I basically watch 2 YouTube channels anymore: tacticalbassin mostly for the teaching involved. The other is river certified he's an Iowa guy like me and most of his videos revolve around small river channel cats and wall eyes which is right up my alley. Plus he seems like a good dude and he doesn't shy away from keeping fish to eat which is refreshing in this day and age.

We don't do alot usually either. Ill probably pick her up a little something but most of my cash is going towards home improvement stuff. We are getting new garage doors installed as we speak, plus I plan on having my brother in law do new flooring in our bathroom and new flooring\sink in our kitchen over the winter. I also plan on getting us a countertop ice maker.

As mentioned above everything @Siebert Outdoors makes is quality so you can buy with confidence. What I use is BOSS swim jig heads- a medium wire 4\0 mustad hook. A 4pk of heads is $7 and I just make my own skirts...I get 4 good quality jigs, the exact color and size of skirt I want also hand tied with braid for under $10. Usually takes me about 10-15 minutes for 4 depending in how picky I am. That setup has caught me hundreds of bass in the past 4-5 years.

Was looking for a rod in the 8 -9 ft range and I ended up finding something non steelhead related that I kinda forgot about. I was cruising on cabelas and ran on across the whuppin stik...an ugly stik clone basically. Did some research on a few cat fishing sites about the newer models...I had one years ago and liked it....and all I saw was positive reviews. These things are only $30 and wouldn't you know they have an 8ft 2 piece spinning model in medium fast action...so I ordered it this morning.

That's awesome...hope it turns out that way where I work. For all the things they do right they do just as many wrong. Kind of in a unique situation right now where we can't find decent candidates to hire so they really can't fire anybody for less than murder. So when the management team drops something unfair or unprofessional on us guys are speaking up and putting them in their place. Heard the GM Monday morning quarterbacking on how things were handled over the weekend..then I heard someone say if you can do it better then you do it...he shut his mouth. I realize its the job of the GM, PM and maintenance manager to get more out of there guys with constructive criticism but when its not constructive and damaging for morale...welll...you really gotta know when to hold em know when to fold em. Back during our fall shutdown our GM really made himself look like a jackass by criticising the guys running the whole deal-myself, my plant manager and my shift supervisor. He we are working back to back 60+HR weeks getting our ***** chewed by a guy taking vacation during a shutdown...which is against company policy btw unless your better than everybody else. To say it ticked us all off is a gross understatement I heard everything from he has lost all my respect to talk to me like that again and you won't have teeth left. He knew he was wrong because he tip toed around us for weeks after but he has such an ego he never could apologize. The point of this rant I guess is that I'm hoping there is some kind of change in our plant because the way he is pushing is not sustainable- and the knowledge required to run our facility is not easily replaced with somebody off the street. It takes months of on the job training to be even aware of what's going on and years to get it dialed in. Hopefully he realizes people over profit before its too late. We had a sister plant that struggled with production because of horrendous turnover. Corporate went in and found out the issue was the management team...so they fired them and put new guys in their place. Problem solved. So this old school mentality of im the boss and I'm untouchable and therefore superior is completely false.

We have slot of little things like that during the year as well..it really does help boost morale. We have a safety scavenger hunt going on right now...if you complete it you get a cool company hat. If we get 100% participation we get a rib eye lunch.

I use the shallow version in the spring and fall around rocks and have had great success with them when the conditions are right.

So I'm thinking of getting one of these rods for slip bobber fishing catfish. They are long so they should be good to steer the bobber around things and keep line off the water. Also they seem to have a parabolic type action from what I've seen which I like. Anybody use one as described? If so any brand recommendations?

I to am a scrooge mcduck. I like almost all holidays more than Christmas. Its my girlfriends favorite hands down...trees been up for weeks. I don't really care as long as I don't have to help.

I like salty chips on a pbj its the onion part that scares me. I agree on the holiday pay thing...if they wanna pay me for 60 hrs for working 36 and give me 2 extra days off to bank I can justify missing holidays.

All the ponds here are locked up solid...heck even the river as of yesterday is mostly froze over as we've been unseasonably cold up until a few days ago. We are in a stretch of nice weather so if the river opens up enough I may try for gold eye Monday when I'm off. They will make good catfish bait come ice out.

I won't knock it because I haven't tried it but not sure I could honestly... It sounds challenging to say the least.

Yeah that sucks. I had today off but I gotta work 3-12s this weekend. I was doing Monday - Friday for about 9 months but I got asked to come back on shift in October since we are shorthanded and like a dummy I said yes. Had I been on that rotation still I'd have a 4 day weekend..but such is life. Good thing is tomorrow is a paid holiday for us so ill get 12hrs double pay and get to bank 8 hrs of pto. Come Christmas my crew works the entire weekend but ill get 24hrs double pay and 16 hrs pto for Xmas Eve and Christmas day. That softens the blow considerably.

Well my girlfriend took off around 3 to go black Friday shopping with my mom, sister and niece ...kind of a girls weekend tradition for them the past 4 or 5 years. Thought about having leftovers but I felt a little fancier than that. Supper was blackened mahi mahi with butter, lemon white wine dill sauce and a butter toasted rice pilaf with a glass of champagne.

Been eating ham for the past week and we aren't big on turkey. Today's menu is pork roast, green beans, mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes, cornbread stuffing, homemade gravy, whole berry cranberry sauce and turtle pie.

How could you even drink enough for a hellacious hangover at that pace?
