  1. Diana bg, it's tough but Penn is fine also, I currently only own a Penn. P.S, went striper fishing for a week up in norcal last year, for line if you are fishing riprap and rock in water don't use braid, I regret!
  2. Kids, loaners, etc True story here wether you believe it or not.... Medium action ugly stick, 8lb nylon, father was fishing sabiki rigs for mackerel off of a peir for mackerel. Hooked into one and then a juvenile shark hits the mackerel, he had it on for a solid 6 seconds, rod was bent so far in half before the shark cut the line with its teeth. Honestly was surprised it didn't cut the line immediately. I wish I hooked into it because I had a 6000 spinning reel with 20lb nylon, would have cut through that as well but maybe I could have played it a little longer.
  3. Shimano... (I'm kidding) Gear material is different, personally I feel brass is smoother. They can go on sale for as low as 70$ sometimes. Only thing that makes the Supreme sw friendly is o ring seals, which are okay but, not worth the 100+ price tag. Gearing all their reels starts to wear fast in my experience and start becoming loud and grindy, expecially wrenching fish with the higher XT gear ratios with usdm 6+lb line. Maybe I've become spoiled fishing my tatula lt. In a nutshell its pretty much cosmetic upgrades and extra bearings in the handle and 3 on the main shaft where you dont need them. spinning reel and it's good gear durability. I have the 20xt, xtLE35, and xt10 and had a supreme Smaller the reel the less smooth it is, plus they pack tractor grease in there. Gearing cut on all of them looked pretty much the same on all models, I'd just get the cheapest one and buy an extra gear set for when they strip. + xtLE wood knob handle becomes super loose and wobbly
  4. I wish our generation could meet them more often, I don't think I could ever carry a fraction of the burden they did
  5. One of my theory was maybe they where swimming over a few beds and the male Bass where just not having it. The bass hitting them where not huge, maybe no more than 3lbs. Then again these fish eat trout and rats so.... yknow
  6. Makes sense, it was on a mud flat, they where both rooting around, interesting!
  7. I still watch randy for info, but unsubscribed because he often talks about overpopulation. I will not get political, but He has said multiple times that there are too many people on the earth, and we are using all the resources. It is true we have overfished the oceans and damaged animal habitat, but nonetheless from a ethical standpoint That's a very dangerous road to go down, for obvious reasons. I really just hope he doesn't think I'm one of the people "overpopulating" his planet yknow. An interesting economics study showed earth could sustainably support 12 million people also with technological innovation and specialization of industry. And who knows, maybe a few of those extra 5 billion people in the future will be smart enough to figure out how to solve all of the problems in the world, it can't hurt to put brainpower together
  8. This year I have noticed alot of patterns rise and fall fishing extensively, and have encountered very weird patterns where for maybe a week-month they will have behavior that goes against bass fishing theory. Ex 1. Bass suspended over 30ft in January hit topwaters and are actively feeding in 38 water temps And snow on ground Ex2. "Psuedo" spawn in October with a maybe 30 male Bass making beds, backed offshore next week Ex3. Bass targeting large mallards (perhaps near babies but not sure), (imo way to big of bird for them), multiple times seen in the month) Ex4 playing/interacting with carp in the spring, not really trying to eat them or ignore them but showing interest and swimming with them. (Saw Two Bass in July doing this also , maybe was same pair of Bass and carp, maybe they are just friends idrk. Any interesting odd pattern behaviors
  9. Yep, they don't seem beholden to any brand, they just seem to pump TW up, which is more than fine if honest reccomendations in equiptment
  10. Whatever u use, think light as possible. Rocks like to keep heavy things.
  11. If you have to receipt I would (try) to return it, although that's going to be rough almost being 6 years old. I hate customer service, they will most likley make you Pay for shipping too, and even more frustratingly, they may just stick grease in the thing and say "all fixed".
  12. You can't go wrong with stradic or tatula lt, I got tatula lt just because I liked the colors more, but again both are good. Tatula is quite a bit lighter also! Stradic is slightly smoother
  13. S means shallow spool, SS means super shallow, D means deep spool, LC means longcast, it is also shallow. More options than usdm market, that's not a bad thing though by any means. 3000 is heavy but will manage heavier line better, .009 Dia and lower 2500 should be okay. P.S (Stella series everything feels great, though I've found low gear ratio is smoother than high gear ratio, but again with Stella this most likley won't be problem
  14. I understand, I have a diawa tatula sv tw and have also always adjusted spool tension for different lure weights, usually lighter lures=more brake less tension and heavier lures are more tension less brake. I have adjusted it a ton and while the factory settings where nice, I feel I can get a few more yards by adjusting for each lure.
  15. Will try the screw lock splitshot, I do have a huge bag of those.
  16. Yes, I have purple disco they do the same thing, oddly they also absorbed purple from a worm in the same bag.
  17. Yes I've been having this issue also, frustrating... I don't own any nail weights but from a youtube video I watched that seems to fix it.
  18. Welcome to BR! Fellow friend in SOCAL! If you have any questions about resavoirs, expecially in SD and Bakersfield area let me know, feel free to reach out, WTB and Bass_Fishing_Socal are also very knowledgeable and know more than me in the LA area, if you wish to dabble there.
  19. Many people upgrade cheaper reels from bushings to bearings in knobs and this supposivley helps, I have never tried. also shims which personally makes more mechanical sense to remove play. personally it bugs me alot, some of my Chinese reels have 0 and my diawas have quite a bit.
  20. Being pretty young I am very very competent at video editing and digital media, programing, and even dabbled in software creation, expecially when I was younger and in high-school. The whole reason I came to the outdoors and fishing is to escape the God forsakeness of the internet in general, when you dive as deep as i did you truly wish you never knew what it offered, its a chimera.
  21. Cheap Amazon jigs called Croch, hooks are surprisingly good, hand tied, comes with extra skirts, I paid 18 for them, you can get them on sale for 11$, 10 jigs 10 skirts hooks are actually half decent and are slightly thicker than a normal ewg worm hook but much lighter than average jigs which makes it a bonus imo. Only reccomendation is from what I've read weed gaurd tends to fall out, has never happened to me even fishing them extensively but maybe superglue them. P.S head is more of a grass style than a arkie, perhaps you could call it a hybrid Here's an image for you, biggest fish of the year came on it for me, wish I could show the whole image but BR image uploading is size fussy
  22. They want another shimano curado..... I think........ maybe if for some odd reason they don't like it I can help them break it in.
  23. On TW? I looked they don't discount them is it one of those things they can't advertise?
  24. I'd like to get better at jerkbaiting, pretty high learning curve
