  6. I don’t trout fishing but a friend took me out on a local creek with a spinning rod and blue fox spinners. For weeks all I caught was 8-10” browns. All of a sudden the big ones decided to feed. I got 2 16’s and this 18”. I’ve finally found something to do in the winter

  14. tried this adjustment this morning. when you say click do you mean the spool is loose enough to make a noise when moved side to side?
  15. Lightning flipping stick was my favorite all time rod. But I’m talking about a rod that was made in the 80’s. Heavy and thick like a broom stick. I had two - got to have backup to your favorite. Both rod’s reel seat broke on a hookset but they were 20 years old. I still have them. I just can’t part with them
  16. Spool begins to click? Sorry not sure what you mean

  18. I’ve been having a blast for 4 weeks walking Oatka Creek for trout with a spinning rod and in-line spinners. But...... The bass fisherman in me has me wondering if there are any creeks around Rochester area that have smallmouth in them? anything?
  19. I finally got a TW GC. My nephew came through??
  20. Haha I’m a righty with a LH reel. I also shoot right handed but I’m left eye dominate. I’m all screwed up. This reel casts so easy I can probably make a cast with that cut off rod handle. Sorry it was suppose to be BG. I corrected it. That green line was from the 90’s. It was a free giveaway from Berkley. Buy a big (over 2000yds of 20lb) spool get a small (700yds of 15lb green) spool free. Makes great backer. The monkey has bit me hard lately. You can’t buy happiness but I keep on trying
  21. I just got my new reels. First Diawa BC I’ve ever owned. My first impressions (I’m no expert by any means so these might not matter to you). I’ve only had Curado CU-201 since the 90’s. Very small in hand compared to my Curado cu-201 but once I mounted it on a rod I did find it comfortable. Doesn’t hold much line. I put Big Game mono backer on it about half the spool then Big Game mono main line. First cast I went down to the backer. Wow does this thing cast long distance. I was using a 1/2oz sinker. I couldn’t see where it landed and it went down to my backer line. When I set it up I did the spool tightness so the weight would go to the floor without much over spin. Magnetic brake set to 60%. Every cast I could feel a birds nest starting and then the brakes would kick in and no birds nest at all. That impressed me. All in all I like it and was in my price range. I’m sure I’ll get used to it once I get out on the water
  22. There are Facebook Hobie groups you could check in with. Also a group called Kayak Fishing Buy, Sell, Trade
  23. After a long time off of fishing I wanted to try fly fishing creeks for trout. We have lots of good trout streams around me. Problem is I know nothing about trout and even less about streams so I started FF for panfish, bass and pike. Bought a 5,8 and 12 wt setups. I can cast fine but it’s the finer details like roll casts, mending the line and catching fish that give me problems which frustrated me. So back to spinning and casting gear.
  24. I can tell you what I didn’t get TW GIFT CERTIFICATES dam!
  25. Well I’m in for over $60 into gloves and still have nothing. The Gill gloves surface material snagged hooks big time. The Glacier gloves are to bulky to use while casting but should be good when paddling. still need something for fishing Will the outer layer snag hooks? Well now that’s a good idea
