  1. Thanks man I try to keep things fresh...spice it up a bit. oh yeah we are counting senko type baits
  2. What would be your all time starting line up of plastic worms? Can be current worms or discontinued. Kind of an all time top 5. 5) 4.5 inch Berkley havoc bottom hopper-black emerald 4) 5 inch Gary yamamoto original senko-green pumpkin 3) Mister Twister Phenom worm-motor oil 2) Zoom trick worm-green pumpkin 1) Renegade 4inch curl tail-Motor oil Been a while since we had a good old worm thread...and what can I say its winter! What you got?
  3. Well I ordered some mustad fastach heads so I can put whatever hook I want. Sounds like 2 really good baits on them are menaces and ultra vibe speed craws which is perfect as those are two of my favorite most versatile baits so I have alot of both. Now I just need ice out...good thing thats only 60-90 days away...barf...
  4. I live in Iowa so I have cold water half the year...so yeah I can do slow. Although let me ad that even in cold water that's not always the deal. This past April I fished a jig and shaky head one day painfully slow without a tap. Switched to a lipless on a straight retrieve and caught a 7lb largemouth.
  5. My dad just got rid of a bulk spool of 14lb stren that was finally brittle after probably 20 years.
  6. Menace grub is a fantastic trailer on a swim jig and its good on a bladed jig as well. However I like less action on a bladed jig so I use a 4inch fluke mostly...this year I'm gonna try a BBB swimon because I've heard lots of good things about them.
  7. Anybody using a menace grub on one?
  8. Lure in question was I believe a tailspin but it was a crawfish imitation?
  9. Closest I've come is challenging a buddy for beer here and there. I would fish a small tournament if the right circumstance presented itself. If it never happens that's ok.
  10. Tonight we are havin a little something. The lady is having a Busch latte...I'm going buffalo trace with a little ice.
  11. Wow can't believe this thread is still going. I got a Daiwa Revros and it feels great for the money.
  12. I've never thrown one so I need some pointers. What is a good brand and all around size? Preferred plastics? Rod,reel and line setup?
  13. Honestly I don't throw paddle tails often but for me the eco pro swing shad has done the trick.
  14. Pretty much all i use besides big game for treble hook baits.
  15. According to definition mastering takes 10000 hours of practice at any one given thing. By that definition the only bass bait I would be a master at would be a spinner bait. But I learn new things about spinnerbaits all the time. Lets consider something...maybe you want to be a master electrician. So you train, practice and put in your time...and there you go your a master. I don't think you can ever get that way in fishing because there are so many variables...weather,moon phase, water temp and clarity...that you can't control. That's why guys that are incredible at one thing but aren't versatile get skunked alot. I think the big thing is to learn how to recognize the things that trigger bass in all conditions so you can make the correct decisions about areas, lures and presentations.
  16. I believe that's what he's talking about. Only thing I can think of that matches his description.
  17. 1) Catch a 20lb bag from one of my two local ponds 2) See if I can figure out how to fish a dark sleeper-see if it lives up to the hype 3) Catch more smallmouth 4) Help at least 1 or 2 people break a PB...have a buddy in mind...and my lady
  18. Biggest small mouth was maybe 2.5lbs-came on a bluegill swimjig with a summer craw menace grub. Biggest largemouth was close to 7lbs-came on a 1/2oz chrome blue back Cordell spot.
  19. Aird x all the way for those techniques...normally $55 but can be found for less quite often. Other $50 rods can't touch em. Only other option that would be better is if you find a clearance rod at Wal-Mart...I've found lots of Falcons over the years for $27 each. Besides that tho I'd go aird.
  20. Gonna try a bourbon mule tonight...buffalo trace, ginger beer and fresh lime juice over ice with a couple dashes of angostura bitters.
  21. I'd fish it!
  22. Maybe an overreaction on my part..ill get a couple to try. Just not gonna go all in to start.
  23. Ok so they have a "weed guard" but they suck around wood and rock? Never mind....I'm not getting any. I don't like baits that are designed for cover but can't be fished around it. Sorry for wasting everybody's time.
  24. I'm planning to fish them mostly around rock and maybe weeds..no wood. Do you have any go to colors? What size do you suggest for the 2-6 water depth?
