  1. 3 to 5 feet, no deeper than that.
  2. So I plan on throwing paddle tails this year for the fall after having some success burning them in grass over the summer. I personally used a weighted swimbait hook weedless but I was recommended by a friend to try out underspins.. do you guys have any luck on them? what would be a good size weighted hook with one to throw around some 3.8 keitechs with? Do underspins have any advantages to swimbait fishing?
  3. don't the seasons still affect them though? what lures would you recommend for that pond if the fish are lure shy? do the bass still follow that seasonal fall pattern?
  4. no clue, I fish in ponds and mostly shallow lakes (average depth 6 to 8 ft) and it can be hit or miss this time of year, I struggled a lot until early November then it kinda picked up again. then by December died completely, right now the bite has been slow for me. hoping it picks up again though, definitely prepared this year though compared to last year.
  5. Here in Jersey I don't think the pleasure boats are ever gonna go away lol, my home lake gets lowered every year so people can repair docks but I feel like that's not gonna stop em lol
  6. Do they hang out directly under the fountain? Or do they hang out where the fountain water splashes?
  7. 1. Senko = Finesse 2. Plastic creature bait = Texas rig 3. Chatterbait = Reaction bait 4. Topwater popper = duh you know... 5. Jerkbait = winter time 6. Finesse Jig = when all else fails.
  8. Bite has been brutal for the past two weeks now. Don't know if it's the moon phases or the early transition that's in effect, hopefully time will tell. Here's one I got after 2 hours of nothing.
  9. This thread is very relatable right now. Past couple coutings the bite has been horrible, always managed to get at least 1 fish though compared to my 3 to 5 limit at my ponds during the mid summer.
  10. This was during the spring few years ago. More bushes grew on that right side now though which makes accessing it a bit hard. Didn't catch my first bass outta there until early may. What would you recommend throwing in there right now?
  11. So recently at my pond I fish I've noticed the bass are scattered and pretty much not staying in one specific spot and it's making the fishing tough, is this part of the fall transition? what should I do in this situation? Cover water quickly or try to locate the bass with slower baits? Reminder that this is a public park pond with a fountain in the middle and little cover. Max depth is 5ft except for a small channel on the other side which is 8ft.
  12. The late summer dinkfest has finally kicked in!
  13. Yeah I gotta get a restock of my spinnerbait collection I love the war eagle finesse spinnerbaits!
  14. Not even lake turnover? What baits would you recommend then to start throwing as it gets colder out? Stick with the summer arsenal or start throwing different baits?
  15. Well when does fall start for the ponds then? October?
  16. So this morning it was very chilly out here in New Jersey. For me it was a sign that the fall transition is here for us, unfortunately though this time of year I struggle with it, I don't have lakes or reservoirs with creek channels and shad that the bass feed on, I have a few ponds with little cover and a fountain or two in the middle and a plentiful population of bluegill and maybe shiners, how do I fish these bodies of water without shad during this transition period and what presentations should I throw? Same as the summer or start throwing different baits?
  17. To the gulf anglers on here be safe guys for real, watched the press conference today on Fox News about the storm surge possibly being high as a two story building, if you have the chance to evacuate from that area please do. It could save your life. We suffered tremendously during Hurricane Sandy up here. Didn't have power for 7 days and had to deal with flooding... Storm is supposed to make landfall tonight right?
  18. 119 bass have been logged for me since the start of the year, I second that! 2020 has been great for me!!
  19. Beer.. then the trip becomes enjoyable again. All seriousness this is an interesting topic for me because I only have a two 1/2 hour window to fish at my ponds during the week. I either arrive 8/10 times during a bite window that ends shorty after I start fishing or a bite window that begins 30 minutes before I leave. It's rare for me to fish during a full bite window that begins when I start and continues until I leave. In the time between though I'm usually junk fishing and having a run and gun approach, 30 minutes on a moving bait in a spot nothing bites = slowing down for another 30 minutes, if I don't get anything doing that I switch spots and stick to the slow down approach until I get bit.
  20. This happens more on weightless T rigs I noticed more than wacky rigs. Maybe because I fish T rigs more? Idk but the gill tactic seems to work for me, unfortunately I've had incident where bass would swallow the hook and start to bleed, working on them long like that isn't worth it if they're losing blood at a fast rate. It's better to just send them back with the hook in those cases, hopefully it rusts out.
  21. Exactly, it's a pain to replace quality stuff that costs more money, I don't have the financial luxury to buy jackhammers and whopper ploppers or even tungsten everytime they break off.
  22. I'm ready for fall if the fish are willing to cooperate this year, from mid September to mid october I would either get skunked or get 1 fish per outing, finally I started having multiple fish days in early November and then it all shut down in December. That first period I mentioned was during a brutal indian summer.
  23. It's not worth losing expensive gear to the unknown bottom contour/snags when you can just use the cheaper stuff you might have laying around as canon fodder to know what's where and where not to throw, once I figure that stuff out i switch back to my better baits.
  24. Glenn really does a great job making videos for us, learned a lot from him over the past year!
