Zoom finesse worm
If it makes you feel any better, I think the catfish was as surprised to see us as @TnRiver46 and I were to see it.

You shoulda seen him baby that cat in with 6lb line and a finesse worm. We drifted 300 yards by the time he got it aboard. Then he caught an adult human by throwing a finesse jig.

Me either, but that little one gets real pushy if he thinks there might be a pizza bone somewhere.

Zoom finesse worm
☝️ I'll throw any trick worm-style plastic on a little ballhead or mushroomhead jig. I switch to a shakyhead-style jig when I start reeling in the local flora. When I start pulling up slop, I get rid of the weight altogether.

roboworm colors
Goes with everything, easy to accessorize around. Can't beat that.

That last one's cute as a button with his tiny meanness.

What do you do best?
I'm extremely good at finding punky wood.

Senko on a slider head, is it just a worm at that point
In my experience, it doesn't kill the action so much as change it. Whether that change is good or bad is entirely up to the fish.

Pulling the trigger on a Medium Light
For sure. I've used mushroom or blockhead jigs with the little wire weedguards, and haven't had any issues with missing bites. However – after far too much fighting with it – I eventually realized that I have the least success with ned rigs when I fish them in places where I have to use a jighead with a weed guard to have any hope of showing them to the fish.

Pulling the trigger on a Medium Light
I've don't recall ever missing bites with a weedguard, but I still don't fish a ned rig using a jighead with a weedguard because I'm just don't like fishing a ned rig in places where I'd need a weedguard to fish. As the veggies and slop get thicker and sloppier, I shed weight for finesse and add weight for power presentations. The other day a weightless, t-rigged stickworm or fluke was all that I could get through/above it all, and I was still cleaning them off every couple casts.

Pulling the trigger on a Medium Light
That's what's up. I dunno what happened, but a while after I bought the one I did, I realized that I have it in my hand far more often than not, and I throw just about everything that takes a light single hook with it.

Medium light rigs are a blast to fish, dude. You're gonna be glad you got it.

Best spinning reels under $150?
Love this reel.

Do you think these hooks are too big for this presentation?
Go big or go home.

Right on. The cool thing about that setup, for me, is that it's as close to a do-it-all lure as I can think of. Works in dang near any water clarity, and I've never seen a predatory fish bigger than a bluegill that doesn't think a bluegill is delicious.

I believe so. It was on a @Siebert Outdoors blue gill pattern shot caller.

Howdy from downriver.

will bass eat something they are not familiar with?
I mean we have empirical evidence that bass with eat both small and large blocks of wood. After that I'm not even sure a conversation about what bass will or won't eat is worth having outside of the fact that it's funny.

I found an aftermarket sunglass lens company.
For sure. I used these for weedeating and shooting and stuff like that. I wish I had a picture of the lenses that I replaced, because they were beat.

I've got a set of these lenses in an old pair of Oakley Flak Jackets. Fit's good, clarity's alright. I got no complaints.

I get what you're saying. I wasn't trying to fish a mayfly hatch so much as I was trying to fish and a mayfly hatch happened to me. lol The sheer amount of mayfly carnage would have been fun to see if, as you mentioned, I had been able to see past the fact that it was in the way of my catching a fish. Bass and fish that bass would normally eat were shouldering each other out of the way to get at them. It was a lot like people-watching at Golden Corral, now that I think about it.
