Bass one xt
Yeah even though I have never used the caius before I would agree. A lot of people say that the JDM stuff made is usually a degree higher in quality than the US market stuff. That might be true for their more expensive reels but I'm not sure how much that plays into this $60 reel. I will be getting the reel on Tuesday so it just might turn out to be pretty good quality

Reel oil
Ok sounds good thanks

Bass one xt
Even though it's inexpensive do you think it's a pretty good performer? I have never used the caius, is it a decent reel?

Bass one xt
Does anyone have any experience with this reel? I was browsing JDM stuff online and ran across it. The reel is inexpensive but seems like decent quality. Any info on it would be appreciated thanks

Reel oil
Oh i was wrong, the blue cap bottles say bantam oil and the green cap bottle is unmarked...it has shimano name vertically molded into the bottle which is pretty cool. I do have a scorpion bfs reel from Japan that might be the bfs oil

Reel oil
Hey, So most of the time Shimano includes the little bottle of mystery oil with the blue cap, but occasionally you will get the green cap oil or "bantam oil". I want to dump all of my little bottles into 1 precision bottle I have. Are these oils basically the same? Can they be mixed without any adverse effects? I'm curious thanks

Drag star installation
Yeah it's a flat metal spring, not like a typical round metal coil type you see in other models...it's very strong I tried to compress it with my fingers it took a lot of force
-
Drag star installation
Yes that dang spring never wants to stay seated on the nut. It's a very short spring and seems like it would barely provide any "spring" action at all lol but it's a tough little thing

Drag star installation
I just installed it again, I left the "clicker" plate stuck to the handle with some oil. The star drag without the plate just has a circular hole in the middle, so I just slid it over the drive shaft. Then I just carefully slid the handle with the clicker plate piece stuck to it over the drive shaft and pushed down quickly and got it. I will have to do it that way for now on. My other baitcasting reels are not nearly as finicky like the bantam when it comes to reinstalling this part and I have no idea why lol. My bantam always makes me work harder..

Drag star installation
I was trying several times, it was really giving me trouble. I just ended up installing it off center and figured when I turned the drag star it would align it automatically eventually. If that plastic piece gets chewed up from the drive shaft teeth will it eventually cause an issue?

Drag star installation
Hey, My bantam mgl was really giving me a hard time when I was trying to install the star drag and get it to seat over the spring properly. Does the drive shaft have to enter the star drag plastic clicker plate so that both oblong shapes are together, or can it be offset from each other? If I install it offset the fine threads on the drive shaft get stuck and dig in to the plastic plate edges and it feels like you cant push everything down to seat it properly. It really gets frustrating..

Curado 70 handle
Best of luck

Curado 70 handle
I think the tranx handle I'm installing is over 100mm lol but I still don't think it's overkill for the curado 70 I'm using it for
-
Curado 70 handle
Oh OK, so I guess I can look at it as 6 dollars for the parts and 10 dollars for shipping/tax I guess. Not a big deal. Says the parts will be here Monday can't wait to put it together
-
Curado 70 handle
Yes he sold the 3 parts to me as a "kit" under the BNT5643 part number. But I'm aware the individual pieces have their own respective part number. He sold them to me for $16 but even if I got ripped off I'm not upset because I need that stuff anyway. Do you think it's odd for a seller to give me all 3 parts as a package instead of selling these parts individually? I don't buy reel parts often enough to know if that would be considered unusual
-
Curado 70 handle
Apparently yeah lol just need to do your research and make sure the handle you want will fit the reel you want to use it for and the nut retaining plate piece will work for the handle. Sometimes it's hard to find the handle to start with...and you might not be able to buy all of your parts from the same source. Me for instance I had to buy my handle from one seller and the retainer piece from another source unfortunately

Curado 70 handle
Lol BNT6057 is the handle assembly, earlier you said 5643 was the handle assembly. I think you just mixed yourself up is all. BNT5643 for my purchase includes the nut, screw, and plastic nut retainer. Apparently that is a package deal. The seller included all 3 parts for $16. Not sure if that is a good deal but oh well
-
Curado 70 handle
No the 6057 is the whole handle assembly. You said that yourself earlier lol
-
Curado 70 handle
Mine is bnt 5643 but thats because it included the nut and screw and plastic retainer lol...

Curado 70 handle
We Well...I just bought a tranx 200 handle and a curado 200k plastic nut cover that should work with the tranx 200 handle...wish me luck..

Thanks

Curado 70 handle
So the original nut plate the Curado 70 has will not work with the Tranx 200 handle? I was wondering also if the curado 200k larger handle will work on the Curado 70...they are both Curado after all from similar time period
-
Curado 70 handle
Cool, so I will need a 4x7 shim to fit the 8x5 handle to make up for the extra room that the tranx handle has...can you please tell me where to order this exact shim? Thanks

What about the crescent shaped plastic piece the pinion gear is cradled in, do I also need to replace that or should it fit in the existing piece? Thanks
