If 2lb heavier line would have kept a fish from snapping your line, your drag is way too tight.

You might lose lures due to the 2lb difference. If you lose fish the problem isnt a 2 lb difference.

No experience with BPS Crankn Sticks but my M/M Berkley Lightning Rod has done well with those baits. That said, if I was to do it again, I'd give strong consideration to the Lews Carbon Fire Rod. I wonder if the price of the rod had anything to do with it? As a customer you gain a lot of leverage with a $300 purchase. If only Megabass would sell me a rod for say $50 I could test this theory ... ?

Can't complain about Yo Zuri Hybrid as a leader. Then again Im a firm believer its the best bang for your buck line around.

Did you lose the whole guide or just the insert? I can see how they would not accept the whole guide under warranty or be willing to just send out a replacement.

I'd go 6 speed. But then again i prefer a slower reel as I tend to speed up my reeling once i connect with some fish. I wouldn't underspool. In my mind it would affect casting distance ... it very well may not but I would be wondering if it does on every cast.

Thats my point exactly. This budget reel manages to be smoother on display than say a Tatula. In operation it sure isnt smoother nor will it stay smooth longer. But what makes it smoother out the box?

Why is it that no reel feels smoother than a store display model Abu Black Max??? Maybe its only the case at the Academy I frequent but the display models feel unbelievably smooth to the point its made me wonder if changes are made to the display models to make them crank smoother.
