  1. I don’t do mine the same as cadman does. I hardly ever have mine under the heat gun for more than 10 seconds. I just want mine hot enough to give me a dull powder coat that will be thin and have no runs or drips when baked. I don’t sell jigs so I only bake mine at 350° for 10-12 minutes. The paint rarely is gone before the jig goes to Davy Jones locker.
  2. More detail will help us like how you heat the jig, fluid bed or jar, your method of baking, etc. Are your paints stored the same? I’m wondering if there could be some moisture in the green paint.
  3. I drag it with it ticking the bottom, I hop it with rod lifts and swims, I also swim it. I rig it with a variety of hook shapes sizes and weights.
  4. Too many things to to address here so I will take the Ned rig. I can only speak for my area of the country. The Ned rig can be used all year long but it really shines in the post spawn to summer. It also becomes a very good bait from early fall into at least mid winter.
  5. Most of the time I am using light line with m to ml rods. I have to set the hook hard to break through the plastic that is Tex skinned, not so much when jig fishing.
  6. All that I have done for the last 4 trips is clean the sonar screens, use Hot Sauce on the motor and run a wet rag over the cap because of all the stuff that we get on it while fishing. Here is a pic of the side that I just took.
  7. I used Bass Boat Saver for quite a while. The problem was that it had to be used every trip. I put Bow To Stern on maybe once every two months. Lots of times I don’t even have to do anything to the boat.
  8. I have been fishing Arigs for 20 years and never broke a wire but the ones I use are homemade. My harnesses came from a company called Battlefield Wire which was bought out by lpo. I have one with no blades or hooks on it that I can send to you and you can set it up the way you want and give it a try. Let me know.
  9. Depending on the depth of snow it is supposed to be low 30$ by Wednesday. I won’t take a chance on pulling the boat as I once had to get a wrecker to pull my truck and boat out of a ravine because I couldn’t make it up an icy hill. We took a ride through the trees and luckily I only lost a tail light. So if we don’t get a bunch of snow I am thinking I might get some fish from the bank at Hawker campground. We will see.
  10. I’ve never had to use it. Back when I had a 225 Optimax with 3 sonar unit draws I had to use it often. It worked every time.
  11. It is a sealant that can be used any where. I use it on the dash of my vehicles for uv protectant.
  12. I’ve been using it on the motor. I keep bow to stern on the boat so most of the time just wipe with a wet cloth where water lines show.
  13. My sensor puck flashes red. We must have different generations.
  14. I don’t have one. I have a battery switch so if my cranking battery dies I can flip the switch and use another battery.
  15. Yesterday I had 3 setups rigged Ned: Gloomis bronzeback 6’11” custom with Curado bfs, 8# fluorocarbon and 1/16 oz open hook TRD; Ark rod 7’6” with Curado bfs, 8# fluorocarbon and 5/32 oz Midwest finesse weedless TRD; and 7’1” custom acid wrap rod with Curado 70, 8# fluorocarbon and 1/8 oz Midwest finesse weedless TRD. I had a green pumpkin TRD on each setup. The wind and water depth determined which weight I needed to use in order to get the bait down where it could tick the bottom. This is a Midwest finesse jig with a specialty Victory hook.
  16. We arrived at 9:39 to west wind of about 10 mph. The air was 37° and the water was 42°. We went to our old standby spot. It is about 1/2 mile of rocks and ledges. I got 5 on the Ned and my neighbor got 3. We headed up lake and started hitting our rocky areas. Most of them only gave up a lmb or 2. As the day progressed the wind increased as usual and we had 2-3 foot rollers slamming us the rest of the day. I managed to catch 8 more fish. Of my 13 9 were lmb and 4 were smb. I wound up with 6 keepers to 4#. I will take that for a windy January day. I only caught fish on the Ned.
  17. It is 30° out and supposed to get to mid 40s with wind below 20 mph. The next 2-3 weeks are supposed to be cold with ice and snow so I am on my way to Stockton for a while.
  18. Trout fishing on laky Taneycomo it was -5°. It took 30 minutes to get the motor started. The steering was frozen so we piled paper from the trash can in the splash well and burned it to thaw the steering. After a 6 mile boat ride I deployed the trolling motor and it was frozen. It turned out to be a very cold skunk day.
  19. Flambeau boxes are what I store Elaztech baits in. They don’t melt if you keep regular plastics away from them.
  20. I agree with you guys on color. My main smallmouth baits are jigs, ZinkerZs, and TDRs. I don’t even know how many colors of each that I have.
  21. Is the material rotten or just torn? If just torn a good upholstery shop should be able to fix it. My Dowco was made to fit my Nitro dual console with a Motor Guide trolling motor. When I bought a Minn Kota it had to be remodeled to fit. Then I added a Shuttle Slide mount and it had to changed again.
  22. You might shiver, shake and gag but within 5 minutes the cramp is gone. The idea here it to divert your brain away from the cramp senses to the mustard.
  23. I’ve had 2 custom covers. The first one was from Aurora Canvass in Battlefield MO. It was still good after 14 years of setting out on the boat in campgrounds as many as 100 days per year. It made several trips to S TX and MS. The one that I have now came with the boat and was made by Dowco. It is 10 years and old has no leaks.
  24. Mustard for cramps is no joke. It absolutely works. I get cramps often so I keep it in the boat and truck. I first read about this in an article about some orthopedic surgeons who were avid kayak enthusiasts. One of them got cramps and nearly died. They decided to research it and came up with yellow mustard being the best for cramps.
  25. Mine came with them. They are there so I use them.
