Kvd line conditioner

Featured Replies

So on my last order I got a 4 ounce bottle of the stuff. I like to fish 15 pound big game mono. We all know the stuff ends up like a slinky lol. I also got a new rod. It’s a tad heavy to cast light lures like I like but doable. I spooled fresh big game. And casted and dialed the reel in. Played with it in the yard. Decided to give the line a good soaking and let it dry overnight. I’m genuinely shocked how well big game casts and the memory was drastically reduced. I’m sold on the stuff I think.

Yup, love it. I have used it religiously for years on Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Trilene. Noticible difference. I've read comments from some people that they feel it weakens the line but I have not experienced that. Yo-Zuri Hybrid is incredibly reliable for me and the KVD Line and Lure makes it a joy to use.

If it ain't braid - it gets the KVD treatment.

I've been spraying every reel the night before a trip for years. It makes a surprising difference.

I have both the KVD L&L, and The Professor Braid Aid and always give any reel spooled woth fluoro a spray the night before a trip. Both work well for making the line more manageable (especially if it's been unused for a while), but I find the Braid Aid lasts longer while fishing.

Reel magic works just as well. I also tie off to something solid and run out a long cast worth of line and stretch it good. That’ll do the same thing. Been fishing big game for 26 years

I carry it in the boat right next to my hot foot so I can see it and not have to hunt it. I used it a lot when I was using Yozuri hybrid line. With straight fluorocarbon I don’t need it often.

See I didn’t care for reel magic. I like it for cleaning stuff though. I always tie off to the fence and walk back and wind the line up tight also lol. Never talked to anyone else that does that lol I have for years and years

Haha that’s funny. Some people think stretching it weakens it but I haven’t found that at all. These days I’m fishing mostly braid but still do it with 25lb big game on my big bait rods

I do love braid. But I love 15 pound big game as well. I fished straight braid when I lived in Florida. It’s hard to get out of that habit in the Midwest

KVD line conditioner is great and it will last you all season. I have the bigger bottle and I think I’m going on 3 years with it.

For baitcasters, if I use any fluorocarbon other than invizx, I try to spray it on before each use.

For spinning, ALL mono/flouro gets sprayed every time. This is a must for spinning in my opinion and why I choose braid for almost all spinning setups.

I sprayed my copoly line reels at the end of the season and the line pulls out smooth today. I’ll spray again on the first outing night before I go.

It works

Yes it does work. I use it on all my Big Game, Yo-Zuri Hybrid and any mono type line. I use so much of it, I buy it by the gallon. Good Stuff

i used to use big game until I discovered Sufix Siege. its as strong as big game but is 1000x more limp, you can use it fine without line conditioner on both baitcasting and spinning gear.

the downside is that is way more expensive than Big Game.

Reel Magic contains petroleum distillates that slightly degrade the line softening it. It’s also not the best environmentally. KVD is a copolymer that coats and binds to the line. Fluoro is not as elastic as mono. That’s why it weakens when stretched. That’s not to say it will positively break during use though.

I never use any of that stuff. I simply use lighter line.

"6lb" mono is a lot stronger than people think and performs way better than 17lb line. Obviously heavier line as its place in bass fishing, and I'm not suggesting light line for every application, but often times the situations that call for heavy line don't require as much casting performance.

So does KVD degrade fluoro or mono the same way reel magic does? Also, is KVD bad for the environment like reel magic?
