Living with regret......
39 and I have no kids. Not saying they are a waste of time just was never a priority for me. All my closest friends have kids and they all say its the best thing they ever did...I have met their children and there's no way that's true! This is a good way to live...and what I strive for. As it pertains to jobs and purchases buyers remorse is foolish because you thought it was what you wanted/needed at the time. When you look back on the times you've hurt loved ones there's no way you can think that's what you really wanted because I can almost guarantee you weren't thinking when you did it. Reflecting on these events has not made me perfect by any means, but I am a better man today than I was yesterday.

Living with regret......
So I know everybody always says don't live with regrets...but that's much easier to say than do. I'd wager that every person on this site has done and said things they wish they hadn't...and maybe those feelings have lingered for years. There are those choices you make or maybe the chances you didn't take that make you wonder if your life would be different or perhaps even better if you had. Personally I think regret is a way to hold yourself accountable for your poor choices and hopefully use that to become a better person. I'm not suggesting holding onto it forever and beating yourself to death over it, but rather using it as a tool to set a standard for yourself of what you think is acceptable behavior. What's your take?

Closest pool around me is 30ish miles one way. Hard to do that 4-5 times a week when your factor in crap weather and working until 7pm. not sure...I work out at home

Surviving winter...
For those of us living in the North country winter can be a real struggle. Super cold temps coupled with ice and snow, very short days and seasonal depression. The best thing you can do is embrace it and look for ways to stay active and even get enjoyment out of these tough conditions. For me I've got two things I really do that help keep me sane: 1). Exercise- - just got back into it about 8 months ago after years of hiatus but I forgot how good even a modest workout can feel. 4-5 nights a week I'm running\jogging anywhere between 1.4 and 1.75 miles on my treadmill. I'm also doing some yoga, stretching and core exercises..the improvement in my lower back has led me back into my number ........ 2) Ice fishing-- last year was the first year in 20 I did no ice fishing. I blamed on "being over it" but the truth is I didn't go because of back issues and the depression that came with it. Well this year I've been out 4 times and I've loved it. Been going for anywhere between 1.5 to 4 hours with basically no real back pain. Outside of that I do the things we've mentioned in other threads similar to this like studying fish, tackle organization etc. For those of you in the land of heavy snow and dark days what are you doing to keep your sanity?

Radios While Fishing?
100% agree. There is a lot of good info out there...and there's even more clever trickery that is nothing more than job\degree justification. You know this definitive indisputable fact stuff written by a person who has never had a real job or real life experience to validate any of their popcorn fart realizations.

Obnoxious sleepers...
My girlfriend ******* about this very same thing...I'm a light sleeper but have no issue falling asleep. When she gets mad at me for it I say maybe you'd be more tired if you worked harder. That usually goes over really good.

Procuring your own bait..
This I go along with...I'm not raising maggots for my ice fishing. Biggest thing around here for open water is there are no bait shops within 30 minutes..and the few there are have small selections. So if you want good bait...like the ones I mentioned... you get it yourself or its gas station worms for you.

Procuring your own bait..
Guess that's the point I'm trying to make. Buying bait isn't cheap...much cheaper to get your own. So they are extremely stringent on collecting your own bait. What I'd like to know is how do the bait shops get policed? Are they only able to get bait from and sell to the exact same body of water? If not why are they so special?
