  1. It appears not many have your setup. Is this type of fishing new to you or are you just concerned about the setup?
  2. My Humminbird one boat network has two pucks. The one in the front is the sensor for the trolling motor and is essential for spot lock jog. Since I have 3 Humminbird units that can mark waypoints the one in the back controls the gps position when I mark one so they are all marked the same pertaining to the boats location.
  3. That would be RMP Russell Marine Products in El Dorado KS. Nice folks.
  4. Hey you said winter project. It’s still fall even though cold enough to be winter.🤪
  5. Trolling motors are notorious for causing interference with sonar units. So the best case scenario is a separate battery.
  6. Some friends of mine go to Canada smallmouth fishing every year. They always use light spinning tackle with 6# line and catch them up to 6#. They use a lot of tubes and flukes. The last time that I made them baits they wanted 100 white flukes.
  7. Have you googled how to wire a sonar unit in a boat?
  8. My thoughts on the original post is that I have used braid to all kind and weights of leader. I have used fluorocarbon line from 6-20#. I have always had a love/ hate relationship with braid. It is leaning more toward hate so I have changed most all of my spinning and casting setups to straight fluorocarbon 8# for my Ned, shaky, and 3/16 oz jigs.
  9. I used to pull a 13000 # 5th wheeler. We traveled from S Texas to Canada spending as much as 100 nights per year in campgrounds. The cardinal rule for tires on that kind of rig is “don’t ever start the 7th year without new tires no matter what the old ones look like”. That is the same philosophy that I use on all of my tires and it works.
  10. Bazoo check your pm.
  11. Google you tube installing a sonar on a boat should get you what you need.
  12. You are right. I overlooked it. I will check it tomorrow.
  13. I’ve only had one part fail on a Shimano spinning reel and some date back to 2001.
  14. We’ve been above normal until the last couple of days. I have near new tires on my trailer and they were checked and rotated in September. My wife’s car sent her a message telling her to put air in its tires. While I was at it I checked the boat trailer. The tires on the starboard side were 5# low and the port side were 8# low. Now they are all at specs.
  15. That’s why I got into making baits a very long time ago.
  16. I like red/chartreuse (bleeding shiner) spinner baits in dirty water. I’ve never used straight red.
  17. I like the ones that Jewell has for their Pee Wee jigs. I make a jig similar to theirs and sometimes I use their skirts. I like the bass whacker, hail Mary, and first down. https://jewelbait.com/shop/details/pee-wee-series/pee-wee-skirts My version of bass whacker
  18. I get free firewood (son-in-law and grandson cut it on my farm) so I use wood heat as my primary source December through March. When one beeps they all get new batteries.
  19. I am a fan of War Eagle spinner baits. I use a willow/ Colorado combination or a double willow. Here are my choices and when I use them: Firecracker….clear water with sunshine Golden shiner…..cloudy days Bleeding shiner…..off colored water White…..any time Chartreuse….any time
  20. Well they sent the left instead of the right side retrieve. So I sent them back.
  21. Well I think I went over budget yesterday with the purchase of 2 Shimano Curados.
  22. I have definitely not simplified it with equipment and tackle. I have a Humminbird one boat network that is linked to my cordless Minn Kota Ulterra trolling motor which I can deploy, run, and stow from anywhere in the boat. I have added several rods and reels to my arsenal including 2 Curados which I bought yesterday that will be delivered today. I have however, simplified my use of baits. Primarily I use TRDs for Ned rigs, Zinkerzs for shaky, Keitech swing impact fat swim baits and a plethora of jigs that I make myself.
  23. I got an email from them listing all kinds of things. I really didn’t have anything in mind but when I came across casting reels I saw Curado BFS for $179 instead of $235. The bait monkey crawled up on my lap and I ordered 2 of them. Now I just have to figure out what to do with them when they get here tomorrow.
  24. Elaztech will warp regular boxes. Flambeau makes boxes that are impervious to Elaztech.
