Celebrating my Christmas with my girlfriend, mom and sisters kids today since I worked last weekend. Just having a bunch of food and a few gifts being exchanged-- keeping it pretty lowkey. Every body be careful out there tonight, sure to be plenty of dummies about. Happy new year to my bassresource brothers , sisters and families.

Watched it last night...like it but didn't love it. Probably had my hopes too high with people making it sound like it's the most important single piece of media made since the bible. People are always doing that in reviews...making outrageous claims and building things up way to much. Its especially true with movies and bands. A few years back when Greta van Fleet came out people were saying they were gonna be the next Led Zeppelin. Get real.

Yearly resident here in Iowa is $22. I bought the 3 year angler special for $62...and for $6 extra I upgraded from a paper license to a hard card similar to a drivers license. So $68 for 3 years...just under $23 a year. I for sure fish 100 times a year..that's cheap entertainment.

Fishing goals: spend more time catfishing and panfishing- especially early and late in the season. Overall goal: same as last year- eat healthier/cleaner and work out more. Almost exactly a year ago to the day I started that journey...found some success and some failure. To date I've managed to keep almost 20lbs off and my lower back is in better shape than it was a year ago. May not sound like much but I'm proud of it. Now I'm just gonna keep on this path.

I have buddies I talk to almost daily about fishing related things like weather, water temps and reports. My girlfriend still asks me about it everytime I go. At work I have a guy on my crew that loves to fish so he asks me often.

So first off let me say I love my woman..she is a saint and has kept me alive for the last 11.5 years. That said, she is no picnic to sleep next to. I'm a very light sleeper and she has a loud snore...I'm talking neighbors gonna hear it and call the cops for a potential Iowa chainsaw massacre situation loud. Also I'm 6'3" how does a woman who claims to be 5' ( she's really maybe 4'11) take up 78% of the bed space? Anybody else have a sleep partner that's challenging?

I'm gonna be using the rod primarily for size F03 rapala floating minnows, strike king bitsy minnows, rapala ultralight minnows and the smallest rebel value minnows. All of those baits are shallow divers and between 1\16 and 1\8 oz so I think the rod will handle them fine. But time will tell.

So I've been looking pretty hard the last week or so for a rod and reel specifically for throwing hardbaits for panfish. Considered going the BFS route but couldn't find what I want. Settled on a BPS panfish elite 6'8" ultralight and for a reel I settled on a Daiwa Legalis LT size 1000... Weight is only 6.5oz and for a bonus the color scheme matches the rod.

Cat person..we never had dogs growing up so that's what I'm used to. We have 2 cats currently: Sullivan, he's coming up on 7 years old and Casper, we about 8-9 months and he's albino. The thing I appreciate about cats is that they have strong personalities and can be dicks so its kind of true to life and prepares you for dealing with people. Dogs are basically always happy to see you and loyal so thats a false reality!

So I'm gonna order a panfish elite rod from BPS but I'm leary about how they package rods. For those that have received rods shipped from them recently...do they use a rod tube or a chincy box?

Sounds yummy I love a paloma...much more of a summer drink for me tho.
