  1. The owner may only be looking for something close to market value while the dealership has jacked up the price to make more money for themselves. Normally, the consignment game is played where the boat owner decides the minimum he will take for the boat plus pay a fee (usually a few hundred dollars) to the dealer. The dealer is then free to ask anything he chooses for the boat and pockets the fee plus all above the agreed on price with the owner.
  2. This takes a little extrapolation so bear with me. The 04 unit is listed by NADA with a 50 hp and average retail is $7,340. When you look up a 50 it is valued at $2,400. A 75 is $3,190 so it is worth $790 more than the 50. Add the $790 to the $7,340 and you have an average retail value of $8,130 which seems to me to be about $3,455 over priced. That takes into consideration standard electronics, trolling motor and batteries. This unit would have to be a real cherry to interest me as over priced as it is.
  3. That sounds to me like overkill on the tires. Do you have a heavy boat with 2 or 3 axles? As far as tire pressure goes my tire guy says to always keep them at the rated pressure anything less does not let the sidewalls stand up as they were designed to.
  4. I like skillet take mine off the top right out of the box. I stick my line out the flap, close the flap and use the friction of the spool turning inside the box to keep the line tight. The main culprit in line twist is the reel itself and the quality of its roller bearing.
  5. I make my molds out of BONDO. PM GMAN, I am pretty sure he has made some plaster molds.
  6. My wife's uncle built a 7 acre lake. He stocked it but refused to allow any cover to be put in because he wanted to be able to swim and dive without obstruction and he mowed all around it so he wouldn't even fall a tree in the water. It never has been any good unless one wants to catch blue gill. There has only ever been 1 decent fish caught from it in over 30 years.
  7. My favorite spinnerbait trailer is a very sharp 4/0 hook.
  8. Since I don't know about your tow vehicle, I will just tell you what I do. I fish a lot by my self. I launch a 21' boat. I have a reel with 140 of line on it. I back the boat into the water and if there is a courtesy dock I tie it off and float the boat. If there is no courtesy dock I float it off and let out about 1/2 of the line. I unreel the rest of the line up the ramp. That gives me time to park the truck before the boat can float away or onto the ramp. When I load the boat, I drive it on to the trailer. Depending on the depth of the ramp, I can usually step out of the boat onto the ramp and drive it away. On shallow ramps I carry a pair of knee high rubber boots in the boat. When necessary, I put them on and slip over the bow and walk to the truck and drive out.
  9. My experiences with Fireline are what caused me to stumble onto Power Pro a few years ago.

Depends on the time of the year and the depth of the water. Sometimes a spinnerbait or buzz bait fished parallel. At other times a crankbait fished parallel. Last but not least, a jig or tube dropped from one level to the next.
  11. You might try www.ztackle.com. Either John or Rick can be dealt with depending on the size of your order. You will need to phone them for any price breaks.
  12. I suggest you put a little more with that $50 and get a Shimano Symmetry. It has a true ball bearing in the roller assembly and keeps that line from twisting like it does with cheaper reels.
  13. That is a no win situation. Unfortunately, it happens all too often.
  14. If it were mine, I wouldn't want the hassel of draining the lube each time. If you fish very much, your oil would cost more than a fix in a short time. I would take it to a repair shop and have the problem fixed right and be done with it.
  15. My worn out knees have forced me to sit most of the day. I can only stand for a couple of hours at a time. I have learned to hold the rods differently when sitting to get a good hook set. I still think I miss more seated but the other alternative is to watch tv. ;D

If you had popped a few caps in their direction, they might have had a different outlook on life. ;D
  17. totally *** backwards. fill from the bottom. Really..... yea did not read the post IF YOU DONT HAVE A PUMP. all the top hole is to vent while you pump from the bottom and to show it full after the oil drains out. But being the pro you are i am sure you knew that too. So in other words there is more way to skin a cat. Think before you post back some rude commit because if you dont you just my get schooled on how to turn some wrenches. I never claimed to be a wrench turner. I was a sales manager for a marine dealership and wrench turners worked for me. However, I have seen and done many many lower unit lube changes. I have done them with and without a pump. It is somewhat easier with the $7 pump.
  18. For non electric I prefer the wood handled Rapala. Mine is over 20 years old. However, my favorite kinfe is a cordless electric which I got for Christmas 3 years ago. It is about as good as the Rapala and a whole lot faster.

I don't think I have ever had the two the same color except for black/black. My rubber is not the same color of any trailers I can buy. Here are a couple of my favorites.
  20. That may be true but it has to have some hardware which is not present.
  21. I had some of that with Fireline. I got rid of it and went to Power Pro. I have it on 6 reels and have had very few problems.
  22. We threw spinnerbaits, worms, jigs and tubes today. We caught 1 smallmouth on a jig/beaver and 17 on tubes. We were using 4" tubes with 1/8 and 1/4 oz heads. The tube color didn't matter.
  23. It takes around a 20% profit to keep a dealership's doors open. The best time to buy a boat is in the dog days of summer. Customers are scarce then and boat deals are easier. Never buy one close to boat show time. The best deals can be made on NEW NONCURRENT units. They have been setting around while the interest payments keep on rolling. Many of them can be purchased at or below cost. When dealing for the boat it is good to keep an option you want secret; like a depthfinder or trolling motor upgrade. When the deal is as good as you can get it, spring the option on them as a deal breaker. If it is not outrageous, you will probably get it thrown in.
  24. Champion, Bass Cat, or Ranger in that order
