To prevent it you’d have to keep it in your garage. If you get some Bow to Stern, clean the boat well, put on a light coat, let it dry then wipe it off, put on a second coat, repeat, then put on a third coat you will be able to easily clean it when it gets dirty. I have it all over my boat and motor. All I do for cleaning is run a wet rag over it and dry it off.

A setup with a medium rod to me is for shaky or cranking. Finesse is when I pull out my ml Bronzeback and my Curado 70.

A keeper smallmouth where I fish is a nice fish. They have to be 15” long to be a keeper and the biologists say it takes 10 years for one to grow that big.

Like Ditch Panda stated, it depends on the size of the bait. I use hooks from #2 to 5/0 depending on the bait. I am assuming that you meant 3/0 and 4/0 when you were mentioning hook sizes.
