  1. I am in the market for a new Tatula Spinning reel. I usually use 2500 reels for spinning applications no matter the technique when it comes to bass fishing. I use 1000 size for trout and panfish and larger ones for catfish. This will mainly be used for finesse techniques and will be paired on Tatula Elite Series ML rod I got brand new for a steal($100). There isn't a huge difference between a tatula 2000 and 2500 size reel but the IPT is a few inches less on the 2000. The weight doesn't really matter to me. Is there a noticiable difference in size in your hand? Which would you prefer? Thanks
  2. I use my coastal reel for large swimbaits.
  3. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Okeechobee-Fats-Fishing-Bait-Binder/42887350 I bought a couple of these. They were only 5 bucks when I got them.
  4. If you want a clever idea...wear them as earrings.
  5. I cast all my finesse stuff for bass on Medium rods. I have a few ml rods but they are reserved for trout fishing.
  6. When I think of Senkos the last word I associate with them is inefficient. They catch fish - if that's inefficient than I have been doing this whole fishing thing wrong.
  7. If you want the big ones, go big. Throw large huddlestons or other swimbaits and glidebaits way out in front.
  8. Top left looks like an old creek chub.
  9. Maybe similar to wax - put down some paper towels lay the hoodie on top of that and then heat it up with an iron.. .
  10. I have way more tackle than I need... I like Zakos for chatterbait trailers. Their weight and design is better than any other I have found.
  11. I used a 7'2" medium power fast for quite a while but didnt necessarily like that I had the rod so bent when retrieving the chatterbait. I then switched to a 7'2" MH fast action rod and the retrieve was nicer but my hookup ratio dropped. Went back to the medium power and my hookup ratio improved. I was using a braid to fluoro leader in both circumstances.
  12. I have seen some bullheads like this caught out of large farm ponds...those big bullheads can put up a good fight! Nice catch State Records in Pa are hard to confirm anyway and its guaranteed you have to kill it to get it to a weigh station. There are a bunch of pickerel that have beaten the state record caught in the Poconos but were never confirmed...
  13. It actually is a Rapala jerkbait but I had to use a different VMC hook to get it to suspend correctly.
  14. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/daiwa-tatula-ctbass-pro-shops-pro-qualifier-2-baitcast-rod-and-reel-combo?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductextensions&affcode_c=&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8svsBRDqARIsAHKVyqF-YRiiMe1QKoL2HxsRxLc65vCn5frFl4iGgyGb0xGuUPkURYwig8IaApZjEALw_wcB You want this guy. I would go 7', 7.3:1 gear ratio and medium power for a beginner.
  15. There used to be a lot of Muskie rods like that but the days of short rods are long gone. What use do you have for a Heavy rod that short? It's basically a pole cue.
  16. I think so. I have snagged some small fish but this is my smallest yet.
  17. It honestly depends a lot on the water you are fishing and their forage. It never bothered me much fishing waters in western pa but here in eastern pa the smell about gags me and seems to stick on my hands and gear forever.
  18. No matter how well I organize or store my baits after a few hours of fishing it looks like a disaster with hooks tangled on each other.
  19. A lot of times the biggest drawback of cheap baits is hooks and o rings. So buy good hooks and o rings in bulk of all the different sizes and replace them on these cheaper baits.
  20. Chatterbaits to me are far superior at night. I get less misses than I do with a spinnerbait at night.
  21. This. If it comes to it I use my forceps for this.
  22. If the world is ending I am going noodling, but not the fishing kind.
  23. I think the shrooms work great when using the zman plastics. I haven't caught any huge fish but I have caught over 400 and have never had one break - if they are breaking you are probably using too heavy line, don't have your drag set properly and are muscling them. This is a finesse technique... If I am using non-elaztec though i go to owner blockheads or some local ones that have a better keeper on them.
  24. A lot of times this activity can be everything but bass...trout, bluegill, etc. If it is bass you need to match what they are chasing as close in size and color as you can...and a lot of times if they are busting on baitfish you need to work your bait faster than you may think. As stated above a fluke can be great - I think a donkey rig(dual rig fluke) fished weightless is great.
  25. Please use a fish grabber if you don't have a net. You are going to cut yourself on the teeth or the gill rakers and at some point get a hook in your hand.
