  1. I have some big spools of Big Game from the 90’s I found in the back of a cabinet. I’m tempted to use it but it would just be my luck to hook my PB and then find out it’s no good
  2. Yeah when I saw that on TW site is what made me ask this question
  3. I haven’t used braid in 30 yrs. I do still have a spinning spool loaded with 50 or 60lb test (that’s all it came in then). Does the new stuff sink? I wanted to try some this year.
  4. So how do you spool braid on correctly? I know you want it tight but how do you do it?
  5. Welcome! And welcome back to ? I took 20yrs and just got back last year. This is a great place to hangout and learn
  6. I have that same net and same problems with tangled treble hooks. Is your netting is rubber coated nylon? Mine is and the hooks go right through it making it tough to get out. I cut the handle foam off and attached a longer handle, about 20” I think just for a little more reach
  7. All I have to fish out of is a kayak So everything is out with me. I depend on leashes
  8. That why they make rod leashes. If a rod is in a rod tube it has a leash attached to it
  9. I do a winter 5 Stand league. We are indoors shooting out windows that are little roll up garage doors. You stay warm unless the wind is cranking. Last night was nice
  10. Here is the write up BigRigHDFD Lowrance 3/1 transducer mounting. Well let me start by saying thank you to Jackson Kayak for making the transducer scupper plug area big enough for the Lowrance 3/1 active imaging transducer. The Lowrance active imaging transducer is 11” long so it’s massive and takes up a lot of real estate. I am going to walk you through how My wife and I mounted it and the parts I used. This isn’t the only way but to me it’s the most streamline way to do it. The parts we used are: 1. Lowrance scupper transducer mount. (We used peices) 2. Lowrance totalscan replacement bracket. (We used only the long upper peice) The listed parts from Lowe’s: 2- 1 in galvanized corner brackets 1- #10-24 x 1ft All Thread 2- 5/32x3/8x1/16 Rubber washer 2- 1/2x.257x1/4 Nylon Spacer 1- #10-24x2in Stainless machine bolt 1- #10-24 Stainless Wing nut 2- #10-24 Stainless Locking Nut You will need bolt cutters, channel locks, screw driver and a socket set and hot knife or just use longer corner brackets at least 1.5-2”. We started by mocking up the transducer to make sure it would fit and give us the clearance needed. We took the Lowrance scupper plug mount and replaced the plastic rod with the 1ft all thread metal rod. (You will have to cut this, hence bolt cutters). We had to take the hot knife to remove the top of the totalscan replacement bracket to get it to seat right. We then connected the corner brackets to the all thread and ran the bolt, washers, and nylon spacers through to attach the transducer to the all thread. Note: we then took the all thread and made sure it was to the top of the bracket to prevent it from moving to keep it level. Once everything was connected we ran the components from the bottom to the top of the scupper plug. We then attached the rubber gasket, foam insert, scupper plug plastic bracket and the wing nut. My wife held the transducer to the bottom of the kayak so I could fasten the wing nut to the top to secure it and make sure it’s flush. After I had it where I wanted it I used the bolt cutters to trim the all thread to where the cap would fit over it. Once we did all of that we just ran the wires and she was secured! It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be but it wasn’t as easy either. The project took roughly 1 hour to complete. We did run the wires inside the hull so we did have to drill holes in the boat. For the Lowrance units this will require a 1” hole to get the cords through it. This is best covered by the Hobie thru hull plugs to keep water out.
  11. Curious as to why no trebles on a kayak?
  12. When I had a bassboat I always stowed with prop facing outside of the boat. The only reason why was I hit the on button once, ok maybe two or three times and chewed up the gel coat. oh if I was putting the cover on then prop in to protect the cover
  13. Never would have thought of that one
  14. TW’s 25 Days of Christmas I bought one to many Diawa reels. Now I could send it back but why would I do that. I found an extra old 6’ ML baitcasting rod in the back of the garage. It’s 30 yrs old but in good shape. What would you use a 6’ ML rod for? edit- I fish for bass in lakes out of a kayak if this makes any difference
  15. And that’s what I saw on TV
  16. I know nothing about it and only have seen it on TV but Lake of the Ozarks always looked very interesting
  17. Well..... I had 4 holders on my crate, 2 ram tubes along side my seat mounted on tracks and 2 rod troughs molded into the side of kayak for 8 total. For some reason while bored I figured I needed more. So I mounted 4 more rod holders onto my crate for 12 total. And like usual during a tournament I’ll probably use 3
  18. In 25 min my auction for my last (had 4) Curado CU-201 will be sold. Bought them when they 1st came out. I still have 2 Zebco Cardinal 4’s that were my Dad’s and my 1st spinning reels.
  19. Pitching heavy weeds is my main style of fishing. In my days of my heavy fishing in the 90’s telescopic flipping sticks were like heavy broom sticks. My favorite was a Berkley Lighting Rod. Now I use a 13 Fishing Envy Black 7’11”. Really lightweight and sensitive compared to my old stick. I never liked braid for flipping because I have a problem with controlling my wild hooksets. I end up ripping the hooks right out of the basses mouth. So I used 20lb Big Game mono. Excellent strength and cheap enough to change it weekly.
  20. I had a Liska before my Big Rig and my wife still has her Liska. The Liska is stable but not enough for me for standing but is very stable for sitting in the high position and paddle/fishing. The Liska is also a speed boat compared to the Big Rig. Electronics are easy to mount on the Liska hatch lid rail with a ram mount. Run the power and transducer cable under the lid to the battery and there is a scupper hole for the transducer to mount through
