  1. For swimbaits 3oz and under what would be better suited Tatula 200 (new model) or Carfiff 300A?
  2. My only suggestion would be to buy quality swimbaits. Although I myself am just getting into swimbaits more seriously, I can tell you that swimbaits seem to be one lure where you definitely get what you pay for and it doesn't make sense to cheap out. Also if by swimbaits you are referring to larger 1oz + swimbaits then I'd advise against using braid.
  3. I would go with 20 lb suffix 832 or good ol 8lb Yo Zuri Hybrid
  4. Hi all, in the market for a budget small swimbait rod to be used mainly for treble hook lures but also for some smaller jig style hook lures. Will likely be pairing with a Cardiff 300a and 20lb YZH Any suggestions for a rod? I tried searching the forum and the consensus seems to be Okuma Guide Selects and Irod Genesis rods but trying to see what else is being used/recommended.
  5. Id normally agree with unscrewing but ...
  6. If you like Lews theres nothing wrong with that. I have been very pleased fishing my Lews Carbon Fire i bought based upon recommendation from board members here. I have the heavy model for frog fishing and its a dream to cast. Only complaint would be the reel seat but its not anything i cant live with. Anyhow to answer your question about best sub $150 rod it really depends on what youre doing with it but for the price Dobyns Fury
  7. Bc you want to buy rods from a rod company not a marketing machine
  8. Lews customer service is definitely first-rate so I'm sure theyd do whatever possible to make it right
  9. Whats your timeframe? I believe Lews Customer Service is closed due to COVID 19
  10. "This handle is a direct fit on the new Curado 70, no additional parts required! " or are you asking us if we think it looks cool?
  11. Soak bearing in Brake Claner, MAF Cleaner, Acetone or whatever solvent you can find. If that doesnt free up the bearing, you may have to replace. Bearings might be hard to come by (not sure who all is still open) so if you can't find someone, PM me with the size and I may be able to send one out to you free of charge if I have one lying around.
  12. Is there a big jump from a Curado 200k to either of these?
  13. I had this happen to me on a couple of Chinese-made Lew's LFSs. Gave up on Lew's after that.
  14. Yeah i'll try to stay around 20lb. Its my first venture into swimbaits
  15. Yeah looking for something for smaller swimbaits up to about 2oz. I'd imagine a 200/300 size would work best.
  16. My understanding is theres a difference between Magforce and a regular magnetic brake such as that on Daiwa's CG80 and such I guess i mean Magforce Z
  17. I bank fish small waters as well and use Yo Zuri Hybrid almost exclusively. 6 lb YZH - drop shot, weightless trick worms 8 lb YZH - light plastics, in line spinnerbaits 10 lb YZH - cranks, squarebills 12 lb YZH - Jigs, texas rigs, tubes, lipless 15 lb YZH - Spinnerbaits, larger lipless, topwater 40 lb 832 - Carolina rig, frogs, flipping
  18. What are you throwing/how will you be fishing/what rods. Too many variables.
  19. Is Daiwa purposefully trying to blur the lines between braking systems? While looking into larger baitcasters for swimbaits, I noticed that some reels like the Tatula 200 (which I assume has Magforce Z braking) do not mention Magforce Z in the features: others, like the Lexa HD do show it and yet others like the Lexa Winn, which have a different brake dial entirely dont mention it either Its odd to me that these reels which aren't their bottom of the barrell models don't mention what braking systems are being used. Is there a way to tell definintely what braking system they are using?
  20. Cals on gears is my flavor of the month. Although im sticking to yamalube for spinning reels still ...
  21. Agreed ... time to get out those singles STRIP! STRIP! STRIP! then spool it on tightly
  22. Pair it with the right rod and line and you can cast them out there. Med/Mod rod 7' or longer and youll be fine. Since you're using braid, line diameter won't be a concern.
  23. If you are referring to the spool bearings, I do believe they are sealed. I was also unable to find a clip or other means of opening them. If youre throwing them in an ultrasonic, it probably is overkill and you should do fine leaving the seals on. Youll be happy to find these Daiwa bearings benefit greatly from cleaning!
  24. Its likely still good. I have a 12 year old Bill Dance BPS reel which is bottom of the barrel that i still fish and maintain bc of sentimental value
