Very Interesting Article
I have found many semkos in stocked trout. Each time they are completely stuck and there was no hope of the fish passing it.

KastKing Does it again...
If you ordered one - check your emails. I just got the following email: Dear Friends of KastKing, Thank you again for your support for our new KastKing Speed Elite campaign on Indiegogo. As there wasn’t the option for you to choose the retrieve and gear ratio when you placed the order, We emailed you several days before without receiving your reply. So please REPLY to our email which one would you like, we will mark on your order and ship the correct one to you in future. Below is the option for you: Option A: Right handed--10.5:1 Gear Ratio Option B: Left handed--10.5:1 Gear Ratio Option C: Right handed--8.6:1 Gear Ratio Option D: Left handed--8.6:1 Gear Ratio (Right handed reels means you reel in with your right hand and hold the rod with your left hand; Left handed reels means you reel in with your left hand and hold the rod with your right hand) By the way, We’ve been hard at work running through every level of the manufacturing process to make sure everything is in order. Recently the first sample was finished and we are in the testing stage now. We don't want to let you down with any production delays. The expected shipping time is still the end of March, 2020. We will keep you posted on the most recent news as it becomes available. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us at indiegogo@kastking.com. We would like to wish all of you Happy Holidays! Thank you KastKing

Anyone use both L-R handed casting reels ?
I reel exclusively with my right hand. Baitcasters, spinning reels...all right handed.

Cold water speed cranking
I have been wondering when they say "cold", how cold are they talking? Most of the places they fish probably don't hit 30 degree temps or ice up. Also, I am disappointed they are OOS. When they get new lures they should limit the amount sold to each customer so everyone has a chance to get 1 or 2. I watched the video and it wasn't available yet, by the time I looked they were gone...

Unusual preference in a spinnerbait rod?
This past summer I was using a medium power rod with moderate action at night for bladed jigs and had about a 80% hookup rate. For some reason I went with a MH power rod with fast action. My hookup ratio dropped way down. In fact I missed 10 fish in a row. I chalked it up to the fish being finicky that night because I changed out baits and trailers to see if that was the issue. Went out another night with the same setup and missed a few more fish. The next time I went out i went back to the Medium power rod and went 5 for 5 landing them. Its drastically changed my view on the rod setup for bladed jigs. I think I am too quick on the hookset and yank it out of their mouth...with a medium power rod the fish have time to inhale it. To sum it up, I think it really depends on how you fish it and the individual.

Poor Rod Packaging
I have never had a rod come to me in the mail broken- I have ordered 12 rods online in the past few years too. I have had them come in triangular boxes, cardboard tubes and only 1 in a box. I think 6 have come off Amazon without any problems. Everyone I have ordered from seems to know what they are doing because the rods are usually suspended in the tube with some bubble pack. Some have come UPS and some USPS. If they come by way of USPS I have to go pick them up.

Come On Man !!!
C'mon man don't offer 60 different reels - focus on a few and give us all the different gear ratios. Looking at you Daiwa and your growing lineup. C'mon man, it's great I now have a 25:1 gear ratio reel to reel in a spinnerbait in two turns of the handle but we could actually use some reels that have lower gear ratios for cold weather and crankbaits.

Black Friday Order Possiblely Stolen
It is possible the rod is at your local post office. This always happens to me on rods and other large packages- I have to pick them up at the post office because they often cant deliver them. It never shows up on the delivery screen until a few days later for some reason that I need to go pick it up - but I learned my lesson after the first one. The USPS isn't equipped like fedex or ups to deliver packages.

What are some good low profile reels under $140 for swimbaits
I have only had that happen once and I am pretty sure it was because I was trying to bomb an inline spinner as hard as I could throw. With bigger baits you don't cast very hard so I have never had that problem. They work great and I put about 100 hours on the 2 of them this year.

Baitcast Reel Maintenance
It really isn't hard to service your reels but make sure you have the proper tools. They don't have to be expensive tools but make sure they are the proper size. All you need is small set of screwdrivers, small wrenches, offset tweezers, pick, q-tips and brushes(old toothbrush and pipe cleaners). After that you need a cleaning solution(alcohol or acetone), reel grease and reel oil. Sometimes you need a pin or needle to get the bearing covers off but usually the small pick works well for me. It's amazing how cleaning and oiling bearings can make them hum. I have discovered a few bad bearings while cleaning my reels but those are easy to order and replace.

Missing the warmer fishing months...
As a youngster we used to go to Chataqua lake in the winter and hammer crappie through the ice. It was always a lot of fun. Caught the occasional bass and muskie on tip ups.

Casting
With a baitcaster I am a solid 8. My weakness is casting to my right. Everything from my left up to 20 degrees to my right I will always hit my mark, no matter the style if cast. As I go farther right...my confidence wanes. With a spinning reel I am a solid 2. Everything about spinning reels makes me angry. I cant tell you how many times I have a big ball of snarly line fall off the spool...I rip it off pull the lure back in and grab another rod.
