  1. Two out of three DSG in my area quit selling fishing stuff all together so I have boycotted them. I'm going to see if BPS can order them or have them shipped to store.
  2. Now that would be cool. I'm going to look that up later. Yellow perch is a bucket list fish for me. What kind of bait or lure do you use for greyling and zander? I would love to fish for all of those species.
  3. Ive been looking at these and want to get a pack, but im not making a TW order for just wacky rings. If only BPS sold them!!!
  4. Moon Juice for sure. I rarely fish water clear enough to use it but if I'm buying anything from SK I have to get it in moon juice and then whatever color for the water I fish. Same with The Deal in Zman stuff.
  5. T rig worm for sure. They work anywhere that I fish and I RARELY throw them because I feel everyone else does throw them and I want to stand out and be different.
  6. Doubt anyone listed me as wanting to fish with so didn't read all the pages but here are mine. @A-Jay because knowledge @WRB because big bass knowledge @jbsoonerfan because he is knowledgeable about Oklahoma fisheries @schplurg seems like a cool guy @ironbjorn because I like his name haha Pros: Ike Either Shryock brother Edwin Evers Wheeler Tommy Biffle
  7. I'll mix things up and ask, what about from the bank and especially in ponds. Ponds big enough that you cant cast to the middle so some spots will be unreachable.
  8. I wonder what the pro's do or don't do as well. I bet some have serious superstitions and some idiosyncrasies they do every tournament.
  9. Wal-Mart. $20 will get you one already spooled up with line and ready to go!
  10. You forgot matching gloves too..... ?
  11. Oddly enough for me it was a Panfish Magnet 1/64oz jighead with a Morning Dawn Panfish Magnet using my daughters Moana pole. That is my luck.
  12. Ive been trying to find these and everywhere I look is on back order. I want a pack of the bluegill color so bad I cant stand it. I have a BPS gift card but they don't sell the HD colors!!
  13. Have you been to the BPS in Broken Arrow? Ive never been to any others or the Cabelas in OKC so I don't know how it compares to others.
  14. Ive only bought rods and reels separately three times now, but I don't like mix and matching brands. Like you are with cost I am with brands. My favorite are Lew's and when I bought two different ratios of Speed Spool LFS I almost went with a Diawa rod for one and an Abu Garcia for the other but in then end I refuse to mix and match, so when I put together a frog setup I just went with the SLX XT reel and SLX rod combo Alf offers because I wasn't mix and matching those either!!
  15. I dont know. I guess because I'm stubborn. Ive thought about giving it up many, many times and still consider it. Got rid of my jon boat, have the outboard for it for sale, and have really thought about putting all of my quality gear up for sale. I havent done it yet so there is something keeping me going. Im a pretty black and white kind of person. All or nothing, in or out. So either I keep bass fishing and actually succeed or I hang it up because it causes me more stress and frustration than a hobby should.
  16. I dont need green pumpkin to catch fish. That held up until last year when I broke down and used a GP stick bait wacky rigged and tore em up. Now sometimes it seems they will only bite green pumpkin. I hate it but I'll get over it.
  17. Ive only been fishing for five years and havent been to really any out of my local areas fishing stores. I have a nice BPS a mile from my house, a couple Academy stores close by and one DSG that still sells fishing stuff. BPS has the best selection so that gets my vote. Back in the Army I would go to Cabelas in Kansas City on occasion and it was a huge and really nice store, but cant remember the fishing section.
  18. Today has to be the single most frustrating day of fishing I have ever had. I don't get to go very often so when I do I jump at the chance. The day started with gastrointestinal problems then added back pain and stuff around the house taking up my time. I finally go at about 4:45 and decide on a small pond close to home in case my guts give me trouble I can get home fast. It was a blustery 70 degree day with lovely 25mph oklahoma winds whipping so I decided no super finesse that requires no weight or very light weights. I have a t rig with a ribbon tail, a slip bobber and Berkley Realistix power minnow under it, and a small road runner with a Bobby Garland Baby shad. Its super small and pressured so I figured that going small might help. Well it did and I got a bite and lost it, another bite and another lost fish. Might have been sunfish but I don't care I want to catch it. Break off the bobber rig on the ultra light, snag the t rig in a tree and lose it. Tied on a swim jig and lost it second cast because of wind and the previous casts back lash that crimped the line bad enough I guess because it flung off on the cast. So I throw one of those Power Minnows on the roadrunner and commence to get three more bites all to be lost at the bank. Now I'm home, hurt worse and think I'm actually sick with a stomach bug and annoyed and frustrated about my outing. Positives from it though, I figured out where they were, what they wanted, and just sucked at everything else. So I will take that as a positive that my hard work and learning over the few years got bites.
  19. Which would really be more practical since I'm a bank bound pond angler 95% of the time. So I'm not in waters with many shad, if any, so a gill would be matching the hatch better.
  20. I'm getting more into swim jigs this year so I might just have to try that in some pressured ponds, that is, if I get more colors because I don't have the swimon in anything but flamethrower.
  21. If I didn't already have Zakos in every other color I would use them on more of my chatterbaits. Ive never fished them on its own though so would be interesting seeing how people use a Swimon besides a trailer.
  22. It resembles a baby bull shad and I like the look of the H20 better than the catch co version. But I have no idea how either of them swim.
  23. Ive looked into this on you tube for castinfg distance. Also seeing a birds eye view of the water would be really cool. I am a bank angler with no boat so being able to see whats out there interests me so much. I'm fascinated by bodies of water and I want to scuba dive every pond I fish. Sailing a chatterbait out 100 yds would be really fun too!
  24. Not really uncommon but havent seen it mentioned so I will mention it. On a fire craw chatterbait I use a BBB Swimon in flamethrower. It works good, has a skinny profile, and has gotten bites. Doesn't seem to over power the blade at all
  25. I always get my excited about a new rod and reel because I don't have one in every color and shape and size like I do lures. I have lures for days, but a new setup to throw them in is exciting and fun to try out the new rod and reel. If I get a new one its because I don't have anything like it and it will serve a new purpose.
