  1. The pinion bearing is often what gets blamed for geary feeling. https://japantackle.com/tackle_topics/maintain_fix_reels.htm When you feel gear noise, and fine vibration in retrieving: First, fix 2 ball bearings at the end of spool shaft. Then if the reel is equipped with an SF spool, check the bearing at pinion gear. It is indicated in red. It is covered by a thin metal plate. This bearing is easy to suffer water damage because of its position, and then it makes noise and fine vibration like gear noise. If it makes some noise or vibration when you put it on a pen and spin it with light thrust, please replace it with new one. This bearing should be lubricated with grease because it receives large thrust from pinion gear. If you still have vibration, then open the body and check the pinion gear, if you are capable to reassemble.
  2. Oil in the AR bearing ... unless its a BB1 which has the multi-stop AR ... in that case its normal and supposed to help you feel the crankbait bite better
  3. Agreed. Only for Senkos i go EWG and offset shank for Trick Worms.
  4. Dont drag fish out of water. Once theyre tired out, just lip them. Its a catfish get your whole hand in there if you want and pull that thing out of the water! Unless youre fishing heavy gear dont try to lift the fish out of the water with your rod. And even if you're fishing heavy gear, don't try to lift the fish by reeling! Rods are for moving fish, reels are for picking up line.
  5. Thats the problem. Most of us want to just get straight to great not realizing that before these pros were great they were poor fishermen, then average, then above average, and finally great. There's no secret recipe They just put less 'buts" after it when they said "I want to be a professional fisherman". The rest of us add "buts" such as "but I can't afford it, but it takes too much time, but I'm not good enough".
  6. ^ but ill add to that that he likely only mentions what hes sponsored by. Its very possible other takle/lures were used but due to contractual agreements, they are not mentioned.
  7. In my experience, on the I's it hasnt been a gear issue but rather the pinion support bearing. Once that is properly cleaned and lubed theyre right back to smooth. Can't speak for the SLX however ...
  8. Who knows but https://www.sierra.com/ also carries seconds. Keep in mind no warranties exist with these rods.
  9. They aren't trying to scam people out of money from what I've seen. These are attempts to install spyware or such on computers/devices or identity theft or something else altogether. Several people on my local Craiglist have stated that a person reached out to them asking them to click a link for "Google verification".
  10. Maybe I wouldn't go as extreme as saying not to buy anything fishing at all, but try to not taking immediate return to work as a given. No one knows how long the effects of the pandemic will last. With that said, I would suggest the combo below. Purchase all of them for the lowest used price (theyll still contain the same text). Again, I'm not trying to preach or pass judgement. All I know is the time I spent on unemployment 5 years ago was one of the most difficult times of my life and these books helped me get started on a new career path. The world around us is changing and I anticipate things will only get more competitive after COVID-19 is gone. Best of luck!
  11. Recently lots of scammers have been targetting Craigslist and more specifically the boat section. Scam posts will include the following: 1. A "too good to be true amount" typically close to the $1200 stimulus everyone received 2. A small or poor quality picture 3. Little to no description 4. An email address directly in the body of the ad Below is an example of one as well as the pictures showing the craigslist post and the actual post. Safe and happy shopping to all!
  12. Yeah im still trying to decide whether i should go with this or a jon boat. It seems weird to me that when i was looking for a 2 man everyone talked about the poor stability of jon boats. You happy with your purchase or would you go with something else?
  13. Do you think it would be possible to try to add flooring over part of it?
  14. I think its a BPS thing to be honest. Their website lets me add the more expensive Pelican 120 without any issues. I tried contacting customer support with no luck finding a workaround.
  15. Not in Texas it ain't
  16. Thanks for the response. Im looking for a decent boat for smaller electric only waters. I had considered a 2 man but unless i can get an 8 footer for around $500, I feel my money is better spent elsewhere.
  17. Anyone have any experience with the Lowe V1258 boat? https://www.loweboats.com/utility-boats/v1258/ At 130 lbs, would a trolling motor move this boat ok? or would it be a nightmare getting around?
  18. All the opposite from what I've seen. My DSG order actually got cancelled
  19. Havent used that line but the Ethos rods are incredible for their pricepoint.
  20. Just picked up a Sun Dolphin Sportsman 8. With the company going out of business and the Bass Raider 8 being discontinued I figured this was my last shot at an 8 footer in this type of boat. Just found this thread and looking forward to reading all ... 123 PAGES?!!?!?!?!?
  21. Id say 2 blocks is definitely a good start. But if youre just getting used to them, perhaps set the external dial higher.
  22. Ive done ship to store. Ships in a tube like anywhere else. Worked well, rod was fine.
  23. Seaguar Tatsu Shooter Defier Daiwa Samurai
  24. Im sure it is and you likely have more time on the water with it than I. My opinion is also based solely on spinning applications with it.
