For the Keitech 2.8"  Fat Impact Swim Bait and the Strike King 3.3" Rage Swimmer - what small swimbait jig head are you using that has a small enough hook and jig head to accommodate such small swim baits ? ... I'm thinking a 1/8th oz. ~ 3/16th oz. head weight with a size #2 , #1 or 1/0 hook is in the ball park - your experiences and recommendations ?

The heads AJay posted are great, but they are a lighter wire, so match your line/rod selection up appropriately.

Smaller swimbait almost always benefit running wise when presented on a line that allows them to run with that magic wiggle.

Strike King Baby Squadron work really well with the 3.3"

I like the smallest/lightest Gamakatsu swimbait head. They are the best I've found that don't tear up the head of the bait. I use these with 3.3's.

You can use a #1 for the 2.8s but I think the 1/0 is a better choice, 1/0 will work for the 3.3s as well and you can get away with a 2/0 sometimes, hook size can vary between style and brands.  

There are a bunch of really good heads available for small swimbaits.  Gamakatus Round Jig Head, Owners Ultra Darter Heads, Molix Racer Head, Hayabusa Beat Roller, Hayabusa Brush Easy, Outkast Money Darter and more depending on what kind of head or hook you want.   

For 1/8oz. and under, I prefer the Megabass Okashira screw head. I wish they made it in 3/16 & 1/4, but since the don't, I use the Dirty Jigs Matt Stefan Guppy heads with the 1/0 hooks that A-Jay mentioned. I typically use the 2.8 Keitech Fat Impact on the 1/0, but may use up to the 3/0 hook on the 3.3.

Also like the Keitech 3.5 Easy Shiner and the Megabass 3" Hazedong Shad.

I use either  the Megabass Okashira screwheads in 1/16 and 1/8 or Gamakatsu ball jigheads in 3/16th.

What rod and reel set up do you like with the 3/0? 3.2” is the measurement of the swimbait I’m using so this could match up well.

I just posted something similar in the SMB section and plan on going w/ the Dirty Jigs Tactical Bassin’ Finesse Jig Head in either 1/8 or 3/16.

Has anyone ever used a ball head crappie jig with a longer shank hook? I have some Lazer Sharp one that have the V bend hook and ive thought about using these with the 3.3 Rage Swimmer.

@A-Jay - I know we were discussing the TB Finesse version, but considering you also recommended the Guppy version here, which do you think would be a better fit for the 3.3” SIF? If the Guppy, would you recommend the 1/0 or 3/0?

I'm leaning 3/0 right there.

A 1/0 seems a little small for that much plastic.

It depending on lure girth you are using, If it is tiny you better use 1/0 but if using fat version  of lures, Definitely 3/0 is best choice.

Just a dumb Coonass, I simply use the EWG of choice & a pegged bullet weight.

Don't worry Im in the same boat. I've ditched jig heads pretty much across the board on swim baits. I trimmed down to 4 presentations either use the EWG/Pegged weight, an Owner Flashy Swimmer, Mesu Swobble head, or a belly weighted EWG depending on condition. They all have their own action depending on conditions. 

The bait monkey is still well fed... believe me...
