Son is going to Boundry Waters, What to take?
Yep, he's been warned about the bugs. All the boys are supposed to bring netting to sleep in. I'm also sending one of those tiny bottles of Tabasco for extra protection, lol. Bert

Son is going to Boundry Waters, What to take?
My son Chad is going to the Boy Scout's high adventure base at the Boundry Waters in Minnesota for a week long canoe trip next month. He can only take a small amount of tackle with him and I have no idea what kind of lures and stuff to get for him. Can anybody tell me what he needs for lures, line, etc.? Thanks, big

Texas Gulf Coast
I'm up in the Dallas area but fish the coast as often as possible. My bud has a boat at Surfside and we go offshore about once or twice a month. Weather has not been kind and the seas have bee rough so far this year though. big

*** 3rd Annual Roadtrip Video!!! ***
Only thing wrong with that video is that I'm not in it :'(. Looking forward to KY lake already. When can we start talking about it? KYBass, it's not imposing. It's meeting new friends, learning a little about our hobby, and having a good time. You'll be welcomed boat or not. I just have to figure out how to get both of mine up there, lol.

zara spook glossa?
These were a hard bait alternative to a Sluggo. Fish them with light jerks and long pauses like you would a Sluggo or it's newer version, the Senko. big

First Bass Boat...How do I drive this thing?
goose it a little when it sits down. You'll get used to this and won't even think about it after a while.

I finally discovered the blessing called "braid"!
If it's so great why don't the pro's use it full time?

Spot or not??
BTW, what's the record spot for that body of water?
-
Spot or not??
Around here the tournaments judge spot or not by the jaw. I thought tooth patch on the tongue was a good ID but they say it's not due to cross breeding. At any rate, really nice catch!!!

I finally discovered the blessing called "braid"!
IMO, a few of the downsides: not abrasion resistant, backlashes can be terminal, can damage the reel/break the rod trying to recover hung up lures, very visible in clear water, can cut fingers/hands, expensive. Braid, like most tackle, has it's place but may not always be the best choice. I like it for flipping heavy vegetation. It's also great for saltwater fishing where reel capacity is a concern. big

IMPO, this is just uncalled for :-(
Yep, like has been said it's pretty common around here. I find it distasteful as I do the heads of catfish hung from fence posts near farmers ponds.

Spot or not??
Well, broken lateral line and stripes on the belly would lead you to think spot. Hard to tell from the pic if the jaw exends past the eye to be sure.

New to Texas fishing
First, a big welcome to the forum and to Texas. You'll find lots of folks willing to help you out around here. Fishing is a little different down here than what you had up North. Catching bass that have plenty of forage can be a real chess match. Right now you are in luck though. The spawn is in full swing and the fish are shallow. If you look on a map a little North of you is Bridgeport lake. Head up to the Wise County park on the upper end of the lake and give it a try. Walk the bank and fish any logs or brush you can find in the water. I mean don't be shy, put your baits all over them! I'd take a single rod with 12-15 pound line and a couple jigs, senkos, and worms, or whatever in watermelon or pumpkin. Keep an eye out for snakes. Take your time and have some fun. big

Okay, so what about Toyota Tundra's ???
You do realize the Tundra is made in America (Texas) by an American Co. right? Anyway, the long wait for a new one will make it that much sweeter. I drove old 100k-200k mile trucks until I got my first new one in '02 and it was worth the wait! Good luck with your purchase. big

Okay, so what about Toyota Tundra's ???
Chris, it sounds like you've already sold yourself on the Toyota but I thought I'd throw this out there. For decades Ford, GM, and Dodge have fought for truck market share. How do you win over the competitors customer? By building the very best truck for the very best price that you can. What year after year, decade after decade of this has resulted in is a very high quality product from the big 3. I don't think the Toyota is a bad truck but I'm sure that the American trucks are as good if not better. They are worth a look and a test drive. BTW, I think I'll puke if I have to watch another Tundra ad on during my fishing shows.

Back from Lake Ray Roberts -TX
Great report!!! Sounds like you guys had a blast. I made it out to RR Saturday for about 4 hours. Got one @ 5-14 flipping shallow brush. Looks like it was a bad weekend for some. Careflight was at the ramp when I came in Saturday and then I heard there was a drowning Sunday. big

Skinny Bear Jigs?
My kid spotted these at the Classic Expo and we bought a few to try out. We've been wacking the heck out of the fish on the 3/8 oz. PB&J with a Paca Chunk trailer. Anybody else use them? big
