  1. Yes but for me, there is a specific rocky area of a lake I fish in that has nice sized Mayan cichlids. Catching them with a medium powered rod or even light makes it more fun IMO ?. they have small mouths but I have caught a few on a small chatterbait before
  2. Yeah, I suspected as much, just thought it would be something fun
  3. I am going through a phase where I'm buying different brands of snaps/snap swivels to see how they perform. I picked up these two today, vmc snaps and "Norman speed clips" anyone have any thoughts? Have these ever failed, come undone when using?
  4. Lol yes, that's why I mentioned being careful to not overdo the hookset
  5. 7' shimano clarus. Not a high end shimano rod of course but I wouldn't say it's poor quality either
  6. I see, so generally speaking using a medium power rod for this will not break a good quality rod then?
  7. I am tempted to throw chatterbaits on my medium power rod, making the fight a bit more fun being on a lighter rod. My fear is I know it requires a nice solid hookset, and my concern is breaking the rod. If I don't "overdo" the hookset, should using a medium power rod be OK? What are your experiences?
  8. Man sometimes I feel like a beginner lol ? I lost a few fish today because I did not get a good hook set/bass threw the hook, but I managed to land this beautiful example on a chatterbait ?. Easily 20"+
  9. That thing looks sweet, I use the tsunami ball bearing snap swivel "marine grade"
  10. I have a habit of throwing my chatterbaits and spinner baits right out of the box, without a trailer on it. I have caught fish this way, but it seems not very many go after it. I was wondering if it has to do with my not using a trailer of some kind? The pond I frequent has pretty chocolate milk water, so I'm not sure if it's because of visibility issues or going without trailer. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks
  11. I find myself recently using snap swivels to quick change my lures. I admit it, it's out of being lazy and not wanting to cut and tie a new knot each time.. Do you guys use snap swivels for easy lure swap out, or specific reasons/presentations? What are the issues of using them?
  12. Missed a couple, but caught this nice largemouth in the scum pond this evening ? Probably 2 or 3 pounder if I had to guess.
  13. Thanks for your detailed answer ?
  14. Hey Do you guys swap out your treble hooks on your crankbaits with single hooks? If so, what brand(s) work well for you, and is there a noticeable difference of not getting hung up as often in grass areas etc? Thanks
  15. OK everyone, I've narrowed down to 3 rods I can't decide between. They are all mid price range, and overall positive reviews about all 3. Any thoughts? Okuma DTR Casting Okuma Tournament Concept Castaway Crankin' Series Thanks

Okuma Tournament Concept What is your opinion on Okuma rods? Anyone using them?? 3. Castaway Crankin' Series Not much info on this brand 4. iRod Genesis III Not sure about this company, looks nice though. 5. Fitzgerald Fishing Stunner HD Looks like a good rod but I have no idea about them. 6. Halo XD III Pro I have heard good and bad about this company. Anyone use them?
  17. Ah, nice to see the Bantam reel In there..it's sweet huh lol ?. Nice selection ?
  18. I mostly use spinnerbaits, sometimes chatterbaits. occasionally shallow crankbaits and once in a while I might throw plastics. By far spinnerbaits though
  19. Yeah I get it, but I still like to hear people's opinions and experiences they have with any of the rods mentioned. still gives me some sort of insight
  20. Hey, I'm in the market for a new casting rod. I have come up with some options. Looking for a MH F/M anywhere from 7' - 7' 3". Please give me any opinions you may have on these rod models. Thanks Dobyns SIERRA Shimano Curado Ark Lancer Pro Castaway Taranis Cx1 Phenix Recon Elite Dobyns Fury Castaway Crankin' Series St. Croix Victory St. Croix Bass X
  21. Yes I'm looking at the ark lancer pro and invoker pro, seem like nice rods. There is a $50 dollar price difference between the two though, the lancer price point is close to the Curado.
  22. How do you think the rod compares with, say the Curado rod designed for the reel?
  23. Yeaahh...you are doing the reel deal stuff lol ?. Impressive ??
