  1. That looks to be the issue. Haven't gotten back on water but we'll find out tomorrow for sure. Thanks!
  2. Use what you have and invest in a book and lures In-Fisherman - Largemouth Bass Robert Montgomery - Better Bass Fishing Ultimate Bass Fishing Library - Advanced Bass Fishing Skills: Best Lures, Techniques and Presentations
  3. I have a Citica I that recently began fishing more but I have noticed that the reel gets a little more difficult to turn as the bait comes closer to the reel. I would say the last about 5-10 feet is where some resistance is felt. Its not major and I can still keep reeling it just bugs me. The line is not getting tangles on the guides. This issue is present regardless of the bait but cannot be replicated without a bait. The rod it is on is an H2O express ethos rod and the line is 12lb YZH. Any input would be appreciated as I am stumped as to what it could be.
  4. About 1-4 types of baits If i can find the bite then its time to experiment with colors. At the end of an average day 6-8 baits. I do however carry a lot more out with me because while it may be 6-8 baits i don't necessarily know WHICH 6-8.
  5. Same pink worm except on a split shot. Hard to beat at ponds in my area.
  6. Ive heard this from several people but wound up buying some that look identical on amazon at about $15/100pc. Have worked great so far!
  7. I currently don't but after hearing how effective they are fished weightless on drop shots i think ill be tying some up soon.
  8. Could just be spooled on backwards. Unfortunately fluoro doesn't seem to be affected by KVD Line & Lure too much. Id cut leader and retie.
  9. Thats one of those Daiwa's that isn't really a Daiwa. I'd suggest looking for a Fuego (Amazon has one used like new for under $70). And picking up a budget rod until you can upgrade. With that combo youre compromising on both the reel and rod.
  10. Whopper Plopper = the new Banjo Minnow
  11. add to this Berkley Lightning Rod (medium/moderate) for light cranks Pfluger President spinning reels Amazon bobber stoppers that are like 1000/$16 KVD Line and Lure (although it would be a good deal at twice the price) Mend it ... if you havent tried this you really need to! The heavy carbon fire has been nothing short of perfect for throwing frogs
  12. I guess i personally base finesse on the weight of the bait. Weightless senko can be cast well with regular baitcasting gear so not finesse in my book. For me, finesse would be trick worm and lighter ... Then again i dont even consider finesse jigs finesse unless they are hair jigs and not your standard rubber jigs
  13. Carry the reels in a backpack and bike chain the rods to the child safety seat hook (wherever it is on your car). I'd also suggest putting a boot on the car so they dont just tow the entire car to get to the rods. ... and please stop fishing the Detroit ghettos
  14. Ive had similar experiences with the geary feeling. Daiwas also respond much better to bearing cleaning Recently cleaned my Fuegos as well as a Shimano Citica I and Curado K. Made a world of difference on the Fuegos. Different story on the Shimanos. While I'm sure I'll gain some distance, it definitely made them much harder to dial in for me. But this is an SLX thread and at $130 ill probably still try to scoop up a combo soon
  15. All of mine had bushings which were replaced with bearings. IMO this is a worthwhile upgrade on budget spinning reels. As far as cleaning goes, disassembly as outlined above and standard bearing cleaning with a drop of oil does the trick. Definitely take it apart though and at a minimum clean any parts the bearing/bushing makes contact with.
  16. Good to know. I have the hedgehog tool and even with the threads lubricated it seems to bind a bit
  17. Where did you get your spool removal tool? The threads on mine will strip far before any damage to the spool pin or shaft.
  18. What are the rods in question?
  19. Is this a mf cranking rod? Or cranking rod to you? IMO mf + braid = heartbreak Id go to a true moderate with mh
  20. Not only this but it also seems its designed for a greasy reel. When i first picked up my Citica I, i couldnt figure out what everyone was griping about. It casted fine. Then i cleaned the bearings. It opened up the reel but made it a pain to dial it in. For a while i settled on keeping the infinity or whatever its called on 6 and only changing the spool tension and brake blocks. That worked until i got more comfortable with the reel.
  21. YZH ... its super forgiving and with line&lure its very managable
  22. Not sure if i drank the koolaid? ... Big Game is all i use ... for backing but thats about all i use it for
  23. Not really any rubbing it shouldnt be moving around ...
  24. This is 2014 those dont exist yet
