Wish I could find a few walleyes locally. My river is low and walleyes usually get pretty stacked up in conditions like that. I've tried several times and haven't found any yet..waters still fairly warm yet tho so I'm confident October and November will produce. I have found plenty of drum and gold eyes willing to eat my twister tails.

With a stone I'm pretty d**n good if I do say so myself. I was meat department manager of the local grocery store in town from the age of 22 to 30. Learned how to sharpen knives on a 3 way stone from a guy that cut meat since the 50s and another guy that was line manager at a packing house for 25 years. At home I use a rada sharpener...it does ok.

So in the spring of the year I always hunt down some asparagus and morels...then I often times pick mulberries when they come in season. I was curious who out there likes to forage some of natures goodies? Also is there anything you find in fall?

Perfect! My other catfish rod is an old ugly stik original 7ft6 medium light casting rod. I love it for smaller channel cats- perfect for fish in the 1-5lb range. That said I caught one in the 7-8lb range last sunday..handled it no problem.

Finally decided on a rod and got it ordered... Ugly Stik catfish special 8ft medium heavy moderate casting 2 piece. Ordered it from Cabelas and got free express shipping... After tax it was $64.19. I've got a Garcia C4 6600 and some 20lb big game to throw on it.

Was gonna say last October and November I had several days of better than average fish. I don't catch huge numbers that time of yeah but I've caught some giants.

I'd like to but we are going in our shutdown season...I'm working 60+ hours the next two week. The upside is ill make a bunch of money so ill go shopping for Flannel and a new catfish rod soon!

So I've lived up north for 21 years and never really worn much flannel. My best buddy loves it and wears it constantly so I'm ready to give in and rock the look of many of the greatest men to walk the earth I.E. Hemingway, Nick Offerman, Otis "toad" Smith and that dude from Dumb and Dumber that hocked on Jeff Daniels burger. Looking for some brand suggestions?

Another bug plus besides the bite detection and casting benefits is how great they are in wind. A traditional stand up bobber blows like crazy but these lay flat and are heavy so if you keep your line relatively tight they hold pretty good in breezy conditions.

Been using rocket bobbers for 15+ years. They may be the best pan fishing invention ever.

Oh I know ...I've been thru this for 20+ years. Mid August until mid\late September is brutal for me, always has been. Think i just needed to ***** about it!Then we get to October and its completely different. My issue now is finding anywhere with biting fish. A month from now when walleye, bass and catfish are all going my issue will be what to target! That's a good problem to have. Often ill go in the morning and catch bass, head home for lunch and a nap then head out for evening walleyes and catfish. Great way to spend a cool fall day.

So my bass fishing has been fruitless the past several weeks. In fact in the past 5 outings I've caught 2 and lost one...Last 3 times I've been completely skunked. I lost it...if I ever had it to begin with. I switched over to catfishing recently just to stop the a#$ beatings. I'm going out tomorrow for pan fish but I'm bringing along 1 bass rod rigged with a trick worm. Ain't expecting much but 1 bass would be a miracle. No real point to my post I guess...just needed to vent. P.S. it hasn't been a total loss...I rediscovered my love for catfishing! Also I'm looking forward to fall walleyes.

Wrong..its still weird

Its always hard to understand how a company can make the changes it makes, especially an outside corporate person that's never really dine the job deciding what's best. Happens almost everywhere from I can tell. Comes down to 2 things normally: money and expendable people justifying their job.

Depends where I'm going. If its a new body of water or one I don't fish often ill really sit down and think out spots, baits, water temps etc. If its my local lake that I've fished 50-100 times a year for 20 years ...the baits just kinda tie themselves on at this point.

So I'm a fat guy, always have been. Well not always but even then I was a fat guy at heart. That said I've had several favorite foods\meals over the years...bbq brisket and pulled pork with potato salad, prime rib with salad and baked sweet potato , crab legs with more crab legs! and lasagna with garlic bread just to name a few. But the past few years my hands down 2 favorites are my moms chicken and dumplings and my girlfriends scalloped potatoes and ham. How bout you guys and gals?

I find myself using it mostly for critters I.E. deer, geese and my neighbors dumb dog. while I understand the sentiment I disagree. If somebody is endangering you or others with there actions I believe it is your place to give them a toot.

I'm not sure it has...been getting my a#$ kicked lately.
