  1. I wondered about the heat and could it cause damage to my rods so I called St. Croix and they said no. For you bowhunters out there heat IS bad for your bows though.
  2. I occasionally enjoy a nice stogie after fishing too!
  3. Here in N. IL. the cottonwood tree seeds are really starting to be a pain in the tail. Are they an issue all over? I fish braid so perhaps that is worse that mono but trying to clean it off your line stinks.
  4. The striped bass/white bass are really starting to bite well here in N. IL. The only problem is getting the cottonwood trees seeds caught in your line and constantly having to remove them.
  5. I'm like many others. I enjoy fishing alone just for the peace and to clear my head. However, if I'm musky fishing I really enjoy/need a partner!
  6. I'm with @FishTank. The 6'8" MXF is a very versatile rod.
  7. They are excellent eating but when they get big I release them hoping they can spread their genetics. I'm more of a catch and release guy anyway.
  8. I know it's not a bass but this almost 14" crappie was a PR. It was flopping around so it was hard to get an accurate measure. I think if I has a board it would have been an honest14" but I was happy anyway.
  9. Always been happy with my SC LE's.
  10. I fish mainly in IL and WI. With the exception of musky fishing, the majority of people I see fishing are all using spinning reels.
  11. Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm still on the fence about the purchase at this point.
  12. @slonezp, I planned on putting it on a pike rod with 80# PP.
  13. @J Francho, ok thanks for the information!
  14. @J Francho, any model you would recommend?
  15. Have any of you used the Garmin Striker Cast or Deeper Start fish Finder? Lately I've been doing a lot of bank fishing and was wondering if one of these would be helpful or just another gimic.
  16. After a flue shot my Dad got GBS and had to learn how to walk and use his hands again. He never regained the dexterity to use a spinning rell so I bought him a Zebco Omega Pro several years ago and he really liked it.
  17. I bought a LNIB Daiwa 2500 Fuego LT for $ 50.00 at a local pawn store. Thought that was a decent buy.
  18. Hard to beat the regular Stradic. I have and use the Fuego but have had line lay issues with it from day one. Yes they include washers but why do they continue to make a product they know to be defective. I do not think that I should spend $ 100.00 and then have to fix it. Not trying to start a war just disappointed in Daiwa.
  19. @E-H, I think you will be very pleased with that rod. I have the same rod in the Legend X spinning rod series. It is one of my favorite "all around" rods. Let us know how you like it after you use it. Best Wishes, Randy Price
  20. @E-H, I used it primarily for SMB. I'm a SC fanboy so that's all I use. I like and use the 6'8" MXF Mojo Bass "Wacky Style" and really like it better than the Premier. The MB has the SCIII graphite like the Avid instead of the SCII like the Premier so it's much more sensitive. The only plus to me about the Premier is that it is made in WI instead of Mexico like the MB series. If you can swing the money the MB is a great rod for the $$. PM me if you have any specific questions.
  21. @E-H, Yes I bought one several years ago and was very pleased with it. My understanding is that the only way to get the split grip Premier is through Cabela's/BPS. Sold it to a friend a couple of years ago when I was thinning the herd. I really liked it though.
  22. I was at Cabela's in WI a few years ago looking at SC LTB rods and found one mismarked for $ 19.99. I got all excited and thought it was my lucky day BUT I'm a big believer in Karma and I knew I really couldn't live with myself if I kept it so I alerted one of their staff.
