  1. Oh Christ you had to ask. Let the onslaught of tackle warehouse sucks and is the devil comments commence. In all seriousness I've been very lucky so far...I'm sure someday they will get me. In October I ordered a custom garage door from home depot..within 45 seconds I got one of those alerts from the credit card company saying hey did you do this or is it fraudulent? They are looking out for it at least
  2. Yep looks like 27 Tuesday and 36 Wednesday for me. I'm gonna be out in a light flannel sweating after this freeze out.
  3. So I'm considering getting a BFS setup for crappie and bluegill primarily...of course I will catch some incidental bass as well. Looking to throw mostly small swimbaits and micro crankbaits. Budget: I'd like to stay under $150 for the combo but would go up to $200. Recommendations? Looking for line recs as well.
  4. I agree with the spring sentiment. We are at -45 wind chill here right now...gonna be like that the next few days. All the double pay I'm earning for working this upcoming weekend will get eaten up by my d**n natural Gas bill.
  5. My next pan fish rod will likely be one of these...lots of good recommendations on them. Ill see how good my next paycheck is after working Christmas Eve and Christmas day...then probably pull the trigger.
  6. Happened several years ago on a cold dreary November day. I had never really fished a jig and was determined to figure it out. I hiked out to a pond that I knew had good ones in it but can be kinda finicky. Brought 1 jig rod and a few spare jigs ...1 bag of trailers. Fished hard for several hours and only got 1 bite..but I made it count. Did a few measurements and according to what I read online the old girl was 8ish pounds. I've seen a few confirmed 8s and feel.comfortable with that number. Not bad for a first jig fish.
  7. Grapefruits are delicious...I should have them more often.
  8. Just had an ice rod fly out of my hand last week on a hookset...to be fair it was 20 outside and my hands were wet so I couldn't feel them. One of the crappiest deals I've had happen was last summer I get a bite on a swim jig like 5 ft from shore...I swung and the jig flew up and smashed into the blank. Snapped it right in half.
  9. What about fishing from shore...is that a possibility where you are?
  10. Kinda like how you cant tell tone in a text message..the word OK can be acceptance, a question or even condescension. Without that your left to decipher it based on your current mood, the way you perceive the conversation to be going and your preconceived notions of the person your talking to. That's a dangerous combination. That said I've had very few bad interactions here...the positive ones, coupled with ones where I learned something greatly outnumber the negative ones. There are jerks everywhere, just far fewer here from my experience and I just work around them. Guess if that changes ill call it a day, but until then I quite enjoy what @Glenn has created here. ok boomer ???
  11. My buddy has a hornady one and man does that get a reel clean. He's done several spinning reels for me and they are like new when they come out of there. I may look to pick a cheap one up.
  12. 56 is way too hot. Why would you need to go further south?Btw -8 wind chill here
  13. Spinner bait always works..well if you know how to do it
  14. Well im.sans boat so I go wherever and make it work if that means ice fishing gear, shorts and flip flops or heavy pants, long sleeve shirt and hip boots. I do for the most part subscribe to Doug Stanges theory of go beyond fork stick country. If I'm on the river or even my local ponds don't just fish by the ramp, jetty or public fishing docks...hike the trail or make your own and get to unpressured fish. Makes a huge difference.
  15. If you worry about the rod being too short and your lure being too cheap...I caught a 16in largemouth Wednesday on a cheap tungsten ice jig on a 23un ultralight ice rod while chasing crappies. No woke, entitled, millenial bass up here in Iowa.
  16. Surely there's at least one or two good tyers on here that could make you something very close
  17. I believe I have a strong work ethic...in every review I've ever been part of at work its one of the first things that gets mentioned. I got mine from watching my parents growing up. My dad worked a ton when I was a kid...like 60-80hr weeks very common much of my childhood. My mom took care of us kids, worked a full time job and kept the house going. I owe them alot.
  18. I'm surprised you don't make your own!
  19. Good luck to you man ...hopefully you two find a path thru these dark days.
  20. Oh I'm not underestimating them in any way...I've caught plenty on Ned rigs with size 6 or 4 hooks. I'm just saying in general a smaller hook seems to be more efficient at hooking bluegills.
  21. Winter for me includes: Going thru and reorganizing tackle-cleaning, greasing, oiling, fixing and modifying Ordering what I need for spring- this year its been all crappie and catfish gear Cooking- I cook all year but especially alot in winter which is good because the past year I've been trying to eat healthier and cleaner Ice fishing- went yesterday and caught a pile of 10-11.5 inch crappie Work- cover lots of vacation days and holidays to rack up extra PTO and cash to fund those ice out excursions First and foremost I spend lots of time with my Lady since we are both busier with extra curricular things in the fair weather season Last but not least- Cry. Alot until ice out...hard water fishing just isn't the same for me.
  22. Who on here uses one? What do you use it for? What brand do you like? Last but not least...what liquid do you use in it?
  23. Gonna say if 25 bass is a tough day then I really suck
