Powers gold label Irish whiskey...
Anybody tried this? How is it? I've had Jameson of a few different types, Bush mills and Tullamore Dew. My favorite Irish I've had is Redbreast 12 but its $65 here ...im looking for another good budget pour.

Favorite movie directors....
Pretty straight forward... Whose your favorite? But to spice it up lets do two: favorite director still active and favorite whose no longer active. For me: No longer active: Alfred Hitchcock. Active: Toss up between Tarantino and Scorcese.

I could definitely see that. When I want a sweet dessert drink its either an amaretto sour or white russian.

Tonight I had a pour of Wild Turkey 101..still can't decide if I like it or not. Also had a pour of 4roses single barrel...delicious. I'm with you on this man...I generally like my whiskey to taste like whiskey. But from time to time I find a flavored whiskey that hits just right...a guy can get in trouble fast. The crown royal flavored offerings are particularly tasty.

I've never used grasshoppers for cats. I've always heard they are underrated. Guess I should try em.

And the whiskey hunting/ buying streak continues! Yesterday we ran to Sioux Falls for sushi, on the way out of town we stopped at the biggest liquor store around here- Williquors. Ended up getting a bottle of Lagavulin 8 and finally got a bottle of Barrel Seagrass rye. The lagavulin was smoky and delicious--no surprise. The Seagrass being 118.2 proof was straight fire neat..all I got was Ethanol on the nose and burn on the palate. I let it sit in the glass and open up for 15 minutes then dropped a couple ice cubes in it...it was really something after that. Very unique..never tasted anything like it.

Loosing touch with good friends.
In my teens and 20s I had alot of friends...no good ones. Now days I've got a handful of people I see and fish with a few times a year. A few buddies I still talk with often but we rarely see each other. I've had the same best friend for 17 years...we talk all the time and hang out weekly, sometimes several times a week.

Bourbon (Whiskey) For Beginners?
Which Ezra are you talking about? I bought the 99 a few months back for like $24 and was pretty surprised by it.

Bourbon (Whiskey) For Beginners?
Like said above, not actually that odd. I don't mind ice in bourbon but 95% of the time I much prefer neat. In fact I've noticed some off flavors highlighted in a few bourbon with the addition of ice. Makers mark is a bourbon people often recommend pouring over ice, I tried it once and found a strong sour note that was very off putting that I don't notice neat. What bourbons have you tried so far? Favorite one you've tried?

Yep-So take a rocks glass and fill it with ice. Then fill half way with whiskey sour mix and half way with Amaretto which is an almond liqueur. As far as being friends it is possible unless your the guy falling off that bar stool. I've already got friends I gotta babysit when we drink!

Bourbon (Whiskey) For Beginners?
My favorite bourbon to recommend for beginners is buffalo trace, I feel like its smooth, has quintessential bourbon flavors and is easy drinking with very little burn. Looks like you noticed that as well compared to the makers mark. I'd recommend a step up in price if you have somewhere locally that has a very good bourbon selection. One I tried recently was Calumet Farms small batch, I was actually gifted a bottle. It is a mix of 8 and 15 year bourbons and its only 86 proof, so that low proof coupled with good barrel time equates to a light, easy drinking whiskey with no ethanol hit or rough edges. Another trick to try is find a few boubons you like the flavor of and add an ice cube or a tiny bit of water to see if you can tame down the harshness. If you don't dilute them too far you can usually still pick up the flavors while covering up that straight alcohol burn your speaking up. Maybe the best suggestion is try and seek out a bar near you that specializes in bourbons, or at least whiskey in general. If they are serious about whiskey they will have bartenders that are serious and educated as well. Go in and strike up a conversation with the bartenders, explain that you are new to bourbon but are interested in learning and experiencing them, do they have any easy drinking recommendations for newbies? Lastly ill just say don't force it. I've got buddies that are seasoned alcohol consumers that I've tried to convert to whiskey and its just a no go. Straight high proof alcohol no matter how refined is going to be somewhat hot and offputting to a certain degree. If you find you like whiskey that will diminish thru experience and you will come to love the flavors and mouth feels of the different offerings. However if you find yourself always saying I liked the flavors, but I can't get past the alcohol taste maybe it will be time to look elsewhere.

Your Favourite Season
I agree Fall is by far my favorite. Kinda bittersweet living where I live because I dread winter, but I love fall. Bass get very predictable and easy to catch in several local lakes. Catfish are fattening up and putting on the feed bag. Walleye and Sauger start gathering up in holes in the local river. Scenery is great. Weather is chilly and very pleasant, welcome like you said after a hot summer. Also most guys are hunting so i rarely see other anglers. Halloween is my favorite holiday, so there's horror movies flooding all my streaming services, so I have plenty to watch at night after fishing.

Much cooler weather here today and my lady is going to a concert with her brother and sister,so that means bourbon night for me. Gonna make some grilled pork belly and charred Serrano tacos to get a good base down. Went and did a little shopping, had $100 on me and walked out with 3 bottles I've never tried. Four roses single barrel, George Dickel 8yr (recommended by the store owner) and JTS Brown( always looking for a new budget daily drinker, heard good things). Plan to try a little of each and whatever one I'm feeling ill finish the night with a generous pour of it.

Super Bowl or World Series? you choose
Haven watched either in years. Growing up I was all baseball all the time. As an adult I got way more into football. Don't really care about either now.
