  1. I've looked at these as an intro to segmented hard swim baits. If you throw it will you report back on how it does?
  2. That's what the package said so I went with black on my UL. It has 2lb mono and the black stays in place. So i never even tried the yellow and red but good to know if I ever decide I want to try and peg a t rig.
  3. Wow. Just wow. Haha. I bought the multi pack at BPS for my UL because I use a slip bobber on it. Its supposed to be for different line diameters but I would be hard pressed to notice any difference in them besides the color. But they were cheap, not as cheap as Darren ^ above me but not bad.
  4. I must have missed this last year. Sorry!! Ive had ok luck at the Pier 51 marina area of keystone from the bank. All pretty small to average size. I almost broke my ankle on a wet rock so it scared me away but I need to beat the bank there again. There is a creek mouth that ive watched shad run up that I want to walk all the way to the back of and check out.
  5. Ive not fished all of it but im familiar with the whole area. I have family in Fayetteville and am just across the border in Oklahoma. West of fayetville into oklahoma you have Grand Lake, which is the best of the best in Oklahoma. Also Hudson, Eucha, and Tenkiller arent bad drives. Plus the White River in Arkansas is amazing trout fishing.
  6. Ive been pondering things like this lately. Let's take the actual lure out of the equation and say for both rigs its a craw. I can fish them the exact same way so what advantage does a shakey head with a craw rigged weedless have over a craw on an EWG with a bullet weight? I don't really know. One the hook and weight are all in one. The other the hook and weight are separate. Do they look different under water? Do they react different when given a small hop? Do they perform different when you just drag it? Again I don't really know. So I tend to stick with the T rig because of confidence and all my spinning rods are used for other things and I don't feel the need to tie on a shakey head when I can fish the exact same plastic on a T Rig.
  7. I got really into crappie fishing a few years ago and bought a 9' L jigging rod and I use my UL for them too but I didnt fish for crappie a single time in 2021 because I got hooked on the bait monkey train and was constantly experimenting with new lures for bass. I think this year I'll go crappie fishing a few times.
  8. I can count on one hand how many times my dad ever took me fishing. When I was in the Army I fished some with some buddies in my unit and we bank fished for catfish at night and drank beer. That's about all I fished until about 5 years ago when my wife was my girlfriend and she fished. Well since then I got into bass fishing and have been told multiple times that I am obsessed. I'm fine with that haha. Its true so might as well embrace it!
  9. I fished a small pond that was like this a few weeks ago. I had the time so I said I dont care if I catch anything I'm still going. I played with casting it on the ice and dragging it and let it fall barely off the edge of the ice, straight down. I should have used a weightless plastic but was using a finesse jig that I already had a baby rage craw on so probably too much action but I figured it would get their attention. Either way it was fun, except losing a brand new blade bait I had bought an hour before, within 10 casts haha.
  10. I'll throw a pink Barbie lure if it gets bit. There isn't a single thing I won't throw, but there are things I have ZERO to very little confidence in that I would substitute something else for.
  11. Has anyone ever used a ball head crappie jig with a longer shank hook? I have some Lazer Sharp one that have the V bend hook and ive thought about using these with the 3.3 Rage Swimmer.
  12. If I'm throwing it around the bank and around cover wacky weightless. But if I'm wanting to go out into the water more with it I use a weighted wacky jig. Either 1/32 or 1/8 oz. I mainly bank fish ponds but if I want to chuck it towards the deepest spots in the middle I'm using a weighted wacky jig head.
  13. I dont have all of those species where I live so it cuts it down quite a bit. So I would go with: Lipless - caught many species on these 3" Gulp minnow on a drop shot - caught bluegill, crappie, and bass on these. Thats all I have in most waters 1" gulp minnow on a 1/64oz Panfish Magnet jighead. I've caught the smallest sunfish up to a 2.5lb bass and everything in between with these.
  14. Its so true. I stopped throwing the texas rig last year to experiment with new techniques and my catches went down. So I am sticking to what i know and working at building that confidence back up.
  15. Yesterday I put new flourocarbon on my t rig rod and tied on my first tungsten bullet weight so it's going to get used alot. I bought a t rig setup because it works and I am not leaving home without it this year.
  16. Ok I can sed that about the jerk baits. Two or three trebles is better if they bump or swipe at it than a hook inside of plastic. But would a fluke not trigger them to bite the same as a hard jerkbait? Just terrible hook up ratio? Im really trying to get out of the "only throw this lure in this season" or " such and such only works during the spawn or spring or fall" Plus I still dont understand how dragging a senko on a shakey head is any different than dragging a senko on a t rig. It's a stick bait!! Why switch hooks and jig head if I can do the same thing with a weedless t rig?
  17. I got thinking when people talk about winter bass fishing a few techniques get talked about alot. Alot of times its jigs, jerkbait, drop shot, etc... So it got me thinking, instead of slowly dragging a jig why not drag a texas rig? Smaller package and more weedless but still has that soft plastic that you are using as a trailer, excluding chunks. Chunks are do nothing like a ned rig. So why not slow drag a ned? Just like the t rig with no skirt and smaller package. I tend to downsize alot because I fish pressured ponds and small has worked for me. So instead of a hard jerkbait why not a fluke type? I get the suspending aspect it and also the rattle to draw them from a bit farther but could they be just as effective? I get there really isn't replacing the drop shot. But am I limiting myself to what I am throwing because of the "standard"?
  18. That's what I originally bought it for, was frogging, but its done well for the A Rig and thrown some bigger heavier jigs with it too.
  19. I thought about piecing one together. BPS has the Formula reel and then a Lightning rod would be good enough for me. I have 6 spinning rods and only 1 is a 7' let alone a M. So as long as the rod meets the criteria I would be fine. This will completely replace a very cheap and crappy Shakespeare Crusader reel and H2O Xpress Angler rod.
  20. Ive been looking for something exactly like the Scamp. Not a wake bait but something that's not going to dive 5 feet.
  21. I do have an issue with the hook keeper and the line getting under it on the Chrome that I have but that's minor. I use it as my drop shot rod.
  22. $5 is fine, also some stores give veterans discounts so would be good there. I have a 13 Fate Chrome and I like it but didnt even think about looking into 13 again. I will look into this combo more!
  23. It's a visa so can spend it anywhere but I have a BPS a mile from me and picking it up and feeling it is ideal before I buy it. I see Abu has updated and put out new models in the budget gear game. The original Black Max casting combo hasn't let me down so ive thought about them in spinning.
  24. Where in Oklahoma are you going to be?
  25. I'm in the same boat, wait, the same bank as you. Ive gotten to really like my mid 6. Reels for lipless and such. I can speed them up if need be but i dont over power the lures accidently when im just zoned out reeling.
