It sounds like you have the bases covered. I am not sure I'd buy the battery from Sam's unless I was sure it was a true deep cycle. I'd also nix the radio because I wouldn't want the distraction.

I'd get some type of treatment and treat the whole area around the boat to get rid of the source. For those in the boat you can buy those little houses they crawl into or you can get some Home Defense and spray where they crawl.

I'd take it back. My bet is they will replace it. BPS is the best I have ever seen for customer satisfaction.

It is a personal preference thing. I only take my seats out when my wife is pulling the boat with her jeep. She needs them out to be able to see behind her. Otherwise they are in all the time.

Like stated it depends on the weight of the bait. I use a variety but mostly 843C 1/2 oz and under and 844C 1/2 oz and over. Either one can handle the 1/2 oz depending on how big the trailer is.

Since he called, we will be in his boat. I like to travel as light as possible and still have the essentials. I always ask "Where will we be launching? What do you have in mind for the early part of the trip? What baits do you plan to throw for starters? Will I need to have my XYZ baits or do you not plan to do that type of fishing?" Once I have a little knowledge, I know how to rig a few rods. For example, if he plans to start out with buzzbaits, I'd be hard pressed to use heavy jigs or trigs. On the other hand, if he plans to fish bluffs in 30+ fow I don't want a bunch of spinnerbaits or buzz baits tied on.

This morning I decided to see if a sharp point would work better. I cut off a nail and drove it into the tube. It works great.

I have had them on the transom but hope I never have to again. I have 3 on the inside and 1 on the tmotor. They are not hard to install. All you have to do is grind out a place until you get good glass and glue it down. You can even set them to an angle if you want. One of mine I have angled forward and starboard so that it shows a perfect pic in 25fow exactly where the steering wheel is located. It works well for vertical jigging.

I don't think that they are as good as the older models. They are owned by the same guy who owns Kenner, Tracker, Fisher, and Nitro. Normally, it seems that quality goes down when he takes over. I haven't ridden in any of the newer ones but I have heard that they are slow. MY opinion.

I keep mine in Plano boxes but it takes 3 of them and I don't use any plastic bags.

Yes sir that is a good idea alright. I have some small brass tubing that I bought at a hardware store a while back. I used a 5" piece and it worked just fine. It is a lot simpler than my way for sure.

I cut a slit in the under side, slip the hook inside the tube, poke a hole in the upperside, reach in and get the weed guard with hemostats and pull it and the hook eye through the hole. If I am preparing them ahead of time at home, I then superglue the slit closed. If I am on the water I just leave it open. If I have time this pm when I get back from Bass Pro Shop, I will try to post some pics.

I have an 82# tmotor and barely go 3mph. Are you having trolling motor races?

Secondary points are the ones inside big coves or bays which are not on the main lake.

Prevention, none that I know of. I get the same thing when swim fishing light weight tubes and wacky rigged dropshot worms. After a couple of trips, I tie the line to a ball bearing swivel, hook it on the fence and head down the street. When the line is unwound from the spool I crank it in as I walk back to the swivel, letting the line come through tightly gripped thumb and fore finger. I have tried letting it come through the water behind the boat and it wasn't nearly as good as the little walk.

I'll believe it when I see it. There is too much boating money in too many states for this to happen. Even if it does, won't it lessen the fishing pressure.

I don't think there is a big Shimano problem. I live close to the main BPS store. They have their outlet next door where they get rid of all kinds of stuff. They take returned reels fix them up and sell them by the thousands. I have not bought any of them but I look at them every week or so when I am in the store. I have been checking them out for several years and have only seen 2 Shimano reels. There are hundreds of house brand, Pfleuger and Quantums every day.

I like the 2500 size reel but I use both the M and MH rods depending on the baits.

Situations vary from dealer to dealer and deal to deal. Some boat mfgs. are set up to give the dealer more room to operate than others. Dealerships need to make around 20% profit overall to keep the doors open. If done properly, the used boat should have been traded for at close to NADA wholesale. The asking price will be above NADA retail plus any repairs done by the dealership to get it sale ready. All dealerships want to turn boats quickly. However, some of them buy dogs that just won't hunt (called new noncurrents) and hang around the lots for years eating up the profits because of high interest floor plans. Boat dealerships are similar to car dealerships in that lots of people are getting a piece of the profit pie. They also get year end unit kickbacks from boat and motor mfgs. Mid year unit incentives are provided by mfgs. to get their inventory down, etc. How much they will come down depends on how much they have in the unit and how long it has been on the lot. Sometimes they have to bite the bullet and sell boats below cost just the make them go away. You did not mention if the Triton is a new noncurrent or used. I assume it is used since it will soon be 8 years old. The selling price will depend on if it is a consignment boat or dealer owned boat. There is usually more room to operate in dealer owned units. If I were interested in it, I would ask for a copy of the shop inspection sheet to see what was done and why. Then I would make a cash offer of $12,000 contingent on a good lake demonstration and see how they react. You might be surprised. You should also keep a deal breaker handy.

Absolutely NOT. This is not a mom and pop operation. The do like a gazillion dollars worth of business. They have many many many tractor trailer loads of stuff going out every day. They have 100 people answering the phone. There is too much to do to check out stuff that mfgs should have checked out. This little company ships out hundreds of millions of dollars worth of stuff every year. In the home store alone they do over 1/2 billion dollars worth of stuff from the 3 million or so visitors. If you want it checked out, you will have to do it yourself.
