chatterbait and swim jig trailer

Anything Rage Tail - Rage Craw, Rage Bug, etc

I've had good luck with Berkley Pit Boss and the Chigger Craw is another one.

Zoom Speed Craw or Z-Craw

Pretty much anything with flapping appendages is a good pick

Menace grub is a fantastic trailer on a swim jig and its good on a bladed jig as well. However I like less action on a bladed jig so I use a 4inch fluke mostly...this year I'm gonna try a BBB swimon because I've heard lots of good things about them.

I fished chatterbaits a lot this past spring/summer. Was throwing the Jack Hammer and Fogy from Siebert. I found that too much action was actually a bad thing since the chatter itself does so much of the work. Read that a few places around here/ saw on YT as well. A lot of ppl say to use a Keitech upside down for little less action. I personally haven't had much success with that.

My continued go to was the Zako. It fits so well and does just the right amount on the chatter IMO. I tried a bunch of different trailers and seemed to really only get bites with Zakos. Super Flukes were OK and Rage Menace had a lot of action. Turned Vertical calmed them down a lot. This is just my 2 cents. I do not have years of experience like many others here but happy to share.

The hook up tackle had a great video on the new stealth blade. I tried that 1-2 times late in the fall and the zako is a little big. They recommended the Deps Death Adder 4in and OSP DoLive Stick Spec II 3.5in. I am going to look into those this spring/summer as well.

Hope this helped some. GL

The Eeliminator is my go to for chatter baits, and spinner baits.

Been wanting to try these. What size do you use?

Had a lot of success with the Menace- specifically the GP on Bhite Delite color.  Haven't felt the need to turn them vertically- I think the menace rigged standard has a killer action on the back of a jackhammer

Strike King Blade Minnow, Rage products, Swing Impact Fat and a Zoom Super Speed Craw.  With those, I’m good too go.

The Z-Man DieZel Minnowz are great as well. 4". Hot Snakes is my go-to color.

This time of year I like using a Zoom super chunk or chunk jr.

My most successful have been 5” Cabelas’s swimbait, and a Fluke

The bluegill colored chatterbaits coupled with a dark green rage tail menace rigged vertically was one of my top producers for largies. Many of them feed on bluegills of various sizes and this lure not only looks like one, but acts and sounds like one too.

Hmm you’ve got me thinking.. love the bluegill jackhammer color and liked the look of the watermelon orange zako because it matched the bait perfectly.... but as I picture a bluegill, the back end is darker than the rest of the body- AND they have a wider tail than a zako gives, some may say wider like a vertical menace.... I like the cut of your jib

Zako, baby menace grub, boot tail swimbait.  Those are the trailers I use the most

Pitboss, Devil's Spear, Menace, Swimon, Fat Impact, Senko.

I use the smaller I think it is 3.5 or so for chatter baits and the larger one for spinner baits.

Both the standard Lake Fork Tackle Live Magic Shad and the boot tail version are very good. Keitechs rigged upside down or with the tail slightly chopped off, swim senkos and the many variants and on swim jigs I've had some luck with NetBait Paca Chunks

I did purchase some 4" Zako's to pair with chatterbaits this coming year.....

Rage Menace Jr. rigged verically has been a favorite as it is more lifelike and mimmicks fish tail action. Used to like Zako but it was a tad large/heavy and actually seemed to inhibit some of the action on the bladed jig. Really digging the Strike King Blade Minnow.

Blade Minnow on a 3/8-1/2oz Scrounger head has been the freaking heat too! Green Pumpkin Pearl Blade Minnow with a dab of dye on the tail. I like orange or red.

*Regarding the BBB Swimon : There's nothing to see here folks - keep it moving DitchPanda , let's keep it moving and keep quiet.

Here's one nobody would think of Zoom Dead Ringer Worm 4" (Pre-Spawn)

Lots of good suggestions I've never heard of in here. I've only ever used the Zman Razor Shad

Not to distract too far from the topic, did you find any difference in catch rates between the jack hammer and fogy?
