'm on my second one.

Personal fishing bloopers
Had many but the last one was I was at our dock last year and my boat floated away. My dock mate's boat was there so I borrowed it to bring mine back.

IT CAN NOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH
When I kayak fished shallow rivers I never wore or even carried a PFD but after I turned 75 I now wear one. In my boat I wear an inflatable all the time and have for years.

Your fishing style
While my first bass was caught in the late '40s I didn't get really into it until about 1980. I mostly saltwater fished with some trout thrown in. A friend took me to a team tournament and we won and I caught the largest bass, 6 lbs. We were on Lake Castaic and he's the guy that taught Don Iovino to doodle. About 90% of the time I still use his finesse fishing techniques, Texas rigged worm dragged or doodled after I locate fish.

Reeling hand?
Like a lot of responses I do this. I learned to fish before spinning reels. I also reel with my right hand fly fishing. "Spinning left hand to reel and baitcasting right hand. Hold a spinning and cast a spinning rod right handed, cast a baitcasting rod right handed, switch to left hand to retreive lures. Tom"

Remember when: the old days
I remember before spinning reels when all there were were knuckle busting baitcasters. When spinning reels came to being I always wanted an Alcedo Micron.

FL is great
bigbassin', yes it's the Withlacoochee.

FL is great
Got down to FL before Christmas for the winter and have been fishing several times a week. The lakes, for me, have been very slow but the rivers are good. I'm around Inverness. #2.webp #3.webp

First fish new, to me, boat.
I haven't been on for a while so didn't see this post. I rebuilt the carburetors and the boat is fine. I fish the top end, Little River, mostly.

Very Frustrating
Maybe he went fishing.
