Rigging tube baits
Yes sir that is a good idea alright. I have some small brass tubing that I bought at a hardware store a while back. I used a 5" piece and it worked just fine. It is a lot simpler than my way for sure.

Rigging tube baits
I cut a slit in the under side, slip the hook inside the tube, poke a hole in the upperside, reach in and get the weed guard with hemostats and pull it and the hook eye through the hole. If I am preparing them ahead of time at home, I then superglue the slit closed. If I am on the water I just leave it open. If I have time this pm when I get back from Bass Pro Shop, I will try to post some pics.

Trolling Motor Abnormally Slow?
I have an 82# tmotor and barely go 3mph. Are you having trolling motor races?

2 seperate questions? points and mats!
Secondary points are the ones inside big coves or bays which are not on the main lake.

line twist?
Prevention, none that I know of. I get the same thing when swim fishing light weight tubes and wacky rigged dropshot worms. After a couple of trips, I tie the line to a ball bearing swivel, hook it on the fence and head down the street. When the line is unwound from the spool I crank it in as I walk back to the swivel, letting the line come through tightly gripped thumb and fore finger. I have tried letting it come through the water behind the boat and it wasn't nearly as good as the little walk.

Potentially Catastrophic: boat owners!!!!!
I'll believe it when I see it. There is too much boating money in too many states for this to happen. Even if it does, won't it lessen the fishing pressure.

will BPS inspect a reel before they ship
I don't think there is a big Shimano problem. I live close to the main BPS store. They have their outlet next door where they get rid of all kinds of stuff. They take returned reels fix them up and sell them by the thousands. I have not bought any of them but I look at them every week or so when I am in the store. I have been checking them out for several years and have only seen 2 Shimano reels. There are hundreds of house brand, Pfleuger and Quantums every day.

Shimano reel and rod size?
I like the 2500 size reel but I use both the M and MH rods depending on the baits.

Diffrence between asking price and selling price
Situations vary from dealer to dealer and deal to deal. Some boat mfgs. are set up to give the dealer more room to operate than others. Dealerships need to make around 20% profit overall to keep the doors open. If done properly, the used boat should have been traded for at close to NADA wholesale. The asking price will be above NADA retail plus any repairs done by the dealership to get it sale ready. All dealerships want to turn boats quickly. However, some of them buy dogs that just won't hunt (called new noncurrents) and hang around the lots for years eating up the profits because of high interest floor plans. Boat dealerships are similar to car dealerships in that lots of people are getting a piece of the profit pie. They also get year end unit kickbacks from boat and motor mfgs. Mid year unit incentives are provided by mfgs. to get their inventory down, etc. How much they will come down depends on how much they have in the unit and how long it has been on the lot. Sometimes they have to bite the bullet and sell boats below cost just the make them go away. You did not mention if the Triton is a new noncurrent or used. I assume it is used since it will soon be 8 years old. The selling price will depend on if it is a consignment boat or dealer owned boat. There is usually more room to operate in dealer owned units. If I were interested in it, I would ask for a copy of the shop inspection sheet to see what was done and why. Then I would make a cash offer of $12,000 contingent on a good lake demonstration and see how they react. You might be surprised. You should also keep a deal breaker handy.

Summer Night Fishing
I like craw jigs and tube jigs.

will BPS inspect a reel before they ship
Absolutely NOT. This is not a mom and pop operation. The do like a gazillion dollars worth of business. They have many many many tractor trailer loads of stuff going out every day. They have 100 people answering the phone. There is too much to do to check out stuff that mfgs should have checked out. This little company ships out hundreds of millions of dollars worth of stuff every year. In the home store alone they do over 1/2 billion dollars worth of stuff from the 3 million or so visitors. If you want it checked out, you will have to do it yourself.

Could use some advise please
We all have our methods of how to approach new water. Mine is to fish points first. I like to start deep and work to shallow water. My reasoning is two fold: I don't want the fish which may be away from the bank to be aware of my boat by starting shallow first and I catch bigger fish in and around deep water. If I don't get deep bites then I move to the shallows and start searching.

very confused ( yet another scale question )
That is exactly the experiences that I had. I went through 3 Berkley and 2 Rapala digitals before I broke down and bought the Boga.

Another depth finder question
Not only do I turn my depth finder on before I start the motor. It is the last thing I turn off. I also run a couple of gps units. I'd 'bout as soon be without my pants as be without a depth finder. I fish lakes from 25,000-50,000 (Table Rock included) acres though.
-
no fish finder no fish
In my first 3 boats I did not have a depth finder. What I did was use a bait that I could fish from the bank to the boat (plastic worm and jig). I would work an entire area noting the water depth by guessing how long it took the bait to reach the bottom. By repetition, I figured out some spots that produced.

G. Loomis question
I don't know what else you are looking at. I have an MBR844C and use it for jigs 1/2 oz and above, spinnerbaits above 3/8 oz, heavy top waters and 1/2 oz buzz baits. For the lighter stuff I use 843C rods and down.
-
Fenwick
I don't have that particular rod but do have some HMGs. I bought them several years ago and really like most of them. I have heard some stories about Fenwick quality going down since they were bought out by Berkley.

Shimano Sahara + Braided Line = Backlash ??
I have 2 Saharas on my FnF rods. They have been loaded with 8/1 Power Pro for 4 years with no problems what so ever. I also have Power Pro on some Symmetrys and Stradics. The Saharas work as well as they do with that line. Maybe the problem is your line or the way you have it installed.

Tow Vehicle
Your owner's manual should have a section which gives you tips on how much and how to haul loads. I have a freind who used a 6 cly Ford for many years pulling an 18' Ranger with no problems.

Never seen this before...
I had a smallmouth take a beaver off a jig last week. On the next cast my partner caught it and got my beaver back.

need legal info debate
I have 12 ponds and was thinking about stocking them. I had a conservation biologist come and take a look. He told me that in order to keep a balance I would need to harvest 21 bass per acre of water each season and never ever throw a perch back.

Speaking of weighing fish...
Boga is one of the very few scales which can be certified. I bought mine at Bass Pro for $120.
-
Speaking of weighing fish...
I know what you mean. I have never been able to get one of them to weigh a fish the same weight no matter how many times I weigh it. I 86d mine and got a Boga.
