SLX vs Fuego CT for Frogging
Thats what I picked up. Still waiting to get the rod for it but I'll get a chance to break the reel in this weekend.

SLX vs Fuego CT for Frogging
I thought only the SLX DC had micromodule gearing?

Bait Caster Frustration
Ive had this happen on lower end Daiwas (Fuegos) where the issue was if the cast control knob was left too loose, the spool lip would actually come into contact with the frame. If your cast control knob is super loose, try tightening it up just a smidge to see if it fixes it.

Reel tuning/maintenance
I had an old Pinnacle that I decided to "supertune" after reading a book called BASS where they mentioned you should fill the case with toothpaste, remove levelwind, and use a drill to spin it. I honestly have to say it made a huge difference in smoothness. Im sure it wasnt the best idea and I sure as heck wouldn't do it again but that reel did get smoother.

Reel tuning/maintenance
Im sure DVT will come to the rescue. But have you tried pinpointing the source of the noise? I would try removing parts to determine where it is coming from exactly.

SLX vs Fuego CT for Frogging
Is that a Dicks exclusive?

SLX vs Fuego CT for Frogging
Might be a stupid question but I haven't used braid in a long time. How do those guides hold up? Is guide grooving with braid no longer a concern or does 4 vs 8 carrier make a difference?

SLX vs Fuego CT for Frogging
*BUMP* So now that I have the reel, what rod would you recommend on a budget? Obviously with my reel options, I'm trying to go cheap so I'd prefer cheaper alternatives to the typical Dobyns Fury recommendations.

Spool hi-speed Shimano Full Tune curado 201i
Your 201i bearings are better than whats in the kit. Junky also doesn't necessarily mean bearings so make sure to test bearings to confirm they need replacing.

Budget Crank bait/ Chatterbait rod
I hear this iteration is crap. The regular lightning rod (not shock) are pretty darn good but I've heard nothing but horror stories about the orange rods. Lots of reports of cracking plastic.

Budget Crank bait/ Chatterbait rod
Med/Mod Lightning Rod although I'm not sure I would use the same rod for those two presentations. You probably want a faster tip for chatterbaits.

Berkley lightning rod
For the price you really cant go wrong. If youre buying in store look through a few and pick the prettiest one. Some of the ones on the rack looked sloppier than others when i got mine

Berkley lightning rod
I have the 7ft med/mod and its a great rod for smaller crankbaits. Its slightly underpowered for a medium IMO but I can still get away with fishing small redeyes and 1.5s. I have mine paired with a fuego 5 speed in winter/prespawn and a fuego 6 speed the rest of the year.

Bass Pro Spring Classic Sale
Can vouch this is definitely the best way to do it! A couple of years ago i just turned in a bunch of rods and they allowed me to use the discount on reels too

Ned Jig Head Knot ?
This is an excellent and easy to tie knot. Especially useful for braid.

Bass Pro Spring Classic Sale
I just want to trade in a reel!!! Curado K's seem to be holding their value too well ...

BPS Spring Classic 2020
Anyone heard anything about it? Are they still doing it? I feel like in prior years it was announced well ahead of time. **Disregard just found the post***

Curado 70 Replacement
I wish I could get out more but I mainly fish a small pond. Its fed by a spring so theres pretty much action year round. MLK weekend was a good one for me. Temps were in the 30s but the fish were biting. Caught a couple of 3lbers and a handful of keeper sized bass.

Line for Texas Rigs and Jigs
I never could get on board with the P-Line. Used it for a while and it performed fine but once i went Yo Zuri i never looked back. I will say though the newer spools arent quite the same as the older formulation. It may be something else but Ive noticed the older spools that I have are colored (smoke, green, pink) and perform much better IMO than the clear stuff I buy off amazon.
