Thats basicaly two way to do it as far as I know, And also I never catch any on it as well, I think it because our condition not match it. why Tatsu is not in your list? After so many research and asking members here, I choose 10lb test Tatsu for same application.

Maybe for you, But for me when I cast, I can stop the spool by my thumb at the exact point I want, but in spinning I don't have that option.

There is few reasons that make anyone go BFS: 1- If you you are not fan of spinning reels(like myself). 2-BFS casting in time, (make more cast vs using spinning). 3-accuracy(BFS casting accurate vs spinning). 4-thats something new and look cool :). Thats why I have 4 BFS set ups, I start that for river routing, but I notice that I catch bass in highly super duper pressured lake when no one is able and that is proven to me.

Do Double uni knot and make sure your line didn't past the shelf life. and if you do that you got almost 100% knot(there is no 100% knot out there). Double uni knot proves me for few years now, I never broke any.
