  1. Picked up a Fuego XS for $60 yesterday off Amazon. $70 today. Prices do fluctuate but with some patience you can still snag a great deal.
  2. If youre referring to braid lb test, heavier lb test sometimes is just easier to manage on baitcasting gear
  3. Spool on some Yo Zuri Hybrid and call it a day
  4. 8.1 Fuego purchased ... at $65 I'd say its a solid deal
  5. Does heavier fluorocarbon transmit vibration better than thinner line? I wonder how big an impact line diameter has in its ability to transmit vibration.
  6. You don't have any 5.5:1 fuegos? ?
  7. Wow ... Thanks to all of you for the insight. Everything seemed to tell me that the SLX and Fuego were basically equals but this thread has really shed some light on things. Maybe its time to ****** up some Fuegos while theyre still available.
  8. What sets these apart?
  9. Did the gears strip? What exactly happened? I havent heard of issues with SLX so I'm curious what to look out for.
  10. Aside from a fast reel, anything else to look for/consider?
  11. Looking to set up a combo to throw into the thicker stuff. Which reel would be better suited for frogging/pitching/flipping? All input appreciated.
  12. Are the ones youve used a hedgehog bearing? Or what is your source for these?
  13. Who makes your flouro? You said Flourocoated ... does that mean its a copoly? What kind of rod are you using? A moderate rod should be more forgiving of a hard hookset.
  14. LUCKY CRAFT Squarebill Crank LC 1.5 Special Kit (Pack of 5 Colors) https://www.amazon.com/LUCKY-CRAFT-Special-Pack-Colors/dp/B082DQST55/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=lucky+craft+lc+1.5&qid=1580098842&sr=8-1

  16. Shimanos x-ship is a real game changer here. If I was in the market for a new spinning reel I'd definitely try to get my hands on a reel with it.
  17. Link for the rod wants to take me to Facebook ... FYI
  18. My medium-moderate gets used for inline spinners and smaller suspending cranks
  19. Lews really has top notch customer service. I once emailed about where I could purchase an extra spool. Had one sent to me free of charge as well.
  20. I had a buddy who decided to add a shim to a gear on a spinning reel. It made it much smoother and increased free spin like crazy. He fished it for a bit but as soon as he hooked into a good fish those gears were toast. Unless you can out-engineer an engineer dont try it.
  21. Are you lubing the threads on the hedgehog tool? Thats a common source of failure on them. So long as the tool is centered and the threads lubed it shouldnt have much of an issue unless pins are bent or corroded.
  22. Reporting back! Much cooler morning 37 as opposed to 63 when i first posted. Anyhow fewer bites as expected but I managed to hook both of the fish that struck. Im sure you northern people are pshh'ing at this right now but 2 keepers for a 37 degree Texas morning ain't too shabby. Thanks to all! Advice was extremely helpful!
  23. Invest in some literature while youre at it. May not be as exciting as fishing equipment but a good book on fishing is a great way to make the sport more enjoyable, especially for younger anglers.
